Hydrofoil: this is only near the coast, and even there you can handle it with a "magnetic harpoon". Guardians: yes, the enemy gets damage under the beam perfectly, but it still lacks against the Instruments of Doom. Also Cryocopters are still broken, how broken? It wins 1 on 1 against ANY AA ground units, a Bullfrog is considered lucky if it takes out 50% HP from a cryo, as the cryo can render it useless before it can even take 50%damage. Allies are excellent in one thing: Support. And having them as your co-commander is something you always want to have. Healing? IFV with an Engineer. Harassment? Cryo + Twinblade/Tengu, this is incredibly disgusting, they don't rearm/refuel and can be anywhere in the map, special points for Tengu for being an AA as well that can protect the Cryos. Crowd control? Cryo. Logistics? Chronosphere, chronoswap, and other chrono abilites that will guarantee that your armor or worse: MCV will always be at the place you want instantly. Have you ever been so angry about Empire players rushing turrets at your base? Well if you have an Allied player and you have a Sputnik you can always return the favor in three flavors: chonosphere, chronoswap or just Shrink ray a Spuntink and run it there

I was very sad upon realese of RA3 that apocalypse tank cant shoot aircraft units. :( In ranked games I used them not very often, but when I do it was that tactic with choopers and tanks, but not always with a curtain. It was last resort tactics, but people were surprised and it often works.
Magnetic Harpoon a Time Bomb? Being hit with a time bomb near an Apocalypse Tank somehow rarely happens to me so this is good to know hahaha. Guess I'd combine this trick with reverse moving the apoc so you don't waste the critical seconds having it turn around before dragging it again. That tg meme was also a pleasant surprise~! haha
I think it's a bit of a noob trap. It costs a huge amount of resources, the range on its guns are low, the magnetic harpoon is rather useless because of how much down time there is between switching to it, has no ability to defend itself against air attacks.
tbh i find it hard to use apocalypse tanks since i can outrange most ground units with the hammerheads leech beam so i find the leechheads more cost efficient but i also didnt know that the magnetic beam could be this useful
It doesn't matter, Apoc tanks are countered by almost everything Allies have in droves. Vindicators, Cyrcopters, Javs, Athenas, Spies, Cryo protocols etc. As Long as air play is this strong heavy ground units will never be viable aside from some yolo meme tactics. Everything the Apoc tank can achieve in the current meta do the Hammer tank can also do and it is cheaper.

It is a crime to remove anti-air missile from the Apoc tank.... Also the mag harpoon is completely over shadow by the Grinder in Uprising which does its job better at grinding stuffs .
Not viable in competitive gameplay? It's not viable in the damn mission it was introduced in! They need to give it the explosive shell by default, so it can kill everything on the ground fairly easily.

They're just not, apoc's design is focused on firepower and armor with speed being a lesser priority. The closest viable alternative to apoc tanks are tesla tanks which have proper armor, high damage, and decent speed. Too bad theyre locked behind campaign missions tho

Um, I think both V4 and elite Apoc use the damage type of HE, not rocket……Apocs don't take increased damage from rockets, but they do get *crushed* by their elite counterparts. Also infantries take reduced rocket, but full HE dam
Artillery pieces do not inflict extra damage to Apocs, they are already inflicting high damage to everthing, Apocs are weak against artillery because they are slow and cant escape from it. In RA3, being agile and fast are much better against arty than being heavily armored.

The top players focus on air, (it is the meta right now) and it is easily killed by air or arty.
