It's easy to find Puerto Ricans but not by complexion by flags because they rep it HARD!!! Seriously flags on their cars,t shirts, baby strollers, lunch boxes, posters, you name it!! And good for them haha! They're very proud I can respect that! :)
Hahaha true. I just finished leaving a comment with plenty of these 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
+summer2011leggo I'm from PR and among my friends from the island we say "When someone has a shirt (or whatever) with the PRican flag on it, you know they are from the US. I guess that is the way PRicans/Newyoricans in the US try to claim and maintain their identity but you won't see most PRicans in the island doing that. Thanks for the respect though. :)
Lml where's the lie though?
I agree with you, lol
New Yorkers would be a better term. What's so bad with us american puerto ricans having some cultural pride? We're the same people, just in different places.
Yes finally Puerto Rican food!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ proud to be Puerto Rican!!!🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
I am puerto rican, and we have the best food in the world!
Andrea C. It's very good, but definatly not the best :)
Andrea C. yasss
Andrea C. I feel like to everyone, their country/state/town's food is the best, at least in their opinion. It's really all opinion. I am Puerto Rican and I will admit our food is pretty bomb.
I'd think foods from the East would give it a run for its money.
Andrea C. so they say i mean real life chef's say that every opinion well taken tho.
This is a very refreshing video. Adding some latin spice to the asian mix.
Makes me wonder... Would Asian guys date Hispanic/Latina's? Fung Bros?
+Burden Bright yeah i don't about other Asians but I love Hispanic girls dated a lot of them
+Burden Bright hell yeah
+jenver ouano Bart and Casey from Just kidding Films date Latina girl's so maybe there's hope?
love the change in theme! keep it up guys!
I'm so glad you guys enjoyed the food. I've tried many different Asian foods after watching your videos and I'm so happy you finally got to try the food from my island. Also, thanks to the girls for discussing the diversity among Puerto Ricans. In one same family you can have an black person with afro textured hair and a blonde blue-eyed person. We are a mix of many different races although we are usually only taught about our African, Spaniard & Indigenous ancestry. Same goes for all other Latinos. The stereotype that US Americans have about what a Latino looks like is incorrect since we don't look a specific way.
+DLis7 thanks for showing real knowledge about the puerto rican people
+DLis7 Well said. There's no one look when it comes to ANY Caribbean Latino. I've been married to the same Boricua for 25 yrs and her family runs the gamut.
Me being Puerto Rican. Puerto Ricans are the proudest Hispanics on the planet lol 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
jonathan munoz true man you guys and Dominicans
jonathan munoz I like the fact that a light-skinned Puerto Rican girl said that half the time people don't know what she is people send me that she's half asian or Filipino the same thing with Gina Rodriguez I even have a Puerto Rican friend that people always mistake him for being Cambodian
@@sinatra9179 Dominicans?????? Hum?????
Me being Puerto Rican, I really like that these guys made this video. I thought I was going to be very disappointed, I guess not.
King mLeopold II yo si estoy desepcionada ellas no son puertorriqueñas no sabian bien lo que es todo expecificamente y boricua significa que somos puertorriqueños o que somos boricuas no se refiere a las mujeres nada mas 😡
I'm Puerto Rican and I was exited when they made this video
I am puertorrican and I'm really happy that korean guys really like our food. We have influence of Chinese, African, and Spanish people and also "tainos" that's why our food is similar to Asian food and other parts of the Caribe.
If I'm not mistaken, they are of Chinese descent.
Oh ok I didn't knew that. But thanks for telling me 😆😄
akira lala what? I live in Puerto Rico and I'm full blown PUERTO RICAN! Where are you getting your facts our food doesn't come or it is influence from chinese people! It's typical Caribbean food...
Jokiz o67 gracias!!! thanks!!!!
Tainos, it is the indigenous people there, know your history.
this was a great video, glad you liked the food...BORICUA💞🌹
there's absolutely nothing like a good home made sancocho, i like it both dominican and puerto rican style. both amazing.
Appreciate y'all addressing how diverse Puerto Ricans are in appearance. The Fung Bros should visit and drink piña coladas straight from the motherland :) .
"Boricua" comes from the word "Borinquén" that was the island name before "Puerto Rico"
Alondra Rios I'm so glad someone said that! It doesn't just mean Puerto Rican. It's a call to the native side as well!
Fabian Gonzales African roots are strong in Pr
I was kinda hoping that they would go more into that. I think about two thirds of Puerto Ricans have Taino DNA. It's a disservice to the people who lived/are living there.
Can't wait for you guys to try Jamaican food.
yes!
