It's easy to find Puerto Ricans but not by complexion by flags because they rep it HARD!!! Seriously flags on their cars,t shirts, baby strollers, lunch boxes, posters, you name it!! And good for them haha! They're very proud I can respect that! :)

+summer2011leggo I'm from PR and among my friends from the island we say "When someone has a shirt (or whatever) with the PRican flag on it, you know they are from the US. I guess that is the way PRicans/Newyoricans in the US try to claim and maintain their identity but you won't see most PRicans in the island doing that. Thanks for the respect though. :)

I'm so glad you guys enjoyed the food. I've tried many different Asian foods after watching your videos and I'm so happy you finally got to try the food from my island. Also, thanks to the girls for discussing the diversity among Puerto Ricans. In one same family you can have an black person with afro textured hair and a blonde blue-eyed person. We are a mix of many different races although we are usually only taught about our African, Spaniard & Indigenous ancestry. Same goes for all other Latinos. The stereotype that US Americans have about what a Latino looks like is incorrect since we don't look a specific way.

Puerto Rican food is some of the best food. But I am Puerto Rican so I guess I am a bit biased. Still, Puerto Ricans are a little like Italians in that if you go to a Puerto Rican house hungry, we'll feed you until you burst all over the wall. Puerto Ricans are very energetic, but very nice people, and we just love to feed people.

Today, this has become my *favorite Fung Bros food video*. AAhh- and I thought the day would never come, that they'd do a take on Puerto Rican/ Dominican NYC food! Way to go, Fung Bros, you have gained my complete admiration :)! So proud of my Caribbean pirate blood!
Btw, it's common for Puerto Ricans to look Asian because as everybody knows- the Spanish Caribbean islands are descendants of Taino Indians, and Indians are related to their cousins from far Asia, from way back in the beginning of time, when they crossed the Bering Strait.

+Louie Yes since Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean and since most of the food is based off Africans who came as slaves and were dropped off in various islands and this is why Puerto rican, Jamaican, Dominican and Cuban food is very similar to each other.

I just saw your video on Puerto Rican food. You were talking about the word "boricua"
You asked about the meaning. It comes from the word Borinquen which was the Taino Indian's name for the island.
Newyoricans are people of Puerto Rican descent raised in New York and it's a totally different culture than that of the island. Puerto Ricans are American citizens so it's really not a nationality, but since we are a colony, I guess we call it a nationality.
The food was spot on yum!

Boricua comes from the word Boriken which is the name the Tainos (our native ancestors) gave the island. Boriken is said to mean "the great land of the valiant and noble Lord" and is a word from the language of the Tainos. People from Boriken are Boricua. Also, Boriken translated to Spanish is Borinquen and many use this word this day when speaking about the island with endearment. ❤
