As someone who places value on leisure, it seems kind of silly (to me) to work an extra job just so that you can afford to pay a BMW car note. Why not wait until you're making more than 80k or living in a less expensive place than Southern California to have that kind of a car? As a comparison for folks who don't live on the coasts or in super expensive areas, what she makes is equivalent to 54k in the midwest (indiana, michigan etc.). Idk anyone who earns 54k that would buy a brand new BMW.

She’s smart and motivated! Just wondering though: she has 25k in savings which makes sense assuming she’s been working about 1 year. But in a comment she said she also has 50k invested in the stock market. How did she get that money when after tax she makes *roughly* 40k?

Alexander Kang other’s joy is another’s bore. A corolla might not bring as much joy as a bimmer does, and vice versa, because it rly depends on what you like, regardless of the price points. Im also speaking as a self made who has a bimmer but started with a corolla. I like the bimmer better, not the wisest financial decision, but definitely made me a happier person. Despite my increased income, i dont buy designers shoes or fashion, because it doesnt bring me happiness. At the end of the day, Purchases has less to do with rationale. you buy what u think is worth it, and that’s completely subjective.

"The majority of Wendy's expenses were covered by FAFSA." FYI: FAFSA is a form you fill out. It is not a fund. It enables universities to offer funding. CNBC is a money-focused program. Do better!
Everything is a depreciating asset. Even your life. So why do anything? Just wait for death right? Point is, there's no point in making money if you don't buy things that bring you happiness. Not everything has be about appreciating and depreciating... Some things are about happiness. Try having a positive outlook. Spend money on things you like because everything is depreciating asset. For example: mattresses are also depreciating asset.. but they bring comfort. So the same way a car brings comfort and happiness. Try having an outlook that is about happiness.

How is she living on 80k when she splits the cost of living with her boyfriend so you have to factor what the boyfriends income is also because she’s not living on her own
Because that is how much she makes. Splitting expensive can be considered a factor that helps you save, but it doesn’t mean that you are not living off of the income that you earn every year. You’re just spending less of it. It saves more to shack up
A person who makes 80k a year, who is spending 40 000$ on a car, is suppose to give me an advice for investing money? Buying that kind of car on that salary might be one of the worst purchases.

Just saying. $150/month for food and eating out? Well, that's simply not true. (Numbers below are CAD, while she is in USD, but still, for reference) Assuming you eat 3 meals a day, you average $1.60-$2 a meal? A single chicken leg costs more than that ($3). A single package of dried noodles costs more than that ($4 for 2 servings). Even eating bulk white rice, with nothing else will come out to over $1 per meal to get even 1500 calories a day (rice here is about $6.90 per kg, at 1300 calories per kg, eating only rice, you would still spend $240 on food and that's literally the baseline of survival). $50 a month eating out is literally McDonalds, 4 times.
Wow, I am so glad you realize what a wacky move buying that car was! Live and learn, right? Living with your boyfriend is living with your roommate. His wife (the woman he really desires) won't have to pay half the rent.

Why are there no videos on her UA-cam channel?
I love how she admits that she regrets buying the car
$720 a month for car repayment is crazy, don’t blame her for regretting such an unwise purchase.
I LOVE this channel! It has helped me realize that you don't have to make millions to live a comfortable.
I was also inspired to start my own channel!
Please keep producing this great content!
Right
As someone who places value on leisure, it seems kind of silly (to me) to work an extra job just so that you can afford to pay a BMW car note.
Because no one wants to live in those bumass locals 😂
Lord please help your daughter with the thyroid cancer in her body, I thank you because she’s an amazing Queen helping others in need! God bless you Queen in Jesus’ name Anen!

She’s smart and motivated! Just wondering though: she has 25k in savings which makes sense assuming she’s been working about 1 year. But in a comment she said she also has 50k invested in the stock market. How did she get that money when after tax she makes *roughly* 40k?
outsidegirl100 probably an older acct , meaning she’s had it before pulling this job. Or side hustles and gifts invested overtime in addition to her main job🤷🏾♀️
After tax? How lol
40k after taxes? I work in CA and make 85k a year and I take home roughly 55-60k a year after taxes though I'm married. I'm sure she takes atleast 50k some after taxes.

