Being of Japanese descent living in DR, makes me feel good to see you guys doing this tour. Dominican culture is truly underrated.
🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴 im glad to hear a Japanese descent.
De lo miooo🇩🇴🇩🇴 where in DR?
@@Erwinc17 la capital bro!
Koichi Kasahara it’s not underrated in New York
@@flaneurfilms1940 deadass
As a Dominican 🇩🇴 I approve this message but you guys will have so much more fun at Dominican headquarters which is Washington Heights 😉
Washington heights and hamilton heights has the best dominican foods!
If it's not the Lower East Side, they're not going.
@@bkcalvine I wonder why? Are they scared of leaving LES? Dominicans are the nicest friendliest people in the world what are they afraid of?
@@Gamerroesygang dunno LES seems to be their theme since they've come back to NYC.
@@Gamerroesygang They're not afraid of anyone. It's just convenient to stay in the LES for them. It's the story of many would-be Manhattanites: stay in your comfort zone. To add to the fact they're transplants means the likelihood of not going out of their way to explore additional neighborhoods. It's super common.
bro how you do dominican food in nyc but not get chimi sandwich? chicharron? bacalao?
next time your in the bronx let me know ill show you de' way
Tell Me! Wats The Way?? Best Mangú, Morir Soñando, chimi??, bakery, pastelitos??? I’ll Head Down ASAP😩😩😩
@@bebita113 depends where in NYC you are. So many great dominican restaurants maybe I should make a video 🤔
Yes Please🤩😅🙌🏼
They didn't go to the Heights and they were walking around with a misinformed kid. Calling the Sancocho soup.
Sure!! They need to go to the trucks.
Can’t believe he said “Cibao” is a city in the DR 🤦♀️. FYI, for those watching, the Cibao is entire REGION in the DR of which Santiago is it’s largest city, it is a region that is essentially the northern half of the island excluding Samaná. And Dominicans do not say “Adobo” we say sazón, Adobo is a Rican word.
He deadass irritated me when he called Cibao a city 😂🤦♂️
adobo and sazon are actually 2 different things. Adobo just consists (mainly/usually) garlic powder, salt, pepper, tumeric, and oregano, whereas sazon is that list that I just listed plus achote(for color and flavor). Also I've had both Dominican friends and Rican friends(like myself) use both adobo and sazon.
Exactly!
Filipinos say adobo too. Our food overlaps with Puerto Rican food a lot, particularly the famous lechon.
They got the most clueless guide
I’m Puertorican and I loveeeee Dominican food!! And the people are lovely.
Will or have you guys ever did a tour of Puertorican food??
You guys are fun to watch and very authentic! Loving the content as a new subscriber!
They did one a while ago, but I think it may need a revisit
Your in the minority on a Puerto Rican loving Dominican food, no joda.
There's this one recent UA-cam video for a Puerto Rican food truck by Angel on I think it's 172nd or 174th in the Bx. I haven't tried it yet but will soon. But yeah, los 2 paises DR and PR both have very good food. I'm Dominican y tambien me encanta Rican food. And, I prefer Coquito instead of Ponche Crema de Oro during the Holidays.😋
Many of their foods is similar or the same as Dominican food it starts to overlap. One thing the Dominicans can do better is the beans. My gf is both so I get the best of both countries
I'm a Dominican from Flushing. Queens has some good Dominican food spots like Mamajuana. He’s wrong about that MLB statistic, baseball is still mostly White. But baseball is definitely the top sport in DR. I’ve known a lot of minor leaguers, related to one and I’m also related to a professional player. If you’re Dominican you’re going to know a baseball player. And shoutout to Felipe Lopez, I met him back in the 90s when he was still with SJU. He was big for us in NYC and playing for SJU, big for us Dominicans in Queens.
Mofongo isn’t ours though, mofongo is Puerto Rican in origin. Mangu is from DR. And Goya is not a Dominican brand.
Yeah every where up north (jackson heights flushing etc ) has good food and more safer than the rest of queens
Nice city... that Cibao. 😜
However we do have plátano asado majado very much like mofongo; Puerto Rican like potatoes.
@Dani P i think all hispanic countries make tres leche
We make good mofongo tho!
The Cibao is a northern region of the Dominican Republic. And Santiago de los Caballeros is one of the cities that represent it.
Exactly. The dude in the video was misinformed.
@@DCampusano1 Agreed.
@@DCampusano1 Yes el hermanito was kind of lost with his info.

