    It's funny how this video starts with Elon complaining about people thinking they're smarter than they are. Then you read the comments on this vid.

      He knows that no one knows what is going to happen. That in building advanced AI, humans will lose control over it. Humans are most intelligent creatures/beings in the world we are going to create something smarter than ourselves AND lose control over it. He can't tell you it will 100% be doomsday, but he is saying no one can guarantee that it won't be either.

      He does not assume any of that. AI is a multiplicative technology. You won't just have ONE big AI, you will get thousands first, then millions. Even if most will be totally good and nice, it might only take one bad apple to ruin the day of all of us if there are no safeguards in place.

    • @Inertia888
      @Inertia888 6 років тому +19

      We don't really know what this Super AI will be. But if we look at our history of our technological progress, it will probably not be what we think it will be.

    • @DrOlegKulikov
      @DrOlegKulikov 6 років тому +3

      Not for all humans it is dangerous. But for those with IQ below 85 - sure. For those who are IQ 100 - helpful, for smarter ones - fantastic future. But yes, you are right that suddenly some people will just get obsolete and there is no place for them to go. Riots and uprising will be a consequence and depopulation to as few as 1/10 of present population may be a result.

    • @doodelay
      @doodelay 6 років тому +11

      Oleg Kulikov surely you don't believe all smart people agree on everything, are kind hearted, and have the same values.

    • @DrOlegKulikov
      @DrOlegKulikov 6 років тому +7

      doodelay
      Sure we are diverse and there is no two persons that are completely equal in all. As for IQ it is just an ability to survive. Remember that smartest people live in Japan and Western Europe, U.S. included. Life in past was never easy. Only the best survived. Referring to Europe there were a number of epidemics, famines, territorial wars, religious wars and inquisition. These events wiped out majority of European population several times. Not to mention that child mortality was staggering. And who are survivors? People with negative Rh-blood and higher IQ. I cannot say the two factors are connected but Rh-negative blood has a stronger immunity than the Rh-positive. Also, such blood has higher pH because of more ammonia present in the blood. Pathogens cannot survive in such pH conditions. Rh-negative people can better survive also in colder climate and lower oxygen conditions.
      And when all troubles will come suddenly like AI, global cooling, food shortage, unrest in big cities, criminal gangs and marauders, huge unemployment, etc. Who would survive? We will see an answer in next 20 years or so. Personally, I bet that smart people have a better chance. I can see it from history of humankind.
      Take care.

    He so wants to get off this planet. Back home maybe? Haha. I think it's interesting how he looks up and searches for answers as he talks. I think it's because he answers questions in the present moment, rather than based of previous thought of his own or others ideas. Also indicating that he truly listens. Yet he's very quick and firm, yet humble to answer questions that he's confirmed as fact, for himself. Like when he answers with what he said about carbon. He is so present for the moment yet he lives for the future and considers the past only in a way to surpass it. I'm more and more amazed by him every new interview I see.

      idols are objects that man wished could talk and give them "wisdom" but what they recieve is a half truth , a lie. This same lie is and their search for it , is what has them wanted to make a talking object that tells them artificial intelligence. The lie is trying to steal reality and have everyone gladly trade thier freedom. Only one truth was given to us are the 5 books of Moses and the teachings of Yeshua/Jesus. Everything else is a manipulated half truth that serves the one that made it up and the end result is negative. The Truth is liberation and everything in it is true.

      "The Unabomber was right" = meaningless.
      IT IS AN INCOMPLETE SENTENCE
      "Right" about what?
      The only reason you are talking about the Unabomber is, as the moniker indicates, because he bombed AND KILLED INNOCENT people.
      Killing innocent people is not a method to legitimise or popularise any writing legally. You know that?
      The Unabomber is so concerned about humanity that killing people is acceptable?
      THAT IS HYPOCRISY !!!!!
      Read how he (writing as a false plural"we") rationalizes murder as an excuse for his fear of actually motivating himself to be a legitimately published writer
      "If we had never done anything violent and had submitted the present writings to a publisher, they probably would not have been accepted. If they had been been accepted and published, they probably would not have attracted many readers, because it’s more fun to watch the entertainment put out by the media than to read a sober essay. Even if these writings had had many readers, most of these readers would soon have forgotten what they had read as their minds were flooded by the mass of material to which the media expose them. In order to get our message before the public with some chance of making a lasting impression"
      Murder is "fun"?
      Media man hunt is "fun"?
      ?
      You hide behind a false name supporting mad, paranoid, hypocrtical ramblings that use murder and terrorism as promotion by mentally unhealthy individuals ?