@@InvestedMillennial I did the same thing as you and bought a 4 series when I graduated from grad school lol. It's an awesome car!
You realize she's driving a million dollar car right? Complete waste of money. By the way, I'm speaking as a self-made millionaire driving a used Corolla, paid in cash.
i believe theres some things u can be frugal on, some not. everyone have diff priorities in life
Maybe you
Alexander Kang other’s joy is another’s bore.
She says she’s conservative with money but pays almost 700 dollars per month on an old BMW
Kudos to Wendy she has a whole lot on her plate and she's juggling it all so well.
graduated UCLA debt free, traveled around the world, makes 80k a year, has 25k in savings, and studying to get into an MBA program while pursuing youtube..wow she really has it all together...truly inspiring work ethic as a fellow Latina and senior college student
No way only $150 a month on food, especially with eating out!
"The majority of Wendy's expenses were covered by FAFSA." FYI: FAFSA is a form you fill out. It is not a fund. It enables universities to offer funding. CNBC is a money-focused program. Do better!
Almost everyone knows what it means when you get money from FAFSA
Love her story. However, Cars are depreciating assets. That BMW is a bad investment. Financially, a bad idea but if you can afford it, good for you
Everything is a depreciating asset.
Except for japanese cars like toyota, not as european
Graham will be disappointed. Not enough bad decision macking from wendy !
Nicky Rostan the BMW is a good one. Not contributing to a 401k first is a good one

I'd be more interested in seeing how people who aren't lucky enough to have stable full-time employment with quality health care deal with medical issues, especially ones that could put you out of work for months. I really don't see how it's revenant to her financial situation if it didn't impact her financially at all.

I couldn’t imagine paying $1,795 on a one bedroom apartment. That just sounds absurd to me!
AR least tge rent gets split, some have to pay rents like tha on their own.
It's LA dude
JJ I’m aware
That’s only 900 per person! That’s pretty cheap considering it’s probably a nice place in a nice area.
That’s a really good price for Pasadena, it’s beautiful there. Me and my gf pay 2800 for a one bedroom in downtown LA . Huge difference.
So the taxpayer paid most of her college expenses and the she took out a $60,000 loan?
Yea, don’t do what this chick did.
She did the biggest mistake buying a brand new BMW, like no. Next best thing would be to sell it asap! Can I afford a luxury car? yes. Is it worth it right now? no. High maintenance cost and great depreciation
@@InvestedMillennial yea but you still got 30K to pay off when you could use that 30K towards a down payment for a house...but if it truly makes you happy then its worth it cuz I'm the same with Range Rovers. Doesnt make much financial sense but I'll still get it
This makes zero sense unless you guys are renting a bedroom. I lived in la for 43 years and just moved out of there last year. This doesn’t sound possible at all.
Seems like her bf is encouraging her to spend money that she should be saving.

The fact that 3-4 taxpayers had to fund her education just for her to buy a BMW and regain all the debt that she would have had in college.
"I graduated debt free and that helped me kick off my career." But proceeds to buy a car that cost more than my debt and payments. I graduated with $34K in student loans with less debt. My car was $3,000 and paid off.

How is she living on 80k when she splits the cost of living with her boyfriend so you have to factor what the boyfriends income is also because she’s not living on her own
True
Because that is how much she makes. Splitting expensive can be considered a factor that helps you save, but it doesn’t mean that you are not living off of the income that you earn every year. You’re just spending less of it. It saves more to shack up

They depreciate so much that you literally have to get one after the first sucker takes the hit of paying full retail price

My friends have accords and civics and are paying 500+ a month lol
@@eLus1ve2991 The depreciation on the F10 generation was ridiculously high.
The 3/4 series that came out at the same time didn't depreciate that much.(the car she has)
The Outsider long story short
Buy a 5/7 series second hand
3/4 series hold value a little better since its more common.
Hmm good budgeting, seems smart. Maybe change the car something cheaper.
Sounds like she works for a pretty solid company. Not taking advantage of the 401k and the probable match she would get from them is like lighting money on fire.
That Food budget is impossible in LA, even with "parents bring us food" and doubled with partner
Wow, I am so glad you realize what a wacky move buying that car was! Live and learn, right? I have seen people sell the car and buy a safe and reliable car for like 5-10K. $700 a month has me totally shook! You did everything right leading up to that purchase. Awesome choice of car. I suppose you could have gone used, but the 435i drives so much better then the majority of cars on the road. Some think it's all about the luxury, but they have no idea the driving experience they're missing.
I just picked up a 2014 INFINITI Q60S and it is an endless joy to drive.
150 dollars a month for food? Right.
Saving only $1,000 from a $80k salary is not very good..Especially the fact that she has no college debt and the rent is only $898. Unless that's not including the money she puts in her Roth IRA.The car payment's pretty high but no need to remind her, she knows. Gotta live when you're young. She works hard and is ambitious, props to that. This is a good Graham material.
EDIT: I know for a fact that 80K gross salary gives you more than $3,468 net monthly income so I assume that there's some kind of payment deducted from the paycheck?
Eric Lee in the video she states a joint account w boyfriend, $500 from each paycheck
Yep scholarships are well worth pursuing. I graduated from a quite well-reputed university and after doing the sums, realised that I actually had a net profit from attending, after counting all the scholarships, national financial support, etc.

Two things:
1) Living with your partner is not a true representation of living in LA. Anyone can have a roommate. Let’s talk about how difficult it is to live alone or buy property in LA on a single income.
