Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 тра 2009
- This is The Ist Battalian Irish Guards at Aldershot Camp leaving Church after receiving Gods blessing of safety as they set off for Iraq in 2007.....Truly Men and Women of Caurage and Conviction.....How Many have Returned to those they Love...We owe them more than we will ever know........
I was gonna on this parade. Remember it like yesterday. lost two great guys in my platoon on that tour. You can see one on the video. RIP Chris and Rederz. Will never forget you. See you on the re org
and remember about 1 million iraqi people died because of your invasion.
Ib Igne Ignum shut the fuck up rn u feeble minded piece of shit these were great people
@@liamhughes7715 well, too bad too few died of your kind there.((
Ib Igne Ignum people like you make me glad Iraq was invaded
@@IncognitoUnknown-fc2tu Get out of here you fool, we took your dodgy weapons off you the first time and liberated you from your gov the second, be bloody well grateful
Two never returned amongst this lot. RIP
Everyone gave something. Some gave everything
RIP
Very sad !!!! Rip my brothers and sisters who gave their all in the fight for humanity.
My uncle Chris Casey never forgotten
@@coryxkenshinclips9704 I knew him, not well. But we worked together. Legend. QS
I'm an American of Irish decent. Thank you all for your sacrifice
Well disciplined soldiers, it doesn´t matter under which flag they serve, Irish for ever god bless them all
You are correct...fighting for Good seems blurred these days...
+Miguel Bernardo They're not Irish. They're British.
God bless zen Black Watch.
Adam Smyth But most of them especially the ones from Northern Ireland would class themselves as British rather than Irish as it is part of the UK.
There are many Irish, even republicans in the South, who also still feel they are also British. Not politically but culturally. Just because one is a loyal and patriotic Irish citizen does not mean one denies history or hates their neighbours who share the British Isles with them! One can love both Ireland and her sisters. I would never concede one inch of Irish independence but I can still admire and respect the Queen and cherish the many good historical and present ties that bind us.
cheers from the U.S. I love how they march off from church to the tune of "Whiskey in the Jar"
GWAN BOYS! My grandfather, from the Irish Republic, served in the Irish Guards and I'm very proud of the effort you guys put in for us.
🇬🇧🟥⬜️❤️🟩🟦🇬🇧
Great respect ,🍀🇮🇪
My dad too....two years with the regiment 1940-42. But never left Hobbs Barracks!
I like how the band is playing whiskey in the jar, one of my favorite Irish folk songs
Irish Guards band always play the best tunes.
Ireland always produces the very best - The Royal Ulster Rifles, The Royal Irish Fusiliers, The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers etc. etc. ... Alexander, Montgomery, Brooke, Dill, Templer ...
Duke of Wellington and Robert Ross also.
The Connaught Rangers (“Devil’s Own”)
The Connaught Rangers
The royal Munster fueselliers as well, (sorry if got the third part of the names spelling wrong.)
@@LiamHickey2967 The other regiments were the Royal Irish Regiment, the Leinster Regiment, The Royal Dublin Fusiliers and The South Irish Horse
As an Irish man born and raised in the Republic of Ireland im proud I had family who served in the micks.
Didn't we all in times gone by.
It was said of the Guards in WW2 : They knew how to die like men. However the Irish Guards knew how to kill like men.
Whiskey in the Jar? Now that's the spirit! Love it. :)
jessicarabbit290 bloody good song.
makes me proud as an irishman to see serving members of both religions standing and marching shoulder to shoulder.
💙👉🇬🇧👈💚
@@loyalistmusiclyrics2765 So, they are still Irish! Even though some Ulster men like to claim they are not Irish, which is rediculous
@@rorymac7714 Honestly, I'm northern and I think of myself as both British and Irish.
@@AmethystDew I have no problem with that. But I find it ridiculous for an Northern Irishman to claim he is not Irish. I was born in England to Irish parents, was educated here at boarding school and universities. I am proud to call myself Irish as I have no English blood in me. But because born here and married to an English woman my loyalties lie to England. Though I always check on rugger and foot ball results to see Ireland International results
@@rorymac7714 I don't considering many are continually told they aren't irish and that they are planters
got to love the irish sense of humour..going to fight in iarq while playing whisky in the jar
After all, it is the National Anthem....
@@rustykilt No it isn’t.
@@Seanflanagan7 it’s a joke mate 😂
You can't find a better song to raise morale than an old folk song.
What a fine irish Wolfhound.
You gotta love a professional, honored unit that marches off to Whiskey In the Jar. So proud that I am part Irish.
Makes me proud to be Irish!
@@sokar90805yeah but you know this is the British army no offence
Thank you for your service in the coalition. As a former US soldier I respect the Armed services of a combined force. Thanks for the assistance. Get home safely.
Brings a tear to the eye may almighty God bless our soldiers volunteers who serve our nation with pride and devotion God save the queen
Whiskey in the Jar and With me shillelagh under me Arm two great old Irish tunes arranged for marching by a great Irish regiment, brilliant !