Andrew: We got AL-JEN-IS here!
Algenis: Hey, what's goin on guys, my name is *Algenis* (Al-Hen-Niss) ...
David: AL-JEN-IS.
first thing i noticed lmao
"An authentic Dominican friend."
Then messes up his name back to back 🤦🏻♀️
@@Laminte557 It's one of the reasons why I tune in every time. It's unintended "Fung Bros Comedy"
I was like bruh how to y'all fuck up his name right after he just pronounced it lol
@@nnamdi1292 Practically to his face. It's pretty epic.
Puerto Rican food and Dominican food are so so similar in many ways and I love that about our cultures, it makes me so proud to see the food showcased in other parts of NYC. Y’all gotta go to The Bronx for the best though!!
There is a big sea between islands and our cultures similarities is because of immigration; the same would be Cuban’s, Venezuela’s, Colombia’s ect.
You will not find same food or similar taste.
🇵🇷🇵🇷 wepaa
Yess so true
There is so much beauty between Dominican and Rican food
being dominican seeing you guys enjoying our food is super cool. shout out to all the dominicans here! 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
This video was made for me I’m Korean and Dominican
Wow! unusual mixture
That’s a cool mix
That’s so cool
Yo that’s cool
My niece has a crazy mix. Her dad, (my brother) is Dominican/Salvadoran and her mother is Japanese/Swedish
Not gonna lie....Dominican people are one of the greatest peeps to come along with on earth, you won't regret it and you'll comeback!
I’m Dominican been following y’all for a super long time. And GOYA is Puerto Rican.. come on man
We do have a headquarters in PR but is a Spain 🇪🇸 brand
It’s sadly neither it’s Spain they stole our flavors and sold it to us
Yep, from Spaniards that first migrated to Puerto Rico.
It’s from Spain, 🇪🇸 but originally Moroccan owned at first.
Goya is a US company founded by Spanish immigrants, look it up and shut up.
This was good!! Next time definitely get some Chimis and Yaroa!!! The trucks in Washington heights will do the trick also empanada monumental would hit the spot for a snack. Cheese empanada with the chimi sauce is my faaave. Don’t forget the jugo de Chinola (which is passion fruit juice made fresh) AND the Morir soñando! These are staple juices from DR. Deff give these a try! ☺️
As a Hawaiian, I’ve always wanted to try Dominican food. It looks good!
Island culture represent
You would love it! It's so delicious!
Taste good yummy😋😋
Get tostones, bandera and a few other items. It’s not like any other Latin cuisine with the exception of Puerto Rico and Cuba
@@farnortheastmovement1127I just visited DR 🇩🇴 for the first time last month. The food was amazing!!
7:56 Dang, even Pitbull be there, eating them quava cheese 😎
Hahaha I was just about to comment
Lmfaoooooooooo yo I had to come back to this comment and give you your flowers I was fully expecting there to be a story about pitbull visiting one of these places 😂😂
Mofongo is a Puertorriqueño dish. Dominicans original dish is call the mangú. The Cubans also make a similar dish call Fufu which all 3 dishes originated from the Africans. The 3 islands just added different flavors to each dish to make it their own. And that’s real talk.
Mofongo is dominican too
@@sucrelys1 Please explain how is it a Dominican dish? When the Dominicans were running away from Trujillos dictatorship and went to Puerto Rico, many felt in love with the dish and started to make the same dish as their own. But is all good my brother
Dominican breakfast is bangin. that salami cheese and mangu fills you up
They have a young Dominican brother showing them around, of course it’s not going to be “authentic”/old school food, but that is what youngsters recognize as Dominican now.
I recommend for part 2, you try some oxtails/mondongo/stewed chicken and some plain rice and beans with avocado/tostones! From the Bronx and Washington Heights.
Ohhhh yay!!! 🇩🇴 my husband & kiddos are Dominican-thank you for this great video & tasting/experiencing/representing the NYC Dominican cultures’ cuisine!! 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
Finally someone is recognizing my people I’m proud to be Dominican 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
Love love love it!! As a Dominican watching ppl from somewhere else enjoy our food is awesome !!! Making me hungry over here! But definitely enjoyed watching all the yummy food.
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE

