this is one of those songs i'm gonna listen to for the rest of my life
me too friend
Same here I made a song on the spot to this.
when did you last listen?
@@pinetrees92 today
Used to listen to this in college 2006 and still stuck in my head.
I've been listening to this album for over ten years, and the key change in this song at 1:23 gets me every single time. It's so perfectly perfect.
I will never forget where I was.
Seriously one of the best transitions in a song. I love it
@@NM-nk2ol😮 0:27
this riff at the end... nobody on the internet can play it properly... that's why it's so incredible!
I almost got it son !lmao
For me, easily one of the most memorable songs ever made
1:23 begins what is considered by me to be one of the best melodies ever created.
LasseK rage is garbage
+Homeless angry black man Took me a while to figure out what you were saying. Lol. That game had an awful lot of hype...
Cosign.
I don't know what it is exactly, but very few songs connect with me emotionally as much as the second half of this song.
I know, the first half is great but the second half is simply fantastic. Every time it comes up I'm grinning without even realizing it
Always coming back to this song
2024 and this song is as real as ever
And just like that 15 years have gone by. This song is still close to me.
For Real. I used to be young and in college with nothing but friends and parties to go to. Life has changed.
One of my favorite tracks right now..
listening to this song while looking out my apartment window at all the skyscrapers and people on the streets bustling around...fucking surreal...
Such a great song and the video goes perfectly with it. One of the best bands of the 2000's.
I've listened to this song hundreds of times and it never gets old.
The date of the newspaper--Nov.10th, 1968-- was the launch of Zond 6, 2nd unmanned circumlunar/return flight.
A great video, with even greater song.
I agree. The first time I heard this song, I instantly fell in love with the chord change. :)
Ever since I first heard this song years ago, I keep coming back to it! I am happy to say I'm finally seeing them live at wayhome 🙏
This song has got one of my favorite bridges.
HA! Good news! In early 2016 Wolf Parade has announced new tour dates and up coming new music. All is well in this modern world.
+David Henning 2016 is gonna be another amazing year for new music, just like 2015, maybe even better. M83, PJ Harvey, Wolf Parade, Swans, Weezer, Yeasayer, Black Mountain, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Wilco, Modest Mouse, Iggy Pop, Explosions in the Sky, The Last Shadow Puppets, Deftones, The Lumineers, Wire, Aesop Rock, etc. I'm SO EXCITED!
I can't turn this up anymore!!! argh!!
love wolf parade.
very awesome. stop motion is always cool.
You can see where Arcade Fire get their inspiration from...
I've always loved this song, and wow, what a powerful video. It just brings you down.
i’ve only heard their “you are a runner and i am my father's son” this is sounds good too. gonna check them out more
this is the first song by wolf parade i ever listened to such fond memories one of the best indie rock outfits out there their up there with modest mouse they are so great
Been using this for 15 years as my intro music to my Global issues class
So little views? Such a great song and video. Keep it up Sub Pop, you've been awesome since you changed the world with Kurt.
Dick Buttkiss The artist/designers of this did such a great job. You can see the disappointment in the uh..'characters' faces when they realize you can make music with a computer now and the human element is gone.
Love playing the melody on guitar for my kids. Sounds so uplifting and hopeful
The drums in this are amazing.
at 1:05 my foot was in synch with the foot in the video, just one of those random small little things that makes me smile.
Isaac Brock as well! Also, Dan of Wolf Parade helped on Islands' Return to the Sea. All these bands play with each other.
This is a song that haunts my brain. I'll never stop listening to this. I'm 32 be listening until I'm 82
Well, I'm glad they at least decided to use microphones and recording devices and camcorders to bring this joyous delight to mine eyes.
0:51 some of the best vocals in the entire album
The video is about the advancement of edm. Its showing that even musican are beginning to become obsolete. Its saying a lot more then I think a lot of people understand. The people who have acquired mass amounts of money over the last hundered years are moveing passed the people who did not. Sooner or later we are all going to be out sourced whether you make your living working in a factory, your a mechanic, nurse, grocery story clerk or musician the rich are looking for replacements for us all.
"I'm not in love with the modern world...."
machines will never replace the human spirit.
I'm not in love with the modern world
I'm not in love with the modern world
It was a torch driving the savages back to the trees
Modern world has motorways
And automation in a senseless chain
While the people go out and the people come home again
[Verse 2]
It's got lies to build up your eyes
And a lifetime of red skies
And from my bed, the sound of haunting, hissing in the bed
Modern world don't ask why
Cause modern world will build things high
Now they house canyons filled with life
[Refrain]
Modern world, I'm not pleased to meet you
You just bring me down
Great Job Video-Fantastic song.
Most important line: “In the modern World, we don’t ask why.” Question everything.
almost cried when they were replaced with a machine
i also agree
J'adore !
Great song off a great album!
