Low latency Bluetooth is perfectly possible, like aptX. It is just locked away by proprietary technologies, patent fees etc. Thus all free/cheap devices must use high-latency audio Bluetooth protocols with big packets, making them suck for most things (I don’t like to watch movies with high latency, lips stops being in sync with audio).
2.4ghz isn’t really a major issue for latency, speed of electronic waves are very similar and fast when we talk GHz. Higher Hz does give more *bandwidth* though, so on 5GHz (if all else is the same), you might expect double bandwidth compared to 2.4GHz.
So for real time low bandwidth applications like audio they are just as good, but for high quality video transmissions 2.4GHz may be too narrow to fit in the smaller bandwidth. And file downloads to be faster at 5GHz.
Honestly I don’t know the details as to how radio GHz relates to transmission bandwidth... ; radio/mixers and signal processing aren’t my stronger subjects. You do something like add sender signal onto the base frequency and receiver extracts signal from base frequency, with a “mixer”. For some reason you cannot add as much bandwidth to the slower signal, ... and I don’t fully understand why :-)

That's very interesting how these things are possible but there are some "legal" thing that get in the way. An example for that is in the camera world most DSLRs have a time limit on each file recoding. The reason for that is because camcorders are taxed differently. So instead of making it easier and more user and consumer friendly they just hide behind "tech limitations".
the good thing is we are getting to a point where the better tech is becoming more accessible to the consumers market. things such as USB C, HDMI wireless tech, and even cameras with longer run times.

thanks for this. can i use the zoom f6 or the mixpre-3 ii with the rode video mic pro + via the 3.5 jack? are there limitations to this quality wise compared to using a xlr shotgun mic? thanks so much for your thoughts.

Have a look at the Rode VXLR Pro and Deity V Link adapters, although I can't tell you which ones work for sure.

“Load” is the English tech word for how much strain you put on a power source. All power sources tend to fluctuate under extreme load, such as a short circuit. Batteries are very far from an optimal power source, so they may present e.g. 8V at low loads, and drop significantly under higher loads. In school they used to say batteries should be illustrated as a voltage source with an additional resistor, so your drawing really showed that batteries do not behave as an optimal voltage source :)

I’m not sure what you mean by drawing. I assume your talking about the B-roll. I don’t think, when they added this feature, they wanted to make it too in depth. So they kept the voltage number simpler than it really is. Also the batteries that showed might not have been fully charged, so that could tie into the voltage not being accurate.
To be honest I just think it’s a rough representation that gets the point across of how much battery life is left.
I appreciate the info on battery load and voltage. I touched on some of this when I worked on heating and air conditioning. Those are very involved.
Thanks for checking out the video!

@@RebelTech1990 you draw a battery like this (V)->(R), an optimal power source connected to an internal resistance. The R is very small when battery is fresh, and increases when battery gets tired. If you measure your battery with a voltage meter when it is not connected to anything, you may observe eg. 8V. Put it into a device and suddenly it is just 7.5V. Increase the load of the device, now it is just 7V. Take the battery out of the device and measure again: it’s back to 8V. Since all batteries are unique, it is actually pretty good to show voltage under load instead of e.g. 22%. You can actually learn how each battery behaves etc and get a clearer picture of which battery is garbage if you observe it’s voltage under load. The percentage simplification we all are used to hides so much detail from us :-)

That is very true. I have worked on cars my whole life and dealt with similar stuff. Working on old cars and the alternators always have major changes in voltage. The more modern cars (Post 2000) are much better on management of electricity but they added so many sensors that they are impossible to work on.
As far as being accurate, these devices aren't gonna go that far, unfortunately. Most audio and video people don't get all the specifics. Something I deal with is cutting things from videos because it's too techy for some people. I walk the line of entertaining and super detailed all of the time.

@@RebelTech1990 yes, that makes sense. Going to technical / lecture you loose a part of the audience. Either you have to explain the basic concepts first, or you have to presume people know a ton of things. Ultimately that is what is good about UA-cam, there are different styles / levels / directions available. I don’t think most of your audience has any interest in learning about what non-optimal voltage sources are :) I’ve never worked with a device that show battery voltage, but in theory it should be cool and useful. The percentage meters often seem unreliable to me, actually telling the voltage level and letting the human interpret seems better to me... at least with NP-F and similar where the device cannot track individual batteries and adapt (unlike canon that record battery health per serial number and can apply its knowledge of the individual battery to its estimates; that can actually give users a good percentage... the device knows how the particular battery behaves voltage-wise)

I deal with this a lot with my microphone reviews. I can run down the long list of specs but none of it matters to people. I point out the major features and let them know what they will encounter in certain scenarios. Of course I don't touch on all of them and occasionally get called out but that's ok. I'm just one person and have my views and style. There are a ton of other people out there doing the same thing as me. I want people to watch my videos because of me, not the tech or gear.
Which ties into making the videos more so entertaining than tech sheets.

Ever since I started using L series batteries, it has changed my work flow so much. I'm actually surprised that they are still popular considering the other options that are out there. That being said they are good for certain applications, like the placeholder in the Zoom F6. This was a cool video to make cause it came from the comments, hopefully more ideas come from them. Thanks for checking it out, hope you enjoyed!

Do you have video outside the studio?
      About your work or something.

I worked on a movie a couple of years ago, called “Not Alone”. I’ve also done a bunch of promo work for local companies. I even did a shoot for Canon about one of there printers. So yea I’ve had some experience, just not much lately.

It is nice to see other people’s life sometimes.
And you have so many experiences to share.
With your talent on making video.
      That would be so interesting.
