The full Country road and Autobahn Drive & Sound with the all-new 2014/2015 VW Golf 7 R powered by a strong 2.0 TSI (300hp, 380Nm) and the well know 6-speed DSG transmission. Overall I really liked driving this car as it feels very special even compared to some much more expensive cars that I have recently tested. The performance is astonishing, the sound is very good for a 4-cylinder engine (inside AND outside) and from a practical perspective, there is no reason this car wouldn't fit in anybody's household. Especially the wide range of usable power stands out compared to the A 45 AMG or even the BMW M135i. Although the BMW has more torque at even lower revs it just does not feel as strong from a subjective perspective, objectively M135i and A 45 AMG are of course a bit quicker! The inside sound generator is very present in "RACE" mode but I would consider this as a GOOD thing, cause it sounds amazing and powerful. Also, the suspension in my eyes is an almost perfect compromise between race track performance and lots of comfort for long Autobahn trips. I drove this car around 900 km on one weekend and was simply amazed by how comfortable (on 19-inch Pretoria) and fuel-efficient (minimum was 7.5 l/100 km!!!) you can get along with this R. Also man hört ja immer wieder Beschwerden, das VW so unwahrscheinlich teuer wäre. Aber wenn ich mir die aktuellen Modelle angucke, ganz besonders den Golf R, da schlackert man mit den ohren. Solch eine Geilheit auf 4 Rädern. Hab jetzt schon drinne gesessen und die Optik sowie die Haptik ist einfach Sehr gut. Alles sehr Hochwertig und edel. Gefällt mir wirklich sehr der Kamerad. Vielen Dank für das klasse Video. ;-)

Verkürzt und versüsst mir meine Wartezeit :) hoffe das er in 3-4 Wochen geliefert wird.
Kein Problem, ich bin ihn ja quasi auch nur gefahren um mir meine eigene Wartezeit auf die S3 Limousine zu verkürzen;-) Und war mir nach diesem Wochenende nicht mehr sicher ob ich die richtige Wahl getroffen habe. Was bekommt du für eine Ausstattung?

Der S3 Ist doch auch super?!
Im innern noch einmal eine ganze Ecke edler als der Golf :)
Und er hat die 4 Ringe im Grill :)
In jedem Fall war es die richtige Entscheidung die Pretorias zu nehmen, die sehen einfach Klasse aus und haben meines Erachtens ein geringeres Radgewicht als die anderen 19 Zöller. Die Farbe Lapiz Blau ist natürlich auch Klasse, hat eine enorme Leuchtkraft.
Klar ist der S3 super, aber auch von der Innenraumqualität her tun die sich nicht so viel wie man meinen möge. Gerade weil der S3 noch etwas mehr auf Komfort und weniger sportlich abgestimmt ist denke ich, dass ich für meine viele Autobahn Etappen die richtige Entscheidung getroffen habe. Achso, Ausstattung:

I have a candy white coloured 2011 Golf 1.4 tsi highline and after I watched this video I slaver for this "R" machine. It has an unpretentious appearance but it is strong as a bull indeed. damn! that's what i want! :)
It looks and sounds nice. I especially like the sound of the exhaust note! I wonder why they went with quad/dual exhaust? I would be afraid of not having enough back pressure on the small turbo 4 cylinder? Is this for appearances? I also like the effect of the black chrome on the steering wheel, but wish they'd stay away from flat bottom style.

My 2015 or 2016 Golf R is ordered last week. The reason I say 2016 is I had a choice of standard or auto. I'm assuming since it's not being delivered till later in the year, that they consider it late enough in the year to being the 2016 out?

I had a guy drive mine so I could hear/enjoy the engine noise. You hear the gearshift noise from inside too, But not as loud and clear as from the outside.:)
What winter tyres would you recommend for the R?
I'm thinking of making this my 30th birthday gift to myself. Still 2yrs 5mths till then. Thinking of getting a used 2015 model by then, they should be somewhere around 25k by that time.

I'm going to get one for my 19th birthday, the 2016 models with under 50k km are around 22k now👍
@@flemmy8656 Well I wasn't quite able to achieve this, got a bit older and priorities changed. I ended up getting a 2016 white GTI and at age 31. Love it still though, in the USA with 19k miles @ $19k

I have a limestone grey Golf R with a manual transmission. Very fun and practical at the same time to live with everyday. Why get a 2 seat sports car low to the ground when a car like a Golf R is available if you have no plans to drive on a race track?

Thanks:-) Answering as if the .:R is worth the money I would clearly answer with YES! That doesn't mean that the GTI is a bad car nor that everybody should choose the R, but I really enjoyed driving this car and it delivered a kind of perfection that I hadn't experienced in any other Golf 7 yet. First of all the R just looks even more settled, heavier and powerful than the GTI. Secondly that AWD system of the R gives it a totally different feel, traction-wise but also in regard to high speed cornering and stableness. The fact that the back even pushes out when you give it full power in wet conditions make this car feel more like in a league with the more powerful sports cars. The GTI might feel more lightweight and has plenty of power, but it just won't bring it down to the ground. Also in regard to fuel consumption there is not a huge difference between those cars, making the R the perfect Gran Turismo!

Warum bleibt die rechte LED-Rückleuchte in der Vorstellung am Anfang im Gegensatz zu den anderen Leuchten dunkel? Muss dem so sein?
Liegt an der Aufnahmefrequenz der Kamera, das menschliche Auge sieht das nicht.

Res delete or stock exhaust system?
Overall great video, but it cracks me up when reviewers put the camera right up against the tailpipe for audio (2:05). Like that is any indication of how it sounds in real life lol. You could do that to a lambo and it would still sound like crap. Aside from that, great video with plenty of variety to give you a feel for how it sounds IRL.

Gibt es ein Auto mit 300 PS, welches sich besser als der Golf 7 R anhört ?
Ich selbst fahre eine E Klasse mit ca 200 PS. Überlege mir ein 300 Ps starkes Auto zu kaufen, weiß aber nicht welches.

simon fuller Its not too bad on fuel. Well, depends how you use it and where as well. Around town its shit - 20mpg (UK) is normal. If you do 70mph constant then I get 34mpg, sometimes 35. It's about a 350 range full tank. I don't drive to work so it's OK for me, but would get a GTE if I was commuting but also wanted decent power. GTI is apparently just as bad on fuel as the R...
Milind Dixi Golf R wastes 23 mpg in town and it cant waste more then that, and it waste as least 32mpg, you can search on internet and on all reviews its like that from 23 mpg - 32 mpg not less not more, 23 mpg is 10 liters so its not a big waste

The Europcar station in Frankfurt (East) has a few of those. If you select that station you will also find it on the internet and get the price.

+David Lugassy Pretty similar actually...the S3 sound has more grunt on higher rpm...the Golf R has more bass in the low speeds and frequencies.

vw is 10 grand cheaper with the same tranny and engine.... as the Audi s3 but it's faster better room and also because it's got a cheaper brand name it's cheaper to fix if you don't mind the extra expense and slight loss to 0-60 and rather have a more comfort added get the s3 as it looks better on the interior to most peoples opinion and the a3 feels like it has more get up and go according to motor trend but like the specs say the vw golf is faster by . some seconds
