We have places here where you can buy not only wood but lots of other parts of older homes that have been demolished, railings, stairways, wainscoting, hardwood flooring, light and water fixtures, bricks, many, many wonderful things. Claw foot tubs, fireplaces, hearths, doors, knobs, it goes on and on. A wonderful place to dream. We also have a workshop where developmentally challenged people make furniture, shelves, etc. Great ideas. Your tables are lovely🤩🙋🏼 I keep a bag or little basket taped to my table edge by my right hand by my sewing machine for little cuttings and threads, keeps it much tidier for me. I don’t want my cat eating the threads, a friends cat had an enormous vet bill from having to surgically remove thread from her intestines. Had to have a special high fibre diet for life as well so her bowels would work...I live in fear.😥
What an absolute joy! I was brought up with wood, and visited the local timber yard with my Dad well before I went to school. Then after I married, I was fortunate enough to work in the joiners’ shop where my husband worked. I love to smell of wood, and the character of all the different timbers. I was also lucky enough to learn how to turn timber, which has been a lasting passion too! Thank you for re-kindling happy memories, and sharing your beautiful tables with us!
My dad used to dabble in wood working. In summer when it was so hot he’d work late at night when it was cooler. One of my favourite childhood memories : as a little girl my mom had given me my bath, dressed me in a nightgown and perched me on a stool in my dad’s Woodshop with a bowl of ice cream for my bedtime snack. To this very day the smell of wood and wood shavings are instantly reminiscent of my dad and years gone by 💚
I love your tables! They are a terrific addition to your eclectic collection. My father's thought that a comfy home should be composed of a little of this and some of that. His opinion (he had many) was that a home full of suites of furniture showed a lack of imagination. One of my favorite memories was going with him, on my 10th birthday, to his favorite antique store to choose my own overstuffed chair perfect for reading. It was an enormous wing back chair with a matching footstool. Both were covered in indestructible, muted burgundy horsehair fabric. The chair was so big that my feet barely reached the edge of the cushion. To this day, other than adding additional goose down to the cushion now and then, my itchy treasure remains unchanged. To give you an idea of its sheer bulk, when my grown daughters were small they were sure that it once belonged to King Henry the VIII !
what a lovely story! and you Dad was quite right - a home is made up of carefully selected things acquired over many years - I have been planning these tables for years! xxx
It looks to me that they were bringing back tables that had always been there. I usually knit when we "visit," but tonight I couldn't take my eyes off this. Thanks, Kate 💚💚💚
I love the tables!! My grandfather had a lumber yard when I was a child and I spent my youth climbing over piles of wood. The smell of wood always takes me back to that wonderful playground.
Hi Kate, What a transformation in that corner, it works very well. Love the pottery sequence, could sit and watch quite happily for hours. Thank you for taking the time to put the video together. Chris from Kent
INSPIRING; Love to see the young man on the potters wheel, takes practice and talent to do such beautiful work. Love your tables and the new set up. Really looking forward to 2020 and everything you have planned to share with us.
Your rustic new tables really tie your work and sew spaces together. My old house has nice pine and redwood doors everywhere so I took a few down and made them into tables; one for the dining room and one for my sewing and computer. The natural wood is beautiful with all its history worn into its surface. I agree a frame around your note area would be nice and would make it look like a tidy collage. Do you love your wool pressing mat? I just got myself one! It's perfect next to my machine. Thanks for always sharing your lovely life and wonderful ideas. You are so inspiring to me.
The Wall of Crazy! Ha, ha! What a great way to reorganize your space and save a little of the planet. Love how the salvage operation works to get inventory to make lovely things. Your lunch looked fabulously delicious!! No new Wall of Crazy, as your entire wall set up looks neat and tidy. The frame will look great when it's finished.
I am worried about the Wall of Crazy retiring if I get a big pin board - because that is what I do - add and add things until I'm back where I was - Crazy! we'll see - if I get the pinboard or if I leave it clear....... xxxx
WOW! Those tables are gorgous. What an immense improvement and change. That was a fun visit at the place where the made your tables. I love what they can do with old wood. A friend of mine in the US, Dave Yaden also makes magic with wood and old pallets. When he starts you have trouble believing it would become something really amazing. That place with the pottery was something you normally don't see. Nice to watch pottery being made while munching on some delicious food. That food looked really good. This was a well kept secret and it made the video complete and very nice to watch. 💕💕xxxx
Love your new tables. Their workshop looks just like my husbands and yes we have doors that need fixing and furniture that needs making. The cafe was amazing, how relaxing to just sit with a cuppa and watch them making beautiful pieces.