Exactly! No disrespect to PR but our (Jamaican) Oxtail & rice and peas is the best. Pan and Jerk chicken. I can't wait.
+Camille Clarke I love Jamaican Ox tail with yellow rice, cabbage and sweet fried bananas!
YASS !
My mouth is watering man
yeh i'd suck the milk out of victoria's
+Eddie Wu LOL
Finally! As a Puerto Rican chick, I have been waiting for this episode! Glad you guys enjoyed some good Puerto Rican food!
When I lived in the east coast, I had lots of Spanish friends. Their food is really good. I found a lot more similarities with Spanish or African dishes with Asian dish. I think it's because they are so well seasoned like Asian dishes!!!!
+Cece Hong We also use alot of the same ingredients and spices.
Andrew was so thirsty for the girl in red
***** she is 100%
+DatGuyKhaos Theres nothing wrong with being thirsty for a girl.
4doorspankyou714 I know. I appreciate women
+DatGuyKhaos I hope you do. As Do I . That's why i think it's bullshit when people say we're just friends. Men and Women belong together intimately . Attraction.
I was laughing so hard at all the one-sided flirting going on. Had to re-watch the vid, because I wasn't paying attention to the food. Andrew's game is corny, but it's there ;) .
as a puerto rican in Cali, i haven't been able to experience any of my culture. this was awesome, because i can keep my eye out for these dishes
I was so happy to see this video. I'm puerto rican born and raised in the island and I love your videos. I'm glad you liked our food. You should visit the island one day it would make for a hell of a video! ;)
This is really similar to a lot of African food. The stews, rice, plaintain, malt drink
Heavy African influence in Caribe food ^.^
+simply.s The Fung Bros should try some African foods!
Ghanaian, Nigerian, Kenyan, and Ethiopian food to start!
Samuel Appiah Yass.
+simply.s
i wanna try african food, but this african restaurant i went to, they made EVERYTHING with peanuts. like some suya stuff
i'm allergic to peanuts.
is there african food without peanuts?
Xenophile C Jollof rice from West Africa does not contain peanuts, nor does Bancu and JOJO (From Ghana, West Africa) contain peanuts!
Hope that helps, and bon apetite!
What about pasteles?! That's the best pr dish 😯
WORD, I love pasteles. I was waiting for them to have it but nope
Somethin Else no the best or dish is pr panochita
Y Empanadas tambien.
True!!
Man don't talk about pasteles your making me hungry, Nuyorican from the Bronx.
I just love seeing my country represented. Especially when it comes to food. Perdona el lucimiento es que soy puertorriqueñoooooool!!!
As a puertorican girl that is living right now in Florida, I gotta say, this video made me homesick. I miss the island so much. Thank you for making this video. Brought a smile on my face. You guys are awesome.
Puerto Rican food is some of the best food. But I am Puerto Rican so I guess I am a bit biased. Still, Puerto Ricans are a little like Italians in that if you go to a Puerto Rican house hungry, we'll feed you until you burst all over the wall. Puerto Ricans are very energetic, but very nice people, and we just love to feed people.
Eduardo Mantilla man im from Texas ( Tejano )and Puerto Rican food is the bomb. I LOVE IT
Prefer South American and Mexican lol. Sorry
You’re right South American food is awesome! Puerto Rican and Dominican food is amazing tho so flavorful and unique🤗
If I am wrong please correct me... @FUNGBROS. BORICUA comes from Boriken the taino (indigenous) name of our motherland before it was colonized by Spain. It hurts when our people don't know our story and represent. My humble opinion...
wheres Richie? video aint complete without him.
+kidsamuel
Dumb question. How did you know?
+kidsamuel how did you know
He's hella boring anyway
He's still mad about Andrew cutting him off on the KL vid hahaha.
Viet swag boy haha.
When you're Dominican and you eat all that food on a daily basis too lmao 🇩🇴
I'm glad you guys are venturing into other cultures now its good to see you featuring other races food it will only add to the growth of your channel keep up the good work guys!!! I'm eating Pho while watching this lol
I could not stop smiling. It is very nice to see people enjoying something associated with Puerto Rico. My abuela would approve of this.
They did not try the coquito, the Puerto Rican alcapurrias, coconut tembleque and the pasteles. So delicious it is.
¡Viva Puerto Rico!🙌
因為英文不能完全表達所以用中文(硬要)

great vid! nice to see the diversity 👍🏽
I love how passionate you are in educating people who watch your videos to love and respect their cultural origin because I totally agree in acknowledging your roots. Big thumbs up Fung Bros!
Aah man now I need to try some of that food! Please do Jamaican food next!
