- Some things translate and then some things don't.
This is one of those cases where there is no direct translation.
But how do you say something as important as this?
Maybe you can't. But the takeaway translates.
The phrase in our language means so much more than "Love".
It's loving people anyway. It's following someone who is walking in beauty. Because you glory in their existence.

“I glory in your existence.” How beautiful. May you walk in beauty.
In the 70s I lived on the Reservation. Mostly at Cameron. It was the only time in my life I enjoyed going to school. I still didn't like school. But the long bus ride to and from with my amazing Navajo friends were the best days of my life. I was 15, my buddies would take me all over the place to see things most white people would ever see. We'd catch up some horses and ride for days. When we moved away, it broke my heart. Many many years later I stopped into the trading post and one of the ladies there remembered my parents and me. It was wonderful. I get that feeling when I watch this wonderful Man's teachings. Like going home.
The most accurate way to translate the Biblical commandment “honor your father and your mother” is ‘give glory to your father and your mother’; something that I take very seriously. I’ve been an orphan for 17 years, but my mother-in-law lives with us, and I treat her as I would my own parents. And she will never be put out of our home but will die here. This is the way of my people, and my family.

Your beautiful attitude honors you, and your forebears.
I'm truly sorry to hear of the loss of your parents and offer my heartfelt condolences.
I believe that you can have a mother, father, sibling, cousin, etc. in other ways than just through blood. Anyone who serves (acts) in that role, whether they be a blood relative or not, is just as good as one and may be called as such.
It's beautiful to see a culture that cares for their elders. May you and your family, blood or no, always be blessed. 💯👍
Beautiful
I ONCE HEARD A BEAUTIFUL LADY TELL ME THE WORD LOVE IS THE MOST MISUSED MISUNDERSTOOD WORD IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
NOT YELLING ALMOST COMPLETELY BLIND
"Whither thou goest, I will go, whither thou lodgest, I will lodge, thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God." Whether in the ancient Middle East or here in the Southwest, the Holy People reach out after their children to give them the truths of love and walking in beauty.
Book of Ruth.
That is exactly what I thought of when he spoke. "I glory in your existence" is a profound restating of this sacred truth.
When he said that, this verse came to my mind too.
If they only knew who they are
I love ❤️ that, “ I glory in your existence “ 🙏✌️❤️
✨your prayer is my prayer✨
As I listened to your explanation of the word love it reminded me of how devalued the word has become in our current usage. We tend to say that we love all sorts of things but listening to my grandparents and their old stories I realized that love was a very sacred thing. As you explained it involves admiration, respect, appreciation, and very profound fondness and understanding. Perhaps even something you would die for.
Correction God's son did die for the love the father had for us. So yes. Some will DIE for Love
Some of us live without love. So if you have love to spare give it freely. Thank you for the great wisdom given thru your words and these video lessons.
The Father loves you, I love you brother.
Love you, Honest Lee! (oh, look, a double pun - 😄)
You are loved. Close your eyes-breathe deeply- Can you Feel it?
The great creator has always loved you and always does.as do I. I love you 🙏🙏🙏🥰😊🙏🙏🙏
Thank you all 😇 You as well!
I'm in so much torment, but I'm trying so much to raise above it. These are helping.
Keep going, things will get better.

And this to me... makes your people a GREAT people. I am very grateful for you sharing your peoples wisdom with us.
I never thought negative thoughts about Native Americans. I always felt they were spiritual, fierce fighters, beautiful, kind to animals and the earth, etc...This is your land. We respect you.
Pray & Watch, follow & walk in the light, love as wish to be loved I love this man & his teaching Thank you
💜💫Gratitude💫💜
I feel this so much I resemble this and I appreciate it! I always want everyone around me to be happy!!!! My dad was part Blackfoot and Canadian and he died young sadly but taught me how to treat people and I just have a 6th sense for it among other things! Thank you for these lessons I save them because I want to learn. There's a book called Pine Potatoes and People about the tribe and my family 👪
That is beautiful. How imprecise the word "love" often is in its Western usage. This leaves it open to be a word that is abused. Thank you for your teaching.
I learned that from Russell Means
How right you both are.
I genuinely LOVE every soul in existence. I don't know, nor comprehend conditional love. I've felt all types of love and the truest, all encompassing, glorying in my existence, has been immensely rare. So much so, that as a child, I swore to myself and my higher power, that I would never let anyone I encounter feel anything but unconditional love from me. I never wanted anyone to feel the sadness I felt in my heart from mistreatment. My mother often told me, "You make it so hard to love you!"
I was blessed by this however, because I was raised by my unfathomably incredible father. 🙌🏽 Amongst MANY valuable lessons, He taught me the real meaning of love and how important and easy it is to love, EVERYONE!
I was later blessed with a son whom has Down syndrome and a plethora of K9 besties. Each of whom have showed me I'm actually VERY easy to love.
My mother never once told me, "I love you." With a period. It's always been followed by, "but".
So, to anyone reading this, I LOVE YOU WITH NO BUTS! 💋💜🤟🏽
This is beautiful and pure
God says love thy neighbor
And Jesus said to love God with all that you are in order to love your neighbor as you love yourself (my translation). Love makes the other Commandments alive & active. ☺️👍
Native Americans are the only ones to love in the first place...
Reminds me of Aloha.
Thank you, God Bless You.
Thank you as always, Grandfather. You also are making me more beautiful in being, loving me so.
AMO ❤️ brother 🙏 .
I shouldn't be surprised at how expansive and all encompassing is your definition of love. Thank you for this teaching.
Thank you for your wisdom. I look forward to learning more about your history and culture.
To love is to be divine..thank you. Love peaceful serenity be too all.
Brings to mind that Moody Blues song:
"When you stop to think about it / you won't believe it's true / but all the love you've been giving / has all been meant for you."

