    I spent a year in a house that wasn't insulated without running the furnace. Ran the AC in the summer but I wrapped water lines with heat tape and let the rest run its course. It's amazing how much body heat we create with caloric intake and blankets. Slept the entire Illinois winter with no furnace, space heaters, etc. Just wrapping myself up at night. Amazing what we can actually get through when the mindset is getting through the night.

    Love the video.
    One observation if I may :
    I am ex US NAVY , well trained in fire fighting. " NEVER PUT YOUR FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT behind the fire source. If the place catches fire it would most likely be at the fire source.
    The first thing that goes through most people's mind in a fire is to get out, there for the fire extinguisher should be placed by the door exit. You can then fight the fire and have an exit plan in case it all hits the fan. Also place all the fuel cans away from the fuel source. I'm not a safety nanny, just thought I would share some useful information. Stay safe .

    I have a farm about 80 miles from where I live. My brother and I put a Lowe’s storage building in the woods as a hunting cabin. We insulated it very well run LED lights off of a solar setup. we use a small gas heater and it’s warm as can be. It doesn’t get as cold in Alabama, so mostly the 20-30s at night, 40s during the day.

      @@TolbersCamping so the whole point of tapestries in medieval times was to create a barrier between the cold stone of a castle walls and the air that has been heated by the fire. When I was in the army me and my battle buddy would each pack an extra shelter half in our ruck sacks when we had to be out in the field during cold weather exercises. This allowed our shelter to have a double and created a void space between inner and outer walls.

The smell of a wood stove is fantastic. If the lights go out during an epic storm there will be no worries about keeping warm which is why I got my cabin. So thanks for the information. I know an old man who lives in an unheated, un-insulated shed in Lone Elm, Missouri. Tolbers Camping has all sorts of useful gadgets that he can use to stay warm. Gordon has none of this. The best I was able do for him today (he uses a repurposed wheelbarrow to transport food pantry supplies and other things) was to give him some blankets, clean T-shirts, long johns, a can opener (for non-flip-top cans), a thick wool scarf, some socks (none matched, but who cares?), some heavy-duty plastic garbage bags, a piece of a tarp, and some rope. Any ideas for what else I might get for Gordon? I help several people in different ways, so I can't put all of my limited resources into one person, but if I can narrow down certain necessities that help him that would be great.

    Nice. I love a good grilled cheese sandwich every once in a while. I like dill pickles with mine. I think you are more obsessed with lanterns and stoves than I am. LOL. I have more flashlights than lanterns though. Was that flashlight the Fenix TK16 version 2? That's my planned next one. I also like my heater buddy, but I have just the small one and a Coleman catalytic heater.
    Looks like you had a lot of fun. I enjoyed your video and just subscribed today. Thanks

      @TolbersCamping  2 роки тому

      Thanks Barry! Yes I have the Fenix TK16 version 2. Flashlight is amazing, makes it like daylight in middle off the woods. Video does not do justice as the camera closes lens to balance light as your turn it up. Both mr heaters are great, sometimes the big one is overkill plus weighs more so I’ll just take the smaller one depending on what I’m doing.

    Congrats on everything. 10mm will be good enough just bring bear spray as your first option the gun as a last resort. Don’t forget to buy a good holster and belt for it. Just keep on making vids. Anything outdoors with good food is always entertaining. Maybe camping with food and stuff from the dollar store with a budget just an idea.

    You are the picnic master homie !! I love them snacks and grilled cheese too haha...I plan on implementing your foodie style vanning in my 2009 caravan no build... Hey I have a slim twin bed frame in my caravan it's like 28 in wide and I use an air mattress on it it's 14 inches high I need to cut about 2 inches off the legs but your cot gave me a really good idea... I wonder if that cot would sit on top of three really big totes.... There would be your storage underneath but you could disassemble the cot quickly when you are done using it and rearrange those totes however you needed to to make more of a living space inside the van.... That cot is cool I love how it breaks down quickly and easily hey what are the specs on that sleeping bag what's it rated for? Thank you so much for sharing that's really cool you're getting your daughter into camping too my daughter is only one year old but hoping to take her camping someday!!

      Lol thanks bro! This cot is super nice for portability and strength for how light it is. I put in description if you want to look it up. It’s pretty expensive but as you know you get what you pay for. I put a link to the sleeping bag also and it’s rated for -35F which is -37 Celsius. It’s very large also so you can stick you whole body in it

    Make sure to get the mr buddy filter for that propane connection or you will foul the heater. There is a propane filter for that setup and always make sure to shut off tank and let heater run out the fuel or you will damage it. Take my word on it!

    hey for about $15 you can get an adapter on amazon and you can refill those 1lb tanks for about $1. also keep in mind that those big tanks are 20lb, but kwik trip and other gas stations only fill them to 15lbs and charge about $20. but if you go to the hardware store or coop they will fill them all the way to 20lbs for about $20.
