  • Just 3% of Americans are Jewish, yet over 25% of the Forbes 400 are Jewish. Why is that?
Why do Jews have a tendency to prosper beyond the population in every setting they've ever been in throughout history?
Our guest, Rabbi Daniel Lapin, lists 10 reasons in his book Thou Shall Prosper, while he debunks four erroneous possibilities. He was kind enough to share two of the reasons with us in-studio.
We also discussed his close friendship with the very popular radio host and personal finance specialist Dave Ramsey and the secret to Dave's methods and success. We chatted about money, happiness, and so much more. Enjoy!

It’s very difficult to interview someone successfully. Far harder than one might imagine. In addition to several other special skills, you must know what to say, when to say it, and, perhaps hardest and most rare, when to remain silent. Eli Langer is top-tier; a consummate professional. He extracted the best from me while running a fast-moving interview. While talking, I knew I was in the hands of an expert. Thank you for having me on your valuable show. ~ Rabbi Daniel Lapin

Rabbi Lapin, I so enjoyed this interview. I could literally listen to you for hours, as the host said as well. I am still confused about the question you don't want to be asked. Why is the yeshivah community worse with money if they study G_d's Torah all day. Shouldn't they be more prosperous than secular Jews?

Dear @@isabellaleviyev3005 , Thank you for listening to the Living Lchaim show and for writing to us. I was being frivolous about that question because it is such an obvious question to ask. What is more, our host, Eli, was correctly intending to ask that question but we ran out of time. I know we'll dive into it next time I am on. The answer can produce some anguish but it also yields what I call "Aha! moments". Insights that are self evidently true. For now, I'll just leave you with a question which, like most questions, leads to the answer. If a tzadik who studies God's (there is no halachic reason for a hyphen) Torah all day, jumps off the roof of a 20 floor-building, will HaShem rescue him?

OK, let's be objective for a moment. Look at the economic conditions of Ethiopian Jews by comparison. Though Ethiopia had cultural contacts with the Holy Land which predated the arrival of the Gospel, though some of its languages are of the Semitic family, these people have remained among the poorest in a very poor country. And when they emigrate to Israel, they are known to face prejudice and discrimination. Is it their fault that they are not business magnates like some (NOT all) Ashkenazic Jews? Did they 'screw up'? Were they not 'religious' enough? Were they 'too religious'?
We're fools if we dare judge them.
Does God say that a person is inferior for havin g les/ Read Jesus' parable about the beggar Lazarus and the rich man. You will see their positions totally REVERSED in the afterlife.
Remember that the Lord Jesus was made manifest as a Jew, and that His teachings were addressed to Jews FIRST.
Much has to do with the neighborhood in which one resides. Many Jews who arrived in NYC in the late 1800s were poor, but as the city GREW phenomenally, they were in a position to take advantage of the growth. They helped drive the tide, yet they were supported by the tide.

The wisdom and knowledge that all the guests of this channel posses is astonishing. I have learned a lot from the few episodes I have watched. I have been totally mind blown by how totally different Jewish people's understanding and the relationship they have with money is totally different to that of other religions or ethnicities. If there is one thing that everyone should learn from Jewish people is how they embrace wealth and making money, instead of demonizing it.

I think about mid-way through the interview, I realized that the willingness to be generous, and the cultural belief Rabbi Daniel was trying to convey about giving but not being worse off, having given, was a very eloquent way of saying that Jewish people, who are successful, are more willing to provide real value to others, without seeing themselves as worse off for it. Money on a societal level, is a measure of how much value you brought to a market. Give people real value, openly, and freely as you can provide, and you will be wildly successful.

The jews today many want to be on top and are money lovers and too many have issues associating with people of colour.
Many of the successful jews are into Kabbalah.
They don't believe in Jesus Christbeing the messiah, they don't believe in his suffering, and they denied him.
