In RA2 this thing didn't really have any counters. It could outshoot allied tanks and could defend itself against allied air attacks. The prism tank, the allied tech equivalent had greater range, was cheaper, but it was extremely fragile and best for destroying buildings. The only thing I was ever afraid of when using apocolypse tanks was having them be mind-controlled in Yuri's Revenge, which made me prefer to produce terror drones instead.

There is a dude there in the comment section which explains why a lot of tanks were destroyed. 3 quantity is the best quality so if russia uses a lot of t72 tanks that is good, they are easy to manufacture and can kill enemy soldiers why waste millions of dollars on tanks like the abrams and leopard tanks if they won't even fight any tank to tank battles.