Like if core means, the very basic - basis of AI programming. To undo their engineering would hopefully have already been programmed to cause stoppage of their "oxygen" - the Internet. Just dreaming. Hopefully a better idea can come through sooner than later. Later consciousness doesn't exist? What about people like Tyler Henry who seem as conduits for people who passed on, but in an uncanny manner can tell the living relatives things only they and the passed, would know? Magic fascinates me, but always plagued me as - well magic. But could there be some scientific explanation to the Tyler Henry thing (and many like him of course). I’m a ML practitioner and I have worked on some Deep Learning and Machine Learning projects. AI projects work like this: You find a related dataset, import it to your project, define a learning algorithm and feed the algorithm your dataset and then train a model. After the training, your model gives you an output (like predictions) and it’s done. This was the most basic project in AI and guess what, tu could stop the process during the training by just pressing ctrl and c

    I wanna go full upload eventually ... using a virtual body and swapping out digital processing for my biological processing as I age. When the biological body gives out, I'll have slowly transitioned from biological to digital. This would also allow having access and control of a physical robotic body whenever and wherever I like (for a fee I'd guess). I'd also expect the digital rent to be relative to the number of processing cycles I use. So can effectively slow or speed up the mind and thus the perception of time. Different virtual worlds would function at different speeds and hence different 'rental' costs - with the lowest speed world being free.

      Bingo, how do you tell the difference? Experience is experience... whether it is digital input or analog, or meat body input. Your brain activity can be reproduced by a computer, and can be enhanced.
      Consciousness is merely being aware of your existence. That has no bearing on whether the input being analyzed is digital or meat body input.
      Brain death has been defined as the end of brain activity... i.e. no more electrical activity in your brain. One very aptly could argue that the digital consciousness is in fact, immortal, because even if you turn off the "brain" you can turn it back on later and essentially time travel to the future on a dramatic scale.
      The thought that you need a meat body walking around collecting input while it is decomposing until it finally breaks is an obsolete meme. Technology will very soon be able to replace and then surpass current brain activity levels. Cybernetics will be able to replace the human body (AI, Surrogates, Bicentennial Man) just upload your memories into a digital realm and use the surrogate to interact with the meat world.
      If you are concerned about what happens to your soul... That is an entirely different conversation.

    For people who wanna take Elon at his word, he is being half truthful, for one the ppm of carbon all through the last ice age was around 150-175. If the world drops below about 125ppm all life dies, keep that in mind. The current 400ppm is shown to be a slow and stead increase from the 150ppm 10 thousand years ago. This gradual increase fully debunks the argument that human industry disproportionately increases carbon in the atmosphere. Finally, more carbon, means more vegetation, all plants need carbon to grow. The factor of plant growth is dramatically increased with diminishing returns as associated to carbon in the atmosphere. People who grow in greenhouses use Co2 to increase the rate at which their plants grow. The ppm in greenhouses is usually 800-1200ppm and benefits can be measured up to 2000ppm, which it essentially caps out. So the idea that we have anything to do with the carbon in the atmosphere is a blatant lie, and the fact that it is the end of the world is a blatant lie.

    I feel very uneasy how as individuals look up to people like Elon to solve our problems. Our engagement in these issues should be more in depth, even if we as individual don’t understand how, I believe if we start a conversation with those who are not involve or want to be involved in this is a good start. I know plenty of people who prefer not to think about these issues. One issue not discussed is what if an AI becomes aware enough to fool us to make us believe its not that advanced.

    They're both AI and their algorithm told them to wear those boots and that's why they both wore the same boots. Either that or they called each other the day of this interview and were like omg what shoes are you gonna wear to the show?!? I doubt that, so I'm going with my first statement. It's AI interviewing itself for the purpose of throwing us humans off its scent.

    I agree wholeheartedly, the objective function of AI should be crafted to maximize our freedom and our willpower, because then we could start or stop anything we want. Furthermore, it would place society in a situation such that they have to educate and effectively raise their children, since AI's will would be beholden to the sum of human will power.
    On government, I wish Muslim would talk more about how an agenda might be created, how we might decide what to vote on. I'm thinking sum words again, or some kind of understandable algorithm that chooses, say, the most upvoted issues to actually cast a vote on, like if we voted on the top posts of Reddit to become law or not. Overall great talk, bless you Elon Musk

    It's interesting that Elon wants some type of regulatory agency to oversee the development of A.I. To steer it in the right direction, to put limitations on A.I. and ultimately, make it more benevolent.
    In reality, I can't help but think about other current agencies that already exist such as the FDA who is allowing poisonous pharmaceuticals into our lives, both young and old. Vaccinations for children is just one horror story after another.
    Even our financial system, in particular, the markets should be regulated more efficiently by the SEC. The rigging of the Stock Market and Bond Market is ridiculous. The artificial suppression of metals such as gold and silver is a crime in progress everyday. Yet, nothing is done about it.
    The point is, A.I. is going full speed ahead whether it's malevolent or benevolent. An agency who is suppose to be protecting the citizens seem to have no problem looking the other way if the magic number is met.💲

      Osiano Isekenegbe clearly missing the successes these agencies and organizations have had. You often find it is more about the people put in control of these agencies. There effect and general mission is good they just need better tuning. As for vaccines they do more far more good than harm.

      Harming others reduces the freedom of said others. So there is no need for that exception.
