I got the sonos roam. Even though there are similar speakers in the same price point that sound better. The size was one of the main features for me. Also, the ability for this device to connect to your wifi and play songs through alexa with no phone needed makes it super practical for my parents who aren't that tech orientated. As well as having airplay 2 support and wireless charging.
Bought two Roams for my dining area. I’m deep in the Sonos ecosystem. The Roam is awesome. Very happy with the way it integrates with my other Sonos units. Great review as always Floss.

I just got a Roam and no regrets at all. The laws of physics will always cause bigger speakers to push more air. My priority was small and light with smooth detailed sound for my personal listening. I have other more suitable ways of filling a room with pumping bass!
If you have Sonos products already, it's a no brainer. You can pair a bluetooth device then broadcast whatever the audio is playing throughout the house. It's a gateway. Pretty badass.
How jbl is used by all ages and jbl are a lot better quality and I don't see how it is a insult because jbl is a way more professional brand compared to sonos

Did you normalize the volume when comparing the two. Most often louder speakers sound better. To do a fair comparison, you need to adjust both speakers to the same SPL with a meter.
its unfair to compare it to charge 5, you should've compared it to a flip 5 which is somewhat closer size to it. ofcourse bigger speakers would produce more volume bass
I own the Sonos Roam and Bluetooth speakers by Sony and JBL but I prefer the Sonos Roam. The Roam has Google Assistant, Alexa, AirPlay 2, Spotify, Apple Music, and UA-cam music...these other speakers aren't on that level. The Roam is also super portable and can go with you in the shower, sit on your bed, or fit in your back pocket for music on the go. The Roam also connects to the Sonos WiFi network so it shines at home or away from home.
For the price of the Sonos you could get like 4 Tribit Stormbox Micro's and pair two of them together, I assume that would sound better and have the benefit of being seperate speakers you can spread out around the room
I'm telling you gotta test that soundcore motion + I guarantee it will be the best contender for the Charge 5 and it's only 100 bucks 105 for blue or red versions

Yes I agree. I'm new to speakers and just bought a new Red JBL Flip 5. I really like it but only get 7ish hours at full volume rather than 10. Do you think I should upgrade to the JBL Flip 6? Or is there any other brand of speaker you really like and recommend?? I'm looking for something similar in size to the JBL Flip 5 and not as big as the Charge 5 becos it needs to fit in my jacket pocket and the flip5 does. But if you know any speakers of the same size that sound even better, louder, have a longer battery, cool neon lights etc, let me know please!
I agree with everything you said. Listening on my Charge 4, which I think is still the best all around for size and price, because the Charge 5 is $50 more. But I will probably get a Charge 5 anyway. I just don't know why it doesn't have the mini jack and the USB-C jack is not ubder the weather cover with the USB-A jack.
JBL definitely sounds crisper. But the bass on the JBL almost sounded distorted a little compared to the sonos? Could be because it's going through a mic to my ear buds. Definitely would buy the jbl over the sonos.

It all depends on what you want. If you like the small form factor, want Alexa built in and are invested in the Sonos ecosystem the Roam is a strong option. If you are looking for max bass and volume, the JBL is the clear choice.
Want crazy about the ROAM. I got the [Gettin Gritty Wit it] white. Can't touch outside. Lol! It sounds good for the size, but he battery life was nowhere near 10 hours[charging pad required] so I couldn't find myself recommending it to anyone. Glad you liked yours though.
Thanks for your work. Can you compare WiFi audio via bluetooth audio? I am quite sure you compared bluetooth audio between the two which is not fair to Roam. Via WiFi, Roam actually plays lossless audio.

The Sonos may not be as loud as the JBL but it’s got clearer sound with no distortion during playing. I just ordered mine.

Without a shadow of doubt, if you into RnB, Hiphop, Smooth Jazz etc.. JBL is your go to period. Simply due to the BASS presence and crispness too

The tribit Maxsound+ does beat it in terms of sound quality, but it does come with Micro usb. (it's a 50-60$ speaker)
