- In this video I compare the JBL Charge 5 with the Sonos Roam. Both speakers are about the same price. But the Charge 5 is bigger and you can hear that in the bass.

The trebles sound a bit harsh on the JBL Charge 5, which is a bit more pleasant on the Sonos Roam. The Charge 5 sounds more mature and powerful.
In this comparison, the JBL Charge 5 plays at 40% volume and the Sonos Roam at 70% volume, so both are about equally loud.
The sound settings of the Roam are set to neutral.

I feel like the Roam is great for when you allready have a Sonos ecosystem at home because of the Sound Swap. A small speaker which you can carry around and can play music at home with bluetooth over your One’s, Five’s and Move’s when throwing a party.
Thanks for this video. It must have taken an age to put together. Very good audio demonstration. I have Sonos speakers and sound bars. I did have a roam for a while but didn’t use it so sold it. My ears are old and tired but the jbl sounds clearer to me. But what do I know lol 👍Thanks.
Sonos does the treble better but bass is simply outstanding on the JBL..😍

I’ve watched tons of videos and this is the first video where there’s almost no difference. So I went to a store to check them out myself. JBL? A joke to me. Muffled, no mids jus bass and loud. Sonos? Clear, crisp, loud enough. Won’t make a disco out of it but it’s good enough. JBL is for a campfire where every has already drunk enough and any music is good.
Sonos can keep up. Impressive for its size.
In JBL, metal sounds good! I'll buy it!
I've owned Sonos / Marshall and I'm currently with JBL charge 5's and quite honestly I can't detect any difference no matter what the reviewers say..

I like the JBL just a bit better.
I had the roam. Sound is great, but not really loud. And I really hated the back button. Tales more than 5s to turn the Roam off. Connection issues with bluetooth on top

The Jbl sound so much better! Much more punch in the bass. I have two of the charge 5. Play in stereo sound amazing.

@@Pablo-hw5ik There are better Anker motion speakers. Cheaper and better than jbl. Design wise JBL is better. Sound is very cheap for the price. Too boomy and out of control bass.

definitivamente mejor calidad de audio y balanceado sonos mucha más fidelidad de audio y equilibrio de frecuencias, jbl no esta mal pero muy chillón y carente de medios, eso sí potencia y refuerzo en graves, fidelidad prefiero Sonos, esa compraré y vaya q tengo jbl en la gama alta de serie eon 615, pero definitivamente aquí gana sonos por fidelidad

For me Roam has better balanced frequencies. Charge is overpowered with treble.

The best way is go to the store, play both and u can easily tell the difference. Your ears will let you know!!!
I will pick up Roam anyway, two of them will make a big difference than just one.
it is overpriced and has distored bass...only good thing is the conenctivity, size,design and treble clarity.rest is not good and it ist just way too expensive for what it is.
maybe would only buy it if you got a sonos system at home and want to add it to it. and if you don't care about money.
else, get some other mobile bluetooth speaker like a anker soundcore motion+, tribit maxsound or even jbl or sony

Sonos treble is too edgy and harsh. JBL has much deeper bass and more detail in its more balanced sound.

I own a jbl charge 5 and i dont really like it thanks to the distortion on the highs that they make. I got to a store and tried sonos move and sonos roam and it was wayyy better for sound quality, But if your a bass head get JBL

Thanks for your review. To be truly objective You should play the same selection of a song and with multiple clips to each speaker under test.... otherwise flipping at random slurrs the results.
