Playing this game after RDR2 hits so different. Watching Dutch go from this charismatic father figure to the psychopathic serial killer in the first game genuinely makes me so sad. All I could think was this must of been what Arthur felt like. What a fool I was to ever follow that man in the second game. It got everyone killed & the saddest part is I think Dutch understood that. His final moments were so well written because he says the same speech with Arthur when they jump off the cliff together into the river below to get away from the military. Makes his death even sadder when you realize it’s the same speech & he’s probably reminiscing about Arthur & John & everything they once had… “you can’t fight change John… my whole life…. You can’t fight…. Gravity…”
I don't want to be that guy but there was no Arthur in the first game nor intention for him to exist and Arthur only exists because of the original John Marton's success in that first game. Alright crucify me...
@@wellington66440 It’s quite likely that Arthur Morgan did exist in the timeline of the original Red Dead Redemption back in 2010. Writers often create detailed backstories for characters, including things like past events, childhood experiences, friends, family, personal preferences (like favorite food, color, book, movie, hobby, etc). These details make characters feel more compelling and realistic, even if they don’t show up directly in the game’s plot. Typically, only the writers know about these details because they're not meant for the public. For example, in Breaking Bad, Lalo Salamanca is mentioned almost a decade before he appears in Better Call Saul, simply because Saul Goodman’s character had a detailed backstory from the start. This kind of approach helps writers build more immersive worlds and add depth to their characters.
@@Nick_Cardona It's very clear that this isn't the case, as they wouldn't miss the opportunity to mention it during crucial moments of the game. It's similar to how Nathan Drake's brother Sam was introduced in Uncharted 4-it's as if they just parachuted the character in and tried to stitch up the whole story, hoping we would accept it. For many people, it's like telling an innocent kid that Santa isn't real but I love the first game too much to accept it being violated by the second. the second owes it all to the first and they downgrade john as much as they could so that Arthur could shine. not the same game, not the same plot. it's more like a remake. they did that from red dead revolver to the first redemption.
I love rdr2, but Rdr1 will always be my favorite. It’s tímeless. I simply can’t get bored of it, it feels like. (I’ve been playing it since it came out)