Being Dominican this make me feel proud
Yay! Thank you guys for showing this 🙏🏼🇩🇴♥️ As a American Dominican born in Washington Heights ... this feels great ! 🙏🏼👏🏼 stay safe !
I love this! So much more Dominican food still pending to try... but this was pretty good!
Yay!!!! Love u guys showing love to my peoples. DOMINICANS!!!!!🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
The Barber knows whats up. Mangu con los tres golpes (Egg, fried cheese, dominican salami) is hands down my favorite breakfast and I'm not even Dominican lmfao. It's just so fucking great, especially if made right.
Thank you guys for taking the time to show love to Dominican food. Ya did ya research and asked great question showing genuine interest in the culture.
8:18 Dominican restaurant with Mexican music lol love it
Dominicans listen to all kinds of music especially on the island boleros, baladas, rancheras, salsa etc is heavily listened to
this ep was FIRE
Thank you for acknowledging and showing our Dominican culture 🙏🏻🇩🇴
LETSS GOOOOOO been a fungros subscriber for years so this is so dope for me as a Dominican from NY!! Enjoy guys stay safe !!!
My humble opinion: I feel a lot more could've been done with the food choices and with much more accuracy.
1) Drink: Malta from Puerto Rico- Isn't specific to Dominican culture; should have given Morir Soñando (Dreamy, creamy citrus drink) or Refresco de Avena( Oat Smoothie Drink).
2) Dessert: Tres Leches- Isn't specific to Dominican cuisine; should have given Dominican rum cake, or habichuela con dulce (red bean candy), or maiz caquiado(corn kernel dessert), or dulce de leche with the banana leaf. This culture has near limitless dessert creations, probably one of the largest, so that should've been an easy one. Btw, I think the people have a sweet tooth.
3) Entreé: Mofongo- Isn't specific to Dominican cuisine; is also native to Puerto Rico; should have stuck with plain, ol mangú or asopao.
4) Iced sweets: Helado, in other words, "ice cream", should have been *junjún* , similar to a snow cone, saturated w/ sugary, heavy syrups; typically are fruit-based with flavors of the Caribbean island's exotic fruits,,,,tamarind, guanabana(prickly pear) or passion fruit.
They came here to experience the authentic Dominican palate, but are missing out on the real stuff. I was born and raised in the U.S., and have Dominican parents, but even, I, know this is inaccurate.
Need to do a part 2, please. Thank you🙏.
That's way too much expectation for these guys. That said, TOTALLY AGREED.
@@bkcalvine Exactly true, and thought I would be alone in this until I saw the other commentors who noticed too, because we come from Dominican upbringing, so "know" it's inaccurate.
Your comments alone were more impressive than the video posted. Now I'm hungry🤣
@@oc5406 Thank you ☺🙊! I think I'm hungry too after having reread it, lol.
I wanted to mention that Dominican desserts are probably the best in the whole world and with the most variety.
@@jasminflowerz1710 yeah, to bad you can't get helados Bon here. Or can you?
Thank you for doing this one love it yaaa
Finally!! 🇩🇴🇩🇴
I have been waiting for this for years finally lol
Glad yall got to experience DR goodness. I'm Asian too living in a heavily populated dr neighborhood. Love it. Summers are always live. I dont mind the music till 4am either. Chimi trucks. 100 barber shops on the same block and they all be packed. Every corner store makes pastelitos

You need a part 2 and go to Washington heights to Johns fried chicken its a 24/7 spot. Absolutely delicious
Damn, i wasn't expecting this, but glad you guys enjoyed the food of my people.
I'm happy when you guys do Caribbean food in general but this was special.
For anyone thinking about visiting a place owned by a dominican, do it, we are very welcoming people.
Damn 😍 that Dominican guy is so handsome 😲
he looks like jordan fisher
We needed this big time, where my Dominicans at💯
I've eaten alot of mangu de tres golpes back in the day. I live in the Bronx, but I ve purchased mangu in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn also. Mangu fills you up so much that you may skip lunch . It's great Dominican food and easily available in many bodegas and most restaurants. Buy early because they may run out. Eddie from Parkchester. TY Fung Bros. 3/17/22
Wonderful, lovely, thanks
Thank you for covering Dominican food. Saludos a Algenis. Shout out to all Dominicans and Dominican youtubers. I'm Dominican as well. 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
This was cool to watch..
About time!
The video we were all waiting for 🇩🇴 de lo mio
Here for this Dominican content 🤗
I’m Dominican but I live in Philly. I thought that the reason a lot of Dominicans own bodegas because they were originally owned by PRs. And since a lot left to Florida and even here in Philly (where there is a huge population of PRs) Dominicans bought it off of them & it was easier bcuz both spoke the language.
I like watching your videos guys
Yessssss Dominican food! Mi orgullo!
Love this world in NY series experiencing different cultures without leaving the city.
This would be a nice first date idea. Going to a few different Dominican spots to eat. 🤤
Dominicana represent !!! 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴

As a Dominican-Chinese in NY there’s a bunch of good stuff I could definitely recommend if your trying fusion food.
-Chinito latino
- Mama Sushi
And very delicious Dominican food all around Washington heights and Inwood area!
Hope this helps
Thank you! 💕
Another important dessert dish which I found missing is "Habichuelas con Dulce." It may sound like a strange concoction but it is made of ground sweeten red beans and coconut milk and other added aromatic spices, similar to those found in Chai tea from India. It is a sweet bean liquid dessert with a texture similar to creamy squash soup and traditionally garnished with milk cookies or with Casabe, "a flatbread made of yuca (aka mandioca) flour." It is especially popular around the Easter holiday, a dish deeply rooted in our cuisine, most likely found nowhere else in the world, but only in the DR
How about "Morir soñando" (To die dreaming). I personally prefer calling it "Orange Dreams" is a popular beverage in the DR usually made of orange juice, milk, cane sugar, and chopped ice. Sometimes vanilla extract is also added, or evaporated milk used instead of regular milk. The recipe varies greatly depending on the region and family heritage. Americans who have tried it described the drink as resembling an orange Creamsicle (4)
finally! reppin DR culture
Looks delicious 🤤!!
Great video, was insightful to see Dominican Culture in the LES/"Loisaida" as I thought you were going to ride Uptown. Hard not to crave those chuletas as its been ages. Great content.
That Dominican barber is a legend! He been cutting hair for more than 25 years, I remember my grandfather taking me when I was younger with him to go get a hair cut at that spot on grand.
Del Lo Mío

You can’t have a Dominican food vid without MANGU
Love u guys maaan I'm Puerto Rican and Dominican and I can say 100% dominican food is freaking amazing and trust you'll always get the best cuts from a Dominican or Puerto rican barber mainoy dominican tho
