- Our first stop on Norwegian Bliss, Juneau Alaska! We had an amazing time at the Mendenhall Glacier and its breathtaking view. After that we headed to the bay for another great experience, the whale watching, where we saw lots of humpback whales!

Excellent video as always! Not gonna lie - the more I learn about Alaska cruises, the more I don’t want to do one. Beautiful scenery, but the cold, dreary, nasty weather and port problems are a bummer.

Being a true Floridian I love the cold. It’s a nice change from our heat! Sometimes you have to get on a plane to see other parts of the world. Not my favorite thing to do though Lol. Rob

What excursion were you on that got you so close to the glacier and up to the visitor center? How much walking did you do? I want to see these things, but can’t walk a mile each way to see the glacier or the falls. Great video. First I’ve seen of yours. Thank you. I want to do the whale watching too! 😊
Thank you Linda! The excursion was Whale Watching with Mendenhall Glacier, the bus actually stops very near the entrance of the visitors center by the glacier, there is not a lot of walk, just a wooden path if u wanna get close to the lake, and to access the visitors center there are elevators and easy ramp available!
You saw lots of whales! Which excursion were you on? Were they booked from a cruise ship? Or did you book them after you were on shore? I want to see whales, too. I’ll be on the Sapphire Princess. Thank you for your help. I need to book my excursion, 😊
I found the excursion on Alaska Shore Excursions website, and the name of the company is Alaska Tales! We did the same excursion twice (on this video, which was last year), and again with the same company this year (you can check the other vlog as well, titled We Are back in Juneau!) According to the guide, there were no Bears, because they were still hibernating in the beginning of May. They start coming out in the end of May.
Thank you, for today's video. Who did you book the excursion with and what was the price compared to booking with NCL?
Douglas we booked with Alaska Shore Excursions, and I think between Rob, my mom and I the different was around $150… We did book the Juneau Tram with Norwegian which the all day pass was pretty cheap, but unfortunately the Goldbelt tram was closed, so they gave us a refund!
When were you here? I will be in Juneau towards the end of April this year.

Hi, what time of the year is this? We’re due to sail on Oct. 21. Also, are the whale watching boats large? Im not good in small boats. Makes me nervous.
Hi Susan, we did beginning of May last year, and end of June this year! Boats with Alaska Tales were big (as seen on this video), they have 2 levels and restroom!
Never been in October in AK, but next year we’ll prolly do end of September! So we’ll see the differences between May (end of Winter, beginning of Spring), June (Summer) and September (beginning of Fall)!
I’m expecting there to be a lot of rain when we go. If we can get one clear night, I’m hoping for the northern lights. My husband was deployed to Alaska for 18 months while in the service and said pictures do it no justice.
