I'm the same mindset. YJ's are my favorite of all even over the cj's i have owned. I drive a 1995 yj Rio Grande daily. I have been fortunate no bondo, no rust no dents or dings. clear coat is peeling on the hood, so it gets new paint in may. But i will rebuild the motor and trans and keep it till i die. But i am on the other end of the spectrum. I find nothing good about the sound a 2.5 or a 4.0 makes. so i have gone to extremes to make mine as silent as possible. They simply sound like sewing machines about to blow up with loud exhaust, but to each his own. so far i just do not have the issues a lot of people seem to have with there 2.5's mine maintains 65-70 on the interstate even in 5th gear. i live in the foot hills so 5th does struggle from time to time, but for the most part it does great. I may have to drop into 4th to maintain 60 on some inclines, but other than that no issues. good looking jeep, hope you reach your new yj goals.
Mine is a white hardtop 92' 4cyl. My younger brother owned it before me. Nothing that I can say here could ever describe how reliable it has been in our family..
I dropped a chevy 350 in my YJ...and 8 lug axles with 37's, high steer, a 4 speed/twin stick transfer case, LED lights, overhead console, made a custom bumper with a 12K Winch, Griffin radiator w/ twin electric fans. If you are going to put $$$ into your old YJ you might as well add just a little more......
I like your philosophy. I own a 1995 YJ and I used to own a 2015 JK. Truth be told....I much prefer the YJ over the JK. Its not that the JK was bad or anything....there's just something about old iron that I love. My plans are to turn my YJ into my backroads explorer. Instead of sinking 40-50 grand into a brand new Jeep I'll spend a quarter of that over time on my YJ and have fun doing it.
He was right on point to all the sounds ... Those sounds of the old generation that's no longer here the new jeeps are not like that !! The best sound is the old style blinker
Good video. Makes me wanna keep my 99 TJ 2.5 with 9200 original miles. I was thinking about getting rid of it because it doesn’t have the 4.0 but I think I’ll keep it.
Great video! As a 4cl yj owner myself, as a DAILY DRIVER, I too would like to just maintain highway speeds haha. Can go 65 flat, but the moment a hill shows up, you are going 45. On the highway.
Mine really goes 80+ I just don't like to push it that hard. Easily cruise 70-75. I can hold 45 up any mountain passes I've hit on interstate 5. I mean it's slow but it's adequate.
Let me tell you I’ve owned two YJ’s a 1990 that was totaled in a wreck ( which by the way if I had been in any other small 4x4 that day I more than likely would not be writing this comment rite now) and after that I bought a 1992 ( First year of the full roll cage) , there isn’t a Jeep being built today, with the exception of the gladiator that I would consider buying, all fluff and plastic, they are not what the old school Jeep’s felt like at all , to much centered around a plush ride🙄 and expensive extras .
I've always liked my 92 2.5 YJ (owned since 96) just the way it is. Which except for the sound system and gas tank mod, is factory stock. I got it with 39k, and only have 79k on it now, it has always being the 2nd vehicle and me only being 8 miles from work. Don't get me wrong, because Dodge did spend millions of man hours designing in self destructing time bombs and labor rate multipliers. So you will need a gallon of Corroseal (rust converter), a drill bit (for much needed drain holes), and a lot of patience and mechanical ability to keep the thing from falling down around you. But the simple concept of a Jeep in its highest evolved form, which is the 92 2.5L YJ (maybe 93, 94. Did they come with anti lock brakes?), is the most perfect all around vehicle man has ever produced. Back when I had a bike, I would call it my 4 wheeled motorcycle.
The best part was when that 2.5 was in the passing lane but was not passing anything. I subscribed but then realized this was a year and a half old. Any updates?
Im just one guy I have three cars (that are always broken) and a full time job. Im currently working on a Prt 2 I promise. I started an Instagram #thejeepist theres some stuff on there.
Recommend getting some gearing done. I have a tj with idk what gearing i Think 4.10s and it drives really well with 31s like i can cruise on the hwy going whatever speed i want. Takes some time to get up there but it does. One time i talked so a fellow jeeper same everything as my jeep and told me he had to drop down to 3rd going up part of the road going into town and i told him i stayed in 5th gear lol
Great video and a really nice YJ. I am in the middle of the same process with my TJ. I'll be documenting mine on my channel while I follow your channel for updates. Subbed! Scott
"I just want to maintain speed on the highway" you will be doing much more than replacing the fan if that is your goal. You could always supercharge it like I did... lol
Nice video. Are your tires 31 or 33? I'm looking to purchase bigger tires for my YJ and I'm not sure how big I can go with a mild lift. Currently I'm running 245/75/15 at stock height
hi, excuse my ignorance, but u mentioned removing your manual fan in favor for an electric one. in doing so, does that add more horsepower? i also have a 2.5l, 1989 5 speed
Hello m8. Can you tell me what was changed in Your Wrangler with the exhaust? What kind of parts you use for this brilliant sound!? xD BTW. Really nice movie! You show the best parts of Jeep Wrangler YJ.
Pacesetter Header and down pipe. no CAT and a Thrush Welded muffler. its all flanged so i can bolt and unbolt it with out wrecking anything. Im gonna make another video on it but im working on my cherokee ATM and im a one man show so it takes forever
Need food, want a house, and have to have big tires on your jeep. I love it😂😂
One of my favorite jeep videos to date. And not only because I'm bias towards YJs lol

