Point of order on the Haldex issue... It is very rarely due to "lack of maintenance". I tune these cars daily and most of the ones I come across with rear drive issues have been serviced meticulously. VW don't specify a service interval for cleaning the filter on the pump head and the pump head itself can clog up well before the Haldex service is due. It would be unfair to accuse someone of negligence if simply following the VW service schedule.
@@Leehuss5582 It's the company that makes variable slip based drivetrain components. For the most part, it's All Wheel Drive systems, but the later MQB cars had a "sports differential" on the front axle that was made by Haldex too.
Fantastic video! My only point is that thermostat housing issues are widespread on these cars and are very expensive to repair. When mine went on my Mk 7 GTI it cost about £950, although that was through a VW dealer though. Apart from the expensive repairs, these cars are fantastic! Keep up the great work.
Im so happy I got a good deal on a manual 2017 Golf R today. 57k miles on it but has some nice goodies on it with an ecs tune. All the goodies are nice parts like cts and ecs parts. Also got the 18 inch gti wheels instead of the r wheels which look a lot cleaner. Has coilovers as well and rides really nice.
I’m going to buy a MK7 with 55k on the mileage tomo. £18950 used approved Heritage of Weston VW, 2017 plate, 1 owner. I’m abit dubious regarding mileage. Mum thinks it’s abit high? It comes with two years warranty and break down cover that gives some reassurance. Just wondering did you experience any immediate issues at or around that mileage upon purchase? Also I’m a female going alone (to purchase) is there any questions you can recommend? I had an S3 unfortunately had to rid due to coolant issues and dodgy garages/mechanics hence me going used approved now. So I know a little about cars.

I pulled my '12 Audi S4 off of mothballs. It is also a 2+ APR car but with even more goodies and aftermarket stuffs on it, it's a show car really. Haven't driven it for about 5 or more years other than starting it and an occasional saturday fun drive. It'll be interesting to put it back in "circulation".

There is a small pioe that drains water from the rear door handle/VW badge that leaks water into the boot area. It costs £2 and takes an hour to fit. Common issue.

Take it this video is for young drivers.I do most my own work on my TTs and do a better job in my opinion.Last time VAG took my wheel of I got a clicking noise! Turns out they hadn’t tightened two of my wheel bolts 😱💀
If that car had actually had a wet floor in the back then it wouldn’t have been the rear speaker seal as that problem only applies to the 5dr. There is another common place for leaking and that is the little grills behind the rear bumper.
Sunroofs can leak as well on mk7s. Drainage pipes I think but a bit more work involved than putting a wire down the drainage holes as could do on my mk4 (r32) Great review! Every 6 year they release new model. The last year they release a face-lift like mk 7.5 now they have mk8 and the last year will be mk8.5 after that all golfs will be electric.....sadly.
I got a mk6 golf r and I cannot find the problem with my shaky steering wheel at 60 really frustrating to be honest thousands of dollars later still shaky wheel
I personally would say the Golf R, had one for a while and it was good! Have heard that the S3 are not a drivers car and are not as fun! Also the prices are currently highly inflated at the moment and are up at least 15% on their old value! now you would be lucky to get a sub 40k mile 17 plate for less than 23/24k
The manuals are shit and cost a fortune to fix or replace the clutches and anything involved with that car is over priced, the auto DSG is the way to go just get the transmission tune for it and it’ll be great along with a stage 2+ tune for the engine!

I’d take a DSG still over a manual especially since I can shift about 10x faster in a DSG than a manual, I wouldn’t trade a DSG for a manual trans any day as far as a VW goes because I’ve had several high performance manual VW’s and they are shit.

I plan on getting another Tesla or a Tacoma after this though!
Water ingress is horrendously common on these, owned two mk7s, 5 door R line diesel, and 5 door Gti, both ended up leaking from the speakers in the rear door cards, and from the vents in the boot. Howling behaviour from VAG group to use such cheap and weak seals

It's a 2015 Mk7 GTi s launch, stage 1 engine and dsg tune 317bhp, genuine 40k miles and comprehensive service history. I've recently noticed the 'place in park warning' IC coming up on the binicle when I open the door. I can remove the key with no issues. Is this a selector micro switch issue?
Did America never get a 2 door Mk7 R? I know in the Mk6 you can get a 2 door or 4 door but I’ve never seen a 2 door Mk7 R in America I’ve only seen the 4 door

Vroom has them and other car stealerships have them you just have to search around their out there, people buy them up a lot, don’t buy a manual trans one if you are going to buy one, the DSG is more sought after! WRX STI is a good car and holds its value very well too might look into that and is AWD and has more power than a golf R!

DSG is faster and more useable for daily traffic, but the manual is more fun to drive and cheaper to maintain/service. I'd personally go for the manual
DSG is better in my opinion for long drives get better mpg. stuck in traffic you dont have to fiddle and keep changing from 1st-2nd every 5mins. With DSG its more expensive to service and maintain compared with the manual but for me the DSG was worth it

The Pretoria rim on the Golf R are super light , just a little over 21 lbs, try to compare that to any 19 inch rim. And lighter rims means faster acceleration, top speed, and better fuel mileage. But with the pros comes with the cons because they're designed so light and the Golf R is quite a heavy car for it's class so the cracking or buckling is more likely to be caused by driver error like encountering curbs or potholes.

Tip for HALDEX: If you do the haldex service and you are still not getting full traction. Try purging the air out of the pump through VCDS.

Is the paint that orange peely from the factory or has this car had a poor paint job?
Where does leak come from? Front or rear doors? As you mentioned the speaker housing gives way
The leak comes from the rear speakers. Only applies to 5 door models too! Good luck

I like the facelift Scirocco R because I had the normal 1.4 TSI but I think it doesn't have the same EA888 engine as the Golf R.
Get the golf. The Rocco doesn't drive half as nice.

No car is reliable. My 396hp Golf 7 R has been super reliable, but I maintain my own cars to a high standard.