When does the 2d tune begin during this clip...at 1:33? Also, what rank or position is the man with came under his who appears a couple times near edge of screen at about 1:32?
I notice that the berets appear to be of both green and a more olive it brown color in the same regiment. Is that due to different roles, specialties or do my eyes deceive me? And right at the end of the formation there's a segment of soldiers wearing much darker uniforms than the rest. Just curious. Thx.
Whiskey in the Jar & I'm Off to Philadelphia in the Morning, the Band Master had a sense humour.
Proudest dog on earth ! Bless the irish !
Well done the ‘Micks’ one of the five great foot Guards Regiments, band of brothers. (Coldstream veteran).
I don't know how I came across this clip but as a veteran of some 25 years service and an Irishman it brought a tear to my eye even though it was a while ago, but I have always had a soft spot for the Irish Guards and even though I just missed the Iraq conflict I always prayed to myself for the safe return of all personnel, sadly some gave their all and may whichever god you pray to bless 'em all.
The Micks are brilliant and the seargent major looks the dog's bollix. That is what the British Army is all about . Micks, Taffs, Jocks and us.......any time.
This is awesome! i cant say how many times i've watched now.. great marching tunes!!
Well done to all boys fighting the good fight!
God bless from australia!
Blessings in the name of Jesus❤😂
This is indeed inspirational. Our thoughts and prayers go with and stay with men like these - bravely doing their duty to God and country! Be proud, Royal Irish Regiment! America stands with you always.
These are the Irish Guards not the Royal Irish Regiment.
@@Insperato62 I just noticed on here that this video is 14 yrs old. I then noticed the video that is 13 yrs old that shows the return of the "Royal Irish Regiment;" NOT these same guys, as you stated. What's the difference exactly, pls? Thx.
They played Whiskey in the Jar very well. I love the Irish Wolfhound at the beginning.
He's called Derek
One of the best on You Tube, thank you for reposting it,God Bless them all
The Micks were in Munster with us.
Irish Hussars and Irish Guards in same battlegroup.
Plus 17/21 Lancers.
Great memories.
Good lads.
I'm 66 years old and just found out I'm Irish. With tears in my eyes, I feel so very proud to be Irish.
lmao
I’m from Your pants
I found out years ago that I'm not Irish. Makes me even prouder.
dear god their sharp! I almost feel sorry for the Taliban that such an awesome force was sent in to engage them... almost being the KEY word. As an American and a Submariner I have to say I have the greatest respect for the UK and Ireland. You guys kick ass in everything ya do... not only that you guys march better than we do
What a bloody impressive unit!
as i was goin over the cork and kerry mountains i spied captain farrell and his money he was counting lol great tune i think the irish have the best marching tunes
Whiskey In The Jar, now there's a tune to march off to war to !! Ya !!
And you get a name-check in the song, as it's based on the main character (a Highwayman) having a run-in with British army officer Captain Farrell! Local highwaymen holding up English landlords were considered national heroes in 17th century Ireland, so marching to this tune in the British army of today just shows how far we have come.
GOD BLESS EVERY SINGLE ONE....THANKYOU FOR YOUR SERVICE ...THE BRAVE XXX
Brave lads all. God bless em
Les we forget ,At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them we will remember them
great video and music thanks for reposting it
A proud outfit. Thanks for reposting this video.
You simply have to love it.....marching to "Whisky In The Jar". I wish some of our cavalry squadrons and regiments had participated in a send off like this when they deployed.
phubai67 they used to. but it is no longer politically correct to do so.
+happygael How so?
Those troops and that band are TOP NOTCH!
Soldiers of all lands unite.
They have the borderline insolence and the bearing of true fighting men.
They are truly elite soldiers. They are also the only regiment in the Brit Army that, upon returning from a campaign is allowed to go to church (mass) before reporting to the Queen. This stipulation was written into the agreement when the unit was formed. It is a traditionally Irish Catholic regiment.
The Queen mother was the honorary Commandant of the Black Watch regiment. Upon her death The Black Watch could not provide the Honor Guard for her Funeral. (They are not a Guards Regiment.) They asked the Irish Guards to provide the Honor Guard for her funeral and the Procession. The Guards stood in for them at the funeral.
The Irish Guards were always the choice for the Queen Mother's funeral procession. She had no official appointment to them but they were her favourite. She called them her soldiers, her boys, such was her affinity to the regiment.
@@happygael Which is why I am dumbfounded at sectarian nonsense
Makes the hairs stand up on the back of your head. Great stuff lads...
God Bless these brave men. America has a love of the Irish and their contributions to her. Thank you for helping us.
The Irish Guards had tragically lost two soldiers in Irag in 2003.
One was a Dubliner and the Irish authorities permitted his funeral party to parade in uniform - the first time since 1922 that British soldiers had been seen in Dublin.
I could march to that until I collapsed. Maybe my blood: my ancestors coming from the Old Sod.