Me & my 94' YJ 2.5L approve! - Found a rust free in Montana - no salt used on the roads

Looking at putting a 4.7 with auto aspen could I use the auto with my dana 30/35 currently rocking the original 2.5
I know exactly how you feel dude, I have a 92 YJ wangler and mine is a 4 cylinder as well. I want to do some major up grades to mine as well.
Gotta love the Jeep lifestyle! I have a 1997 TJ 2.5 4 cyl automatic, it’s slow and old but i still enjoy it.

Love your Jeep videos. Reminds me of working in your old mans garage when I was 16 on my '76 CJ5. Lots of memories. Keep the awesome videos coming.
He was right on point to all the sounds ... Those sounds of the old generation that's no longer here the new jeeps are not like that !! The best sound is the old style blinker

editing is next to none well done, you captured it with those sounds, so true, luv the yj
thanks

Good old yj sounds I love em can’t wait to have mine on the road
My only question is: Why the f*** doesn't this have like 1M views??
bushpilot223 because the general public doesn't care about old wranglers.

Cool video man. Essentially "creating a brand new YJ", I share the same mindset. Enjoy the project and pride of ownership. Cheers.
Hell yea nice jeep I love mine also it's a 93 wrangler yj
Great video brother! keep making them. I have a 92 like yours same color.
Cool vid, man. I have an 01 TJ 2.5 that I bought in pieces. I won't win any races, but it's a LOT of fun and still very capable. Rock on, brother.
No Dislikes! Great video. Awesome Jeep.
Looking forward to updates on this

they never came with anitlock brakes as far as I know. Mine lives inside most of the time so it stays in "acceptable" condition most of the time
The best part was when that 2.5 was in the passing lane but was not passing anything.

Im just one guy I have three cars (that are always broken) and a full time job. Im currently working on a Prt 2 I promise. I started an Instagram #thejeepist theres some stuff on there.
Please post or send me your build list if possible. Ty, Great jeep!

Well I drove It throught the rockies once .....I was in third gear alot.
I got a yj to daily to high school but it’s going to need some work
2:40-3:03. That spoke to me. That is me!!! Just scored a 94 YJ, for 3K. My short list of to do’s .... 4K 😂 Not even counting the wheels and tires!!
Nice! Thanks and good luck!
Great video and a really nice YJ. I am in the middle of the same process with my TJ. I'll be documenting mine on my channel while I follow your channel for updates. Subbed! Scott

need food, want a house, and have to have rustproofing on the undercarriage
....Until you can get an aluminum Tub and stanless Fasteners x)
Why do your vids not have more views? Great videos.
What's the update on the YJ?!?! Great video. thanks for sharing.
Any updates?
Nice video. Are your tires 31 or 33? I'm looking to purchase bigger tires for my YJ and I'm not sure how big I can go with a mild lift. Currently I'm running 245/75/15 at stock height
its 31's with a 2.5 inch lift
Go 35!
hi, excuse my ignorance, but u mentioned removing your manual fan in favor for an electric one. in doing so, does that add more horsepower? i also have a 2.5l, 1989 5 speed
In theory, less drag on the engine.
@@KIIVisualAssets thanks!!
m get more from re gearing
Looks like a perfect candidate for the 1.9l TDI swap.
Awesome ...
awesome video def needs more views

any change with the YJ?
No. Im working on my cherokee right now so I daily the YJ.
Start with brake lines and bump stops
That thing swerved everywhere.
Actually it's close to 120 hp when it was new
Jeep ASMR
Weird flex....But OK!
The audio is really low plus music is drowning you out
Less talk more rock! haha
What size tires?
31x10.5x15
31 x 10.5 could probably fit 35s though
Love the real truth!
never related more brother.
thanks
I like it, but not gonna lie it was pretty cheesy.
Damn it!
