Ironically, I never got mad at Dark Souls during my first run. Later on, sure. When I felt like I should be good enough to get through the game, any failure was annoying and frustrating. But when I first played it, my whole mindset was that I wasn't good enough to beat the game. Yet. So any mistake was just that. A mistake that I'd expected. But the more I played, the more confidence I had in not making mistakes that'd kill me, so then they started to feel unnecessary and I got mad because I couldn't make it work as easily as I'd hoped.
That's really interesting! Come to think of it my experience is similar in FPS games. When I suck at the game and lose, it's all good. But when I know I'm good and make stupid mistakes, that's when it gets frustrating haha.

Dark souls is a series that I have played a decent amount of, but when playing through dark souls 3, I had one of my friends carry me through and I didn’t feel very rewarded. Eventually, I went to dark souls remastered, and I played it through all by myself and now it’s an experience I hold near and dear to me. Beating O&S and Artorias for the first time are experiences I won’t forget.
First time I beat O&S I felt like a fucking KING for the rest of the day. I really do love those games. I'm playing through DS1 with a friend right now who's never beaten it, it's a really great time
Damn this viddy is good, also as a dark souls gamer and streamer, I heavily agree with what you say. Currently doing a challenge run in dark souls 1 with base vitality and daggers only and it's brutal but beating that one boss after 10 grueling minutes was worth the 3 hours I spent dying to it.