Jamaican food yes! Barbecue Jerk on the drum
they should considering the chinese jamaican connection
+moneyman2200 It's so true! And the Chinese food in Jamaica is bangin too. I hope they do it soon!
+TheWavyJuan I haven't tried any "true" chinese jamaican food eventhough I live in the 6ix, but i could only picturr the sort of goodness that could come from fusing those flavors...... Peking "jerk" duck....bloooddcloootttt!!!!
+moneyman2200 Exactly! The Chinese Jamaicans are Hakka Chinese ethnically so they have their own style too. It's a mad fusion that just works!
Victoria had Andrew taking out the competition for this vid like: "Richie, uh... we're not gonna need you on this shoot... You know what? We're probably not even gonna shoot." BAHAHAHAHA
you guys are doing an excellent job on culture exposure and melting pots .keep it up fung brothers.props!!
Got super excited about this video! I'm a Puerto Rican and my husband half Chinese half Thai, living in Cali. I've always loved all Asian food in general and he loves PR food. What can I say is a good mix.
PR for life
I cannot lie to you when I say I had Puerto Rican food just yesterday, and I introduced Mexican food to my Puerto Rican friend, we both loved it! I don't have to many Puerto Rican friends so it was cool how chill we became through a school project.
I've been watching your videos for a while(some on repeat tbh) and now i see this video. THANK YOU, damn man you cats made me Mad Happy. I gotta do a "Fung Bros" Episode with you cats!
I like how you put that Beatnuts track in the background instead of reggaeton/daddy yankee lol
I can’t believe this was 5 years ago, oh how time passes, I was still in College back then. 😢
that arroz con gandules don't look too good it looked nasty it looked dry 😂😂😂😂
awesome, grew up around, and knew a lot of puerto rican, dominicans, alot of south americans in south florida. it’s a great culture, vibrant, my race is indian, ethnicity asian, but my nationality is jamaican, so i’m experienced in a lot of the different cultures as almost all the islands are similar, so it’s easy to get comfortable in the cultures. it’s cool you were able to show appreciation for all the cultures, and people, especially for new york, cause it’s literally “little everywhere!”
Finally, a dark skin boricua on here! :)
I grew up around Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Cubans for almost all my life in North Jersey. Mofongo is hands down the best dish they got
We South American West Indians from Guyana or Trinidad do the same thing with plantains!
Victoria is the perfect example of Boricua morena! And that Platano is bomb, my mom used to make it for me almost every morning!
Please try Ethiopian food
They don't have food lololol
They don't have food lololol
+TheCatOnWallStreet I was just joking
yes. that would be really cool.
+wipeoutime take my upvote
I have to say I'm so glad that you guys actually tasted Puerto Rican food and that you guys like it.
Wow. Those girls are gorgeous.
YEY! About time Fung Bros. made a video about Puerto Rican culture! Mi gente!
Wtf I just notice us Caribbeans eat the exact same thing 😂😂😐
Filipinos food & Puerto Rican food are pretty similar. Many dishes have the same name in both cultures. And most Filipinos call themselves morenos/morenas
Im puerto rican, like if your puerto rican. PURO BORICUA
Young Boost Puertorican is one word.
yes! puerto rican, dominican, and cuban food are classic staples of NY! I live in Ridgewood and it's a large hispanic neighorhood and I love getting dominican food cause the food is always flavorful and it's really affordable.
💪🏼 Puerto Rico🇵🇷 my beautiful island 😌
Bella cómo tu!!!🇵🇷😘
I was born in Puerto Rico until raise teen about 14 or 15 years old teen then my family moved we live here in America so long time. I miss so much love food also God bless Puerto Rico. Wepa!!! 🇵🇷❤️
PUERTO RICO!!!!!!!
Today, this has become my *favorite Fung Bros food video*. AAhh- and I thought the day would never come, that they'd do a take on Puerto Rican/ Dominican NYC food! Way to go, Fung Bros, you have gained my complete admiration :)! So proud of my Caribbean pirate blood!
Btw, it's common for Puerto Ricans to look Asian because as everybody knows- the Spanish Caribbean islands are descendants of Taino Indians, and Indians are related to their cousins from far Asia, from way back in the beginning of time, when they crossed the Bering Strait.
that girl is so pretty!
Plantains originated in Africa. Through the banana trade it crossed many countries including awesome Puerto Rico, Jamaica, etc. I'm Liberian and I gotta say. Africans, Caribbeans and Puerto Rican's, and all of the can's KNOW PLANTAINS 🔥
I'm Dominican but I gotta admit the way you say sancocho was funny af
I can relate with Andrew when it comes to speaking the language my people come from. I can barely speak spanish but for some reason i can understand it more than speaking it because i just put the pieces together... forming a sentence is a whole different story!
