It truly is a terrible thing to lie about. In my sophomore year of college, I used to be friends with my roommate’s ex girlfriend. She told me within the first two weeks of knowing her that she had a miscarriage with her previous boyfriend due to his abuse. However, I found out later from one of my friends that she said she was kidding about it. She lied just so she could gain sympathy. This is not something okay to lie about to have people on your side. It’s the kinds of stuff that makes people lose your trust.

This breaks my heart. I was a birth adoption and my parents tell me all the time they only told my grandparents and no one else about me until AFTER the adoption was finalized in fear of their dreams being ripped away again. It was meant to be though because me and my dad share the same birthday.
This happened to my family back in the mid-90's (I was young, don't remember the exact year). My parents spent thousands of dollars on 'medical bills' for months, only to find out days before the supposed due date, there was never a child, and the 'birth mother' was a well known pathological liar among her family members.