This guy is a national treasure.
Love, like hate, is learned. There are certain qualities which demonstrate love: sharing from our need as freely as we give from our surplus, listening more than speaking, learning from others' failures and successes, putting giving freely ahead of receiving, but always accept gifts with humility and demonstrated gratitude Do not seek revenge, but seek an end to vengeance, as no one ever feels like they "got even" with someone who has offended. Looking with open eyes at intent rather than perceived intent. And recognize that we cannot always discern the difference until later. We are neither ugly nor beautiful each moment of our lives. But we are all beautiful, and ugly, at times. All is for our humbling, and our edification in order to make us better five-fingered beings. It has taken me over 70 years to come to these realizations. Thank you, Grandfather Wally, my brother. May you, and all your people be greatly blessed, and recognize the responsibilities that come with the blessings.
Thanks for the teaching 🙏
Thank you Grand Father
You are loved!!!

Follow in your footsteps. Peace
Thanks, Wally 👌❤️

What an awesome dude for sharing the knowledge with the rest of us. He is showing the meaning of "ayóó anííníshní." I hope I got that right. 💕

Idk why I was recommended this channel but glad I was. Native American culture is interesting and I like their blanket designs.
Such an amazing history. Good people. "Uneducated" is truly irrelevant.
Thank you Sir 😊
I'm so thankful for you!

Wow. Unconditional love. What a wonderful way to express it. I glory in your existence.💜
Thank you. I glory in your existence. I send my heart to follow yours. It feels good. A little weird, but it's calming
Thank You Wally!

I have such great joy in this teaching! It humbles me in it's greatness. Even now I am saying the word in my heart. I am saying it to our Father. I am saying it to His Son. I am saying it to His Holy Spirit. I am saying it to you. That is enough. There are four. My four teachers.
I personally love your instruction and videos and it sings to my heart job well done sir.
Thank you
Thank you so much for sharing this teaching. Beautiful!
Kindness, compassion and empathy maybe are the act of loving? My ignorance does not tell me where the word from the African continent is from and "Umbutu" means "I am because you are". We are so fortunate to have so many languages.
To me the word ugly has everything to do with your character and the way you treat people, not your physical appearance. No matter how pretty or handsome a person may be, if they're ugly on the inside, it shows who they truly are. It's sad really; being ugly on the inside is a personal choice. No one has to be that way, and none of us know how to put a paper bag over an ugly personality. Thank you Grandfather Wally! I enjoy learning from you so very much.❤

Wow ❣️ That so touching 🥰 We should all live by that version of love ❤️ The only time I heard anything close was in Bible college, it was when we learned God's perfect love, called agape love or unconditional love!! We as humans have a more conditional type love usually., A love based on others actions etc.But in perfect love none of that matters. We are loved and should love others always and fully.. But your definition is beautiful, to Glory in ones existence ❣️ 🙋🏻♀️
Thank you 🙏
So Beautiful. Thank You. 💚💗🙏✨🌻
It's difficult for me to follow everything he says in his videos, but I really liked listening to this one
Amazingly beautiful
Thank you sir.
Beautiful 💐💓way to express love 💕
That's beautiful thank you
Thank you for your teaching great wise one.
Thank you very much for sharing this valuable information with us. Blessings upon you always 🙏.
This reminds me of a Biblical verse. Ruth 1:16: “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” How interesting that you mention CS Lewis :)
Thanks!