I am puerto rican but i've been influenced by asian culture, i love it
Try 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴food I still have love for boriquas.i call my sister boriqua Dominicana
🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
Lorraine Rosario It's BORICUA not boriqua
You guys gotta try Puerto Rican food on Christmas time, the food never end! Starting from Thanksgiving, haha.
(you already know some people are gonna stuff their Turkey with mofongo & all good things)
Puerto Rican pasteles you guys will love!
I can make a list of all the good stuff, things that the locals enjoy, list will never end!
There's so much diversity.
Nur wenn was kommt umso besser....
Im mexican and I worked with some Puerto Ricans on the JCC Veracruz Mexico 2014, and it was a really good experience.
No pasteles?
This video from the Fung Bros was interesting. They usually comment about anything Asian and forget everyone else. I'm quite impressed that they're keeping an open mind.
have you try Puerto Rican chocha? Mmm they're good!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You guys should do a Puerto Rican food Christmas special I guarantee it'll be one of the best ... I'm Puerto Rican by the way lol
When are you guys going to eat some good old soul food
4:09 she said she likes the food cuz the potatoes are tender hahahaj😂😂
SOOOO SIMMILAR TO JAMAICAN FOOD !
+Louie I heard that before....i guess is true.
+Louie Except that ours don't have spices... but all Caribbean food are basically the same.
+Louie Yes since Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean and since most of the food is based off Africans who came as slaves and were dropped off in various islands and this is why Puerto rican, Jamaican, Dominican and Cuban food is very similar to each other.
The similarities are because they are both in the Caribbean.
Please let's not forget about our Taino Common ancestors as well!
I'm Dominican and its cool to find out that we share the same dishes and cook it the same way 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇵🇷🇵🇷
🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm Boricua and I love their reaction😘🔥
like si eres de PR
Tim’s face when he had that flan...adorable.
OMG Victoria is so hot !!! She make Puerto Rican food so tasty LOL
Just a small correction, in PR we call the ripe fried plantain ''amarillo'' not ''maduro''.
too many pervert here... lol
I used to live in Lancaster, PA and there were a lot of puerto ricans there. my dad used to always take me to get puerto rican food and it is my favorite food to this day. roast pork over rice and beans was the best
Try Dominican food
Pernil with arroz y gandules. Morsilla, chicharrones, papa relleno, bacalao frito, malta, arroz con salchichas, and pasteles. Dayum! I miss my Rican food. Hard to find here in Southern California. Orgullosa de ser Boricua para lo que sepa!
Victoria can get this Asian D!!!! damn she can have my seeds
Puerto Rican fan of you guys here, I've lived in the island all my life. Best food is mofongo with carne frita but I have to say nuthing like tasting it here in PR. You guys have to make a trip over here and visit all the historical places, the beaches and eat the awesome food.
Again a big fan and love all your videos
so you went to a Puerto Rican restaurant but didn't get chicharones? smh
I looove my Puerto Rican culture and I'm so happy they enjoyed it too
But Dominicans own NY thoo lol try Dominican Food
You dudes are new jacks in NY, We the 1st Latinos to rep there. FOH! We moved on to other places for the most part.
I'm Puerto Rican living in the lower east side represent! Love this video!!!
Malta India is honestly the best brand of Malta I've ever had. And my family is South American and Caribbean
I just saw your video on Puerto Rican food. You were talking about the word "boricua"
You asked about the meaning. It comes from the word Borinquen which was the Taino Indian's name for the island.
Newyoricans are people of Puerto Rican descent raised in New York and it's a totally different culture than that of the island. Puerto Ricans are American citizens so it's really not a nationality, but since we are a colony, I guess we call it a nationality.
The food was spot on yum!
I lived and worked in PR for 10 years. In my opinion, the food is the best in the world. These guys should go to the island and try PR style Chinese food. They'll wet their pants. I visit as often as I can because I miss the food and really can't get it where I live in the states.
THEY DID IT!!! YESSS!!! They tried Puerto Rican food( close enough to Dominican)... but I'm happy, and I'm hungry T_T Since I moved out west I can not find a Puerto Rican or Dominican restaurant, everything is primarily Mexican... I miss tostones. I also really love Tim's reactions...
Boricua comes from the word Boriken which is the name the Tainos (our native ancestors) gave the island. Boriken is said to mean "the great land of the valiant and noble Lord" and is a word from the language of the Tainos. People from Boriken are Boricua. Also, Boriken translated to Spanish is Borinquen and many use this word this day when speaking about the island with endearment. ❤