My great grandad served with the Irish guards during ww2 :)
Great Video of a Great regiment, God Bless them all
CAN WE PLEASE STOP THE POLITICAL FIGHTING HERE?? All of this matters not in relation to this video. Whether you agree or disagree on the reasons for going, or even what the reasons are in the first place, this is about men & women going off to fight for their country. Whether they should be going is irrelevant - they ARE going. Can't we honor them
John,
Thank you for reposting this. It's great!
Salute from this Aussie digger!
im from the republic of ireland and i have great respect for these men and women who give their lives for a good cause!!!! Maybe not for the country their fighting for (excluding people from northern ireland) but i still have great respect for them
Being from America thanks for the support even tho didn't have to help hrooooo
Thanks for your service
God bless every one of them. They are a mix of prods & taigs.... But I repeat.... GOD BLESS EVERY ONE OF 'EM..!!

All countries should be as proud as the British and farewell their troops with music and parades!
BRAVO!!!
Awesome. God bless these soldiers.
I come from a line of Irish Guards, soooo proud ❤
A fantastic video of a fantastic regiment
these are the men who served in iraq to bring a better future for the country and the rest of the world... God Bless the UK army!
Love to revisit this one. It sure is evident where many of the US Army tunes of the latter half of the 19th century came from!
Great!! A special mention to the disciplined dog.
Brilliant! Loved the 'Thin Lizzy' rift!
Great tune and sound
but do anyone the second tune the band played for the brave man and woman tho present there country.
GREAT RESPECT

very proud of the irish guards my brother was a pipe major in the irish guards, robert lyttle
this video has been posted previously months ago although not in HQ so it is nice to see that
Love that the bands playing "Whisky in the Jar"!
Terrorist 1: "The Irish are coming and I think they're marching to 'Whiskey in the Jar'. Shall I alert the others? "
Terrorist 2: ".......Well I guess that's that then. Start writing down the terms for our surrender"
This is what we miss in the Netherlands!
Exactly 🦁⚔️🇳🇱🇬🇧⚓️🦁
That's why we need a NEXIT.

@@26vino then get to it. Maybe just take out Brussels and all the snail eaters there first and speed things up.
God bless the thin red line, from a Baghdad Vet 04-05 TF Wolfhound
Quite simply the BEST
wish i never left the guards it was my only regiment god bless the queen
Because the Queen is sooooooo great ftq
Same here QS
Good luck and God bless lads👏
My favourite on UA-cam and I am not Irish, simply ''real'' soldiers , some swagger and just ''style''.
Finest Army on earth.
Son of an MM winner with The Rifle Brigade at El Alemein 1943.
You will find these Irishmen are very much British!
Loyal.
soulofthenorth I think you will find its only a small percentage of Irishmen that claim to be British. Most from the loyalist community hate all things Irish. You most remember that our language, wolfhounds, shamrock, kilts, and songs belong to the actual Irish people....When the Guards had a large IRISH content then it would be fair to use any of these but now i think its like 11 out of 400. So not really Irish.
Marching to Whiskey in the Jar, cool.
Makes me proud that I am a second generation Irishman!!!
So proud of our brave men.
I am Proud of Our Past and Present People in the Military (and all Branches) ,
But The Hope is "There" that The Future Does Not Need Any Type of Marching Out
For all Those Who Have Served and Lost.... Thank You and I Hope that Tomorrow is better !
(Army Brat... Told by her father to always Remember Where you Got Your Rights From and Show Respect.)
Stay Safe Everyone
Band playing Whiskey In the Jar, AWESOME!
These guys are absolute LEGENDS!
You can tell that they are Guardsmen, arms swinging shoulder high. Con Huhn, 2nd Battalion Canadian Guards
Well done lads. Hutchie.
God bless em! Brought tears to my eyes!
Sounds the best in a pub with a pint.
I work in an Irish Tavern in Minnesota, we crank this shit and make all the lessor forms of life listen to us sing it!
HAHAHA! I'M very happy! I just got accepted into the Irish Guards TODAY!!!!!! The sergeant major was very impressed by my improvement! 8th of January here I come!!! gonna destroy Catterick!!!
omg they playing whiskey in the jar love that song
HEROES ! 💪🇮🇪
So Prode of out irish loads God bless
What is that catchy tune? Excellent.
God bless these brave men
Proud to be british well done lads God Save the Queen.
Whiskey in the jar, Off to California in the morning, and lastly Westward Ho played by the corps of drums
Off to Philadelphia in the morning, not California.
For those wondering, while a part of the band is in scarlet, and the others aren't is because, the front part, are usually civilian musicians, or ex army musicians, whilst the pipes and drums are all current serving soldiers
Nah mucker , They are the regt band Musician's and only part of the whole band that contain pipes , drums , fife , The red tunic and blue tweed trousers is the Home Service Clothing of the Brigade of Guards , From an x Mick
Such brave brave men.
... And they marched all the way there!
The ‘Micks’ looking great as always
Get a life!
Actually as an Irishman 'Mick' is used as an affectionate term towards the Irish guards. I think it's quite funny aswell!
@@eoghancarpenter8546That's not what my Orange Irish Grandmother told me it meant. I didn't find humour in it.