Beautiful
I'm not in love with the modern world
I'm not in love with the modern world
It was a torch driving the savages back to the trees
Modern world has more ways
And I don't mention it since it's changed
While the people go out and the people come home again
It's gotta last to build up your eyes
And a lifetime of red skies
And from my bed the sound of your haunted hissing in my bed
Modern world don't ask why
Cause modern world will build things high
Now they house canyons filled with life
Modern world I'm not pleased to meet you
You just bring me down
Modern world I'm not pleased to meet you
You just bring me down
Modern world I'm not pleased to meet you
You just bring me down
Modern world I'm not pleased to meet you
You just bring me down
sweet. I didn't know that.
great song.!!!! awesome creative video!! dign this one!
one of my favorite songs to this day.
I really liked this song, but I was always wondering where I heard this song before. Then it hit me! It's similar-sounding to America's "A Horse with no name." I mean, the songs are completely different, but they feel similar.
Who's listening in 2015?
2017 - This and "fine young cannibals"
No one. It's 2017.
yep, 2017
Isaac Brock AND Arcade Fire helped. That's one awesome album
This video is amazing
Couldn't help but think of this video after seeing what AI is capable of in current year.
awsome video, nice song
great
This is so uncanny Valley I love it
I'm pretty upset I'm just discovering this in 2015. Great stuff.
Gordon Welsh Better late than never.
Same, I'm even later to the party. Any recs on similar stuff?
On a side note the same singer is in the operaters, so I recommend faithless and cold light
When 2015 was FOUR years ago what the fuck
@@cb9811 the singer in this track is Dan but Spencer also sings. Both men are other bands you may enjoy.
check out the following works
Handsome Furs - "Dead & Rural"
Wolf Parade - "Shine A Light"
Handsome Furs - "Hearts Of Iron"
Sunset Rubdown - "Stadiums & Shrines ii"
Wolf Parade - "I'll Believe In Anything"
Amazing, it really shows how far technology can go into replacing things humans do....
Brilliant statement.
i thought this was the coolest music video!!!!
Maybe... just maybe... the human spirit will continue to shine through even during periods of anguish. Perhaps, the human spirit will shine through in a much more sincere fashion through its anguish. Maybe? It's up for debate.
Holy sh*t. 13 years ago.
fuckin great band
play this vid simultaniously with Modern World (both audio tracks together):
ugh such a good song it hurts :)
so sad but kinda right
That was a very interesting music video.
2017, revive this.
@L07EK The Machines already did replace human spirit. People already work like machine, they move, they live their lives in exactly same way everyday. There is plenty of people who live that way and its sad. Not even to mention whats gonna happen if the machines actually are going to replace humans, then what are they gonna do with their lives?
Haven't heard this since 07 good stuff, and so true I hate our modern world
“In the modern world, happiness is a well chosen set of antidepressants.”
Because everything's a notepad. /Al Tz. Heimers/
Who listened to this in 2007? :)
How about 2019?
LasseK... I completely agree
So deep it makes me sad =(
But it's fucking great =)
@L07EK so deep
I like the simple things that are mechanical or crudely constructed that are easier to work on .i dont put alot of trust in computers. im like a machine that works twice as hard the old fashioned way.
Listening to this song makes me very unhappy. Evokes memories only of hopes allayed, senses diminished. That bridge's resolution to the problem posed by its antecedent development seems like such an enigma to me now. Time, how it effects the disposition.
"Modest Mouse covers this song tomorrow please."
,dan' (...now I want you to get that off my desk right now and get that on my desk by morning!)
@CoPezz Yes, sir.
i just love how they remind me of Modest Mouse.
this is great and all, but have you ever listened to wolf parade's ep?
machines will replace the human spirit if people don't stop treating each other like they have no spirit ;)
The vocals are so Nirvana like
Machines shouldn't be feared. ^^ Give 'em humanity is prob the best thing we can give to the world. They then in turn extend the standard of living of all others. We'll create them in our image, egotistical yes, but not without its good. My only worry is May the intent of their creation be virtuous. For the benefit of ALL mankind and botz.
Reminds me of Humbert Humbert😢
Dare I say
"I'm not compensating with compensation."
,dan'
This song is too short.
1:52 it's Bezos
Machine in the video reminds me of the Z-machines. Check em out. Squarepusher uses em in a video. Programmable music robots.
@daftrhetoric at 1:29?
1:21
"Wolf Parade does a cover of Cowboy Dan and Coyotes in the dark. Like with the lights out or without them being on."
,dan' (omdbm!)
cool song, is this tool though? j/k :)
Maybe, but people still wash dishes, we still use paper, concerts still play and artists still use canvases and paint. Computers and machines certainly are a part of our lives, as they have been for centuries. Things have always changed, but are rarely replaced completely. People themselves haven't changed in 100,000 years, even if our technology changes, we like real, visceral experiences. Did facebook REPLACE talking to your friends? I doubt it. Technology is supplemental to being human.
When I listen to this song, I feel like I'm banging my head against wall - but the guitar solo is irresistable. I'd like an instrumental version of this one. Just with a choir or a cello in place of vocals. about 15% of lyrics are contaminated anyway. That is why I can not say that everytime I listen to this song I delightfully dwell in existencial pain - there's this contamination factor - instead it opens up a set of discussions about topics I'd rather forget about.
