On all accounts, the metanium mgl is the longest casting reel in this test assuming the casitas follows similar variance trends. The metanium placed both the longest and shortest cast.
While it could be the wind or inconsistencies in technique, the numbers show that the chronarch is more than twice as consistent with its casts as compared to the metanium. It would have been interesting to gauge where the casitas would have fit into the picture while giving us more reference points for this test.
Own 8 Daiwa's and 1 Chronarch MGL now!!! Been wanting to try a Shimano for a while, finally did after some good reviews and I am very happy. It isn't as easy to use as my Zillion SV TW for lighter lures, but it can match it for normal sized and is just a great feeling reel. I am loving my Chronarch MGL, I bought the HG though.

Great video ! Glad to see the MGL's battle. I know that with Quantum and KVD say that larger spool capacity equals more distance. I think the CuradoK holds the most out of all them along with the refined breaking system?
Yeah the K spool weight was lot more but all of them have a 34mm spool. Maybe the heavier spool keeps its speed up longer? If the K beats out these 3 for the lighter lures that will be a big surprise.
It has to do with how the spool diameter shrinks as line it let off the reel on a cast. A wide and deep spool will maintain a larger spool diameter throughout the cast; so more spool circumference per revolution of the spool = more line let off the spool per revolution and a farther cast, has nothing to do with weight.

The JDM metanium MGL is 297 on a site that you recommend. Is the reel worth the price?
100% worth it. Just remember the JDM model has the shallow 70 capacity spool. For average bass fishing its plenty
THE REEL TEST I was wondering what the diff was. I’m not a tourney angler but I use high end equipment and a shallow spook will be fine. So that japanlureshop is a legit site? It’s selling for 80 cheaper than all other of your recommended sites.

I don't set mine up like he does I only have one brake one and spool tension knob loose, just enough to make spool move side to side, and I thumb my spool they are all most free spooled! I think they are better than the Antares! I actually sold the ones I had and got all MGL's!

smoovefishing I think he is using too light of test line. Most people use 15lb-20lb Fluoro