Lovely change to your room....We get so much pleasure from a reorganization of a space in our homes. My first time watching you and looking forward to more!
I love your tables and seeing you so happy with them is lovely! The wool ironing pad is awesome and I love using mine. The heat and steam do pass through them so be careful that your beautiful tables aren't marred by it. Thank you for sharing your new space.
Hi Kate, your tables are fab, I love all the marks on them and the metal bits on the edge, your workroom looks wonderful and I can understand the joy it must give you to sit there and create.
I love these folks who salvage materials and upcycle them, and the folks who create a market for those materials. Delicious lunch with a friend...what a pleasure, and the artist to top it off. Interesting place. I have always thought your work room is spectacular, and the new customized center you created will be even better. The tables turned out great, enjoy!
Loved the visit to the Wood Yard & your gorgeous tables. Wish there was a place like that near me. Kiln would be somewhere I'd love to visit, on a regular basis. Every time I glimpse your thumbnail, I am reminded of an old wise elephant...love it.
What a cool place to eat! The food looks so good with big pats of butter and you get live entertainment by an artist. Only you, Kate, could find such a unique place. There was also a Norma sighting. You have made my day. I love your new tables, too.
Wonderful quality tables,,I thought you had left some large doll /upholstery needles out, till you went in close & realised they where marks of character .You are going to have many satisfying hours creating ,at you bespoke workplace ,yes they do look like they have always been there, made to measure love them.

Oh wow! love those tables and the new set up...it will work so much better for you and you will love sitting at those lovely tables. Reaally enjoyed the day out with you.X
Beautiful tables, well organized! My husband is a woodworker and he engineers whatever I drawn poorly on paper. He happily makes such beautiful things. So glad you were able to realize your vision! XO
So nice to start off with a clean slat. As we all know our favorite things and places make for a happier crafter. Just a note about the wool pad, be careful when ironing, with steam, that the under surface doesn't get moist. enjoy your new space!
someone else mentioned that - I have got something that would go under it - but the whole point of getting such awesome tables is that I don't have to be too careful - I'll see what happens when I start using it - but I take your point! xxx
Bravo Kate! The tables are wonderful! And the before and after pictures really demonstrates for some of us who might have some similar spots in our houses, what we can do! How freeing! Happy 2020! I was mesmerized by the potter and wish we had such a wonderful place here! Brilliant, I can see why it is your go to place! Cheers, Fern in Minnesota
Thank you for taking us to lunch. A delightful way to not only enjoy delicious food, good company and be inspired watching an artistan at work. Wonderful table with wood with history. Thank you again Kate!!!!!
Wonderful tables. There's something really inspiring about re-used and re-purposed things, especially when you can see signs of their former lives. It's my favorite place to potter about and imagine.
I could feel your excitement when they delivered the tables to you. I love the metal trim on the corners.I thoroughly enjoyed my day out with you to the woodworking yard and the cafe too. Thank you for taking me along. By the way, where you had all your notes on the wall looks so much brighter in that space now.
@@thelasthomelyhouse I do the same! My wall is filled with things I want to do, knitting and sewing patterns, recipes, and places and events I want to attend. I always remove the item when I fulfill it and immediately replace it with several more! Thanks to you, your quilted dog and folded fabric star ornament patterns "made the wall" and tomorrow I am going to visit the Planetarium!
The intro pic looks like an elephants eye. Very cool detail. I love your new tables. I think if you’re going to have rustic tables then may as well leave in all those dings, dents, and marks. The wood has a story to tell and It would be a shame to erase that story. I love that they rounded the corners and added the metal straps. Brilliant detail.
I asked them to leave in more of the damage - the saw marks - the paint - the lettering - all of that - I just love things that have had a previous life xxx
Such a wonderful change and so energising isn't it when you make a simple change that brings such joy! Love the wood tables with all its unique markings!!
I've just found you recently and I'm really enjoying watching you get on with things. I used to do so much hand crafting and have got away from it, mostly because life got busy. Well life is getting less busy and I'm inspired to go back to some of these things. Thanks for the inspiration! Also, the tables are lovely.
