    Nice to see an old building get new life put into it. I hope you recycled as much wood as you could. Just some power washing, a run through the planer and you have new wood. Especially with lumber prices so high!

    • @LogHouseFarm
      @LogHouseFarm  2 роки тому +1

      I saved almost every bit of wood from the barn, some was just too damaged, but I have all the rest and I have used it in a few projects already.

    Amazing shop tour. Thank you for sharing it. The building itself is fantastic. 8x8 sized frame pieces are always so impressive. You’re voice and narration are great too. Seems open or practiced without having the timid or inexperienced nervousness.
    I’m a big fan of the 6x3 workbench or anything smaller than full size 4x8 anyway. If I really need a 4x8 I just move a rolling cart over but I can still put a 4x8 sheet and cut it with the track saw. It’s a sort of Goldilocks size situation.

    Keith from Rag'N'Bone Brown sent me over... Fun blitzing through the shop build videos. Are you in BC? The barn sure does look nicer now. Are you still planning to knock out the support posts and put in some beams? I would think that would be huge challenge. I am kind of puzzled that you did not insulate/renovate the pantry area? I would think that would be desired.

    • @LogHouseFarm
      @LogHouseFarm  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for checking out the channel, what a great thing Keith did for me!
      I am in BC - I do plan to deal with those posts eventually, Ideally, I would like them all gone but that is a really big job.
      To save money at the time, the pantry was not insulated, but it may get done fairly soon - My wife has her kiln in there now and it would be nice to have that enclosed and insulated.

    I'm curious, you used a mini excavator and I've been thinking of digging out my barn dirt floor and was thinking about a bobcat.
    To me the bobcat would scoop more dirt and do so evenly. Did you consider a bobcat and what are your thoughts on what you settled on and what you might do next time. Thanks and congrats on your project!

    • @LogHouseFarm
      @LogHouseFarm  2 роки тому +2

      I don't think I had enough space for a Bobcat, the excavator was smaller and more maneuverable in the tight spaces. I think the Bobcat might do a better job of it if you have the space.

      @@LogHouseFarm Thanks so much for your reply & feedback.
      I do realize I need to take out the half walls between stalls to really make that work but I am also clear that will allow the pouring of the floor to be best leveled.
