As a horticulture grad student I worked with the university's strawberry breeding program. A lot of work crossing strawberries, collecting the seeds by macerating the "fruit", growing them out from those seeds (way harder than you'd think), and then evaluating them for all the characteristics that make a cultivar desirable. In the two years I worked there with who knows how many hundreds and hundreds of plants we had just a very few, no more than half a dozen or so, that showed enough promise to continue working with them. REQUEST: please make a video about potatoes and the blemishes that occur. I often wonder what I am looking at, when I see imperfect potatoes. Some look like bruises, while others look like infections.
I find very frequently that "perfect" looking potatoes like to be rotted inside. Like the very center is a big black gaping pit of decay even though the outside looks perfect. Usually these potatoes feel very light. But blemished potatoes tend to be healtheir on the inside, so long as they have cuts and not rotten holes.
@@eugenetswong Nope. All those rotted potatoes were from bagged potatoes. I don't know why it happens but it is very depressing to cut a beautiful blemish free potato in half and see a big diamond shaped stringy core inside. I've been making sure to only grab the bags that look kinda beat up but feel very dense. Not one internally rotted potato, but I do have to cut away some skin-level damage.
I never in my entire life seen that under the leaf of a strawberry. Maybe I was bein to greedy ripping through the container lol. But thanks for the info. I jus learned something new
well damn ? how are my strawberries growing from them ? from seed saving ? Mine are yellow, or white berries . I have red too.. worlds facing starvation .. stop messing with life... people WILL need to know how to grow food.
Soak your strawberries 🍓🍓🍓 in a little salt water for a couple of hours and see the bugs that come out - disgusting 🤢🤮! Of course, we ALL probably eat all kinds of bugs and other worse crap in other food we eat as well. I’d rather eat than starve though 😋😋😋!
That's the weirdest fish I`v ever seen
not yet :D
Don't worry man it just swells up when it's dead
I mean it's pseudo carp, so it's close enough

@yiminwen9522 as an actual Asian I can confirm
So they're basically the seed.
was about to type that.
thank goodness watched nearly all.
imagine arguing at a dinner table - those are NOT THE SEEDS!
much like a plum is basically the seed. you know instead of a fruit containing a seed.

I had no idea the actual seeds were so tiny! Wow!
the seeds are literally the size of the fruits. It's not the black dot on them.
So they are effectively, the seeds, or rather the wrapper for a smaller seed.
I shall now refer to them as "seedy things".
the best scientific channel ever
Strawberries really went for the pill-in-the-pet food approach
Haha
Thanks for sharing your humour.
What we thought is the seed is not the seed. The seed is inside what we thought is the seed. Thanks for clearing that up.

I kept being reminded about strawberries and pineapples are aggregate fruits but it wasn't mention here xD
So technically those lil pips on the starberries still can be grown
So, they're essentially like Strawberry Testicles? They contain the seed 😆
Shhh! Call them "seedy things", the seed Gestapo might hear you.

You lifted up the strawberry's dress!! 😱 Apologize! 😩😭
"So, you're the delinquent who flipped up my skirt." 😂
A false fruit that is loved by all 😂
Awesome video!!!! But almost 9 bucks seems a bit high for a common yet delicious little fruit
Subscribed! This was super fascinating ❤
Funny thing is, they’re not berries, but bananas are
Kitty isn’t interested because he’s actually physically unable to taste sweet stuff
Very interesting episode !
And for Sebastian why not doing an episode about catnip ?
Due to the annoying sound effects, I stopped watching this video.
but not before announcing your departure.
Due to your annoying comment, I have had sexual intercourse with your mother last night.
Your honesty is appreciated. For I too find the video sounds like a middle school PowerPoint presentation.
I jumped ahead to 2:19 to get answer
Strawberries are tenacious plants that survived my axe. I'm impressed.
So the seed is inside the seed got it 😂
"Did you know that cashews come from a fruit"?
Great video!
Amazing, thanks
ohhhh, iT's A pSuEdOcArP.
I like fish.
Ahh bothany, now it's my area 😍
So sunflower fruits it is.
We have wild strawberries where I live. There is a difference. 🙂
I'm now more grossed out by strawberries than I already was.
If that was our cat, he would have nibbled that strawberry right down to the leaves 🍃🍓
Very cool. But, I of course, love fish.
Fruity science, maybe yummy science 😊
So fun and easy to grow! And the plants reproduce profusely! Great video 👍
vid about my favorite fruit :D
Well i certainly learned something
Cool
Bro is really looking for strawberries in a cave
This was very helpful thank you I have strawberries outside in my garden but I never see them because I also have squirrels.
Damn this fish got leaves.

So, the thing that was said to not be a seed in the title, WAS a seed. LOL!
TLDR: it actually is the seed.

But why aren't your Strawberries made of straw?
👏👍
If they're not seeds why tf do they get stuck in my teeth then?
wow
Wait i thought those were seeds!
Making me hungry, huh? 🤔🧐
That's a weird looking fish
Strawberries should be red inside, not white like the giant mutant ones in grocery stores.
SABASTIAN YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
Like rice or wheat.
it could be aliums
ClickBait. They are the seeds. Thanks for Dissecting language.
They are a gift from the Aliens.
All fruit is food for the seed to germinate in. Why would strawberries be different. People are funny.
this is why a strawberry isn't a berry.
Huh, how about that. Interesting.
Those are like blackheads on our nose.
Yes I knew
This does not explain how a fish grow from a plant outside of water.
They are carps. They survive basically anywhere
Warm greetings, Fishy Science!!!
Could you please dissect a battery, or give some fun facts about horses?

yeah that's why you wash your fruit... they aren't made in a factory, obviously there's gonna be bugs.
Lmao, always wash them, and there'll be no bugs. And if there's one, extra proteins!
