I love when that happens, I like to roleplay it out and imagine its elite mercenaries or specialist auxiliaries that have decided to join my superior empire and I take the time to name them when they get promotions. Especially when it's a unique unit that complements the unique unit of the civ I'm playing like when I got gifted a Swedish Carolean while I was Austria with a super Hussar unit and I had them always together with a general and some cannons and they conquer like half the continent.
I remember my first multiplayer game of Civ 4 with friends, I was keeping to myself and doing science stuff, I noticed a unit at my border from one of my friends but thought nothing of it (without bothering to check the stack of units on 1 tile....), 2 turns later and he already had reinforcements on route to push on as soon as he declared war, and I had to broker defence pacts with my other friends to help me out, eventually it reached a point where my territory was a battleground for everyone else to fight on, I felt like France in WW2. However my progress of science meant that while I may not have had a big standing army, what I did have was tech that no one else had yet, and as my allies bought me time, I created an army and brought gunpowder to the table while my oppressor was still using swords, it eventually coalesced into me being too strong for him to stop and asking for a cease fire, but feeling far too slighted by his prior aggression I refused all calls for peace as I razed his country to the ground, I didn't even take his cities for my own I was too angry at him, and to me he needed to be wiped off the face of the earth, lest he recoup his forces and attack again in the future. I learned 2 lessons that day: always keep a standing army even if it's only small, and that if I get pushed too far I WILL resort to genocide
Higher difficulties in Civ just give the AI huge advantages right from the start, so it's not even a fair game. You have to play much more strategically than normal.
@@majdaasee4744 i love when people say make the ai smarter but the only way you can do that is with a near billion dollar super computer at the moment.
@@riomio7852 nope, i'm not saying they should produce an AI that can think and learn on it's own.... Just program the AI to deal with the mechanics of the game you created, by programming tactics and strategies into the AI to deal with different situations, that way the AI will not create new strategies, it will not be creative, but it will possess a big number of built-in strategies and tactics to exploit the game mechanics to give the player a difficult time....

this content is AMAZING, right up there with the best civ commentators on YT rn, you DESERVE to have at least as many subs as spiffing brit or potatomcwhiskey man, keep up the amazing work
In spite of not liking Civ I enjoyed this video immensely, the format is absolutely spectacular! I hope you make more like it, its the kind of content I have an infinite appetite for.
Writing and delivery is great. I laughed hard a few times. Also, I came from Tim Cain's channel. He mentioned you in his latest video (This Is How You Roleplay).
Basically, prince is the difficulty level at which human and AI are completely equal. For each difficulty below prince, the human has equivalent advantages to those the AI has on each difficulty above prince. Therefore, deity difficulty has you playing with the same disadvantages the AI has on the easiest difficulty.
Ending is definitely fake lol, anyone who has played civ V for a while knows AI won't accept a peace deal if they have units around your city and will definitely win lol, but great video, very enjoyable! You deserve more subscribers, can't believe you only have 1k
civ 5 deity was supreme hardcore. took me REALLY a while to etch out a victory. civ 6 deity is a total joke compared to that nightmare. and i still miss the huge unit stacks from civ 4 :)
Man, when Japan invades they do not fuck around. On a game as Venice they destroyed my second city. I didn't really make a huge military because I figures that as Venice I wasn't really settling any new territory and thus am not angering any other Civs too much. He sent an endless army to the the first city-state I bought.
This game be like: Marokko: Do you want to go to war with sweden. I: Yeah, sure hate the fuckers for controlling the congress. Give me 10 turns. Next turn: Marokko denounces me for no reason even though i have no borders with them and they do as much war as i do(i only deleted 2 civs so far).
Very funny but you seem more suited to settler difficulty
oof size large
There’s an insult for the ages
Ouch.
I don't even recommend starting in Settler difficulty cause Chieftain is so balanced for a new player.
Fun fact: militaristic city-states can gift unique units, so that's definitely how Japan got the conquistador.
the fact that he didnt know this tells me he should not be playing on diety

Yeah it's disappointing in strategy games when developers give AI advantages instead of tactics and, you know, some intelligence....

The Iron Bank is gonna be pissed.
Funny thing is that Poland is like one of the best civs in civ 5. Austria is usually considered best though.

If you want a fighting chance at winning you need at least 4 cities, 2 wasn't ever going to cut it lol

Honestly higher difficulties in Civ aren’t fun to me, they just get bonuses and lots of free stuff.
i beg you're pardon
Sick
i'm surprised you didn't get deleted at turn 25, but that +4 gold per turn at 175 is just oof
the moment i saw japan i knew they would wage war
I'm very annoyed that you didn't take the opportunity to take Hastings during the first war between yourself and Japan against England.
Idk how you made it past turn 30