Loved this! Lovely tables can see why your delighted with them. I love your haberdashery unit with all those lovely drawers ❤️everything looks so interesting to look at.
The tables are wonderful, I love recycling and repurposing. The whole corner looks like it's been there for a while. So nice when an idea comes together as we had hoped. The cafe is so inviting, would love to go there.
Just thought I’d let you know I’ve been busy hand sewing and have been binge watching “Anne with an E” on your comments . Loved loved it. Wish there was a series 4. Just sayin. Xxxxx Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 I did get some sewing done though 🙈😂😂😂
I was very excited watching this video as I am moving back to the north east next month after 6.5 years in NZ. You visited two places I had never heard of so I must go and have a look for myself now. Great video as always Thanks
Green trees and no coat -- wow! -- is it ever winter in Newcastle? I love everything about that recycled wood shop and your host, Chris, was adorable. They made you wonderful pieces. LOVE.
I filmed that on a particularly beautiful day in September - the tables took a while to come and then I was caught up in the Advent postings - so this is the first chance I've had to share this - better late eh? can't wait to have warm days like that again! xxx
Kate, how blessed you are! I love handmade wood furniture. My husband has a woodshop. He makes birdhouses and gnome homes that we place on stumps all over our woods. And he recently made me a cabinet with a live edge top for our dining room.
Beautiful tables! My hubby has just got back into wood turning and is in the process of make me a coffee table! Not sure they will look as good as yours but I’m sure they’ll be lovely! I love your home and it keeps inspiring me to make changes to mine xx
I love the new set-up with those fabulous tables, it makes such a difference. Its so nice to visit the wood yard and be shown around where they made the lovely tables. What a great cafe you went to with your friend, I wish we had interesting places like that where I live. We just have very ordinary cafes! Looking forward to your next video. 😀
Love your new tables, they look fabulous, what a great idea to put them there Kate, so much better than your other set up 😉 and what a fabulous cafe you went to,I wonder if you made the Guy working the pots hungry, your food looked delicious too x
Wow very nice, my hubby loves to repurpose wood and has done many projects that way. Your tables look great and I’m sure your going to love the setup. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing the quilt you’re referring to. 👍❤️😊
The tables are beautiful and perfect in your house , with all the other shelves you have. The DMC cottons case is lovely ! The Wood Yard you went is a place I would spent hours in .
Absolutely beautiful pieces of timber . I want them. If you were to see my craft room -oh my heavens what a mess. Love them in that they are here for ever . I’m inspired as usual . Can’t wait to see the frame on the wall with your ideas. Love this vid. cheers from Australia where down south we are in the midst of terrible fires. The trees that are being burnt is awful. Anyway Australia will bounce back . Xxxxxx
Sending love to you as you face this terrible time - I'm not so sure the planet will bounce back unless we take some serious action to help it. xxx sadly xxx
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts . We are a strong nation (I was born in Scotland in fact) and having lived here since I was 5 and I’m now 67 the mix of British blood and Aussie upbringing we will mend this or try. Yes the planet is in a mess and if every household was to at least try something to amend it we might make a difference . Our schools are onto it big time and the little ones are learning now. Thanks again for thinking of us down under. Glad you brought a tree back to be loved and I’m sure it will be there for Agnes to enjoy . Glad you purchased a living Xmas tree too. Yeah for you. Xxxx
How exciting! It's like a Christmas present to yourself. Whenever I would buy myself something special around Christmas, I would say it was a present from Ms Clause. And, you'll always remember your day with your friend as you sit there. So lovely. Thank you for sharing ❤️.
Wow! The cafe looks amazing - I wish we had something like that here, although we do have a cafe that is basically a shrine to cats, it's called Kitty Cafe and even has cats roaming around in there lol! Love your table! x

Chris is charming with his blush! The tables are wonderful and now you won't be worried about putting the first marring spot on them. Looks fantastic.

I'm sure they get pretty well fed! xxx
Wow very nice, my hubby loves to repurpose wood and has done many projects that way. Your tables look great and I’m sure your going to love the setup. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing the quilt you’re referring to. 👍❤️😊
Beautiful tables and a good workspace. A nice video about a good experience!
those tables are absolutely gorgeous. 😍
Xxxxxx
Stay safe!
Xxxx
Devna Roberts . Thanks devna. Xxxx cheers from Oz

The tables and new set up are brilliant!
The tables are fabulous! 💖🌸
Love your table! x
