I've listened to all their podcasts from the very beginning of Acq Inc. It's a lot of fun to hear them go from not knowing what they are doing to being basically pros at it. Always good for a laugh too.
This makes me really happy to start back in my 3.5 campaign which is on hiatus. We've been playing for several years. There are 8 pc's but not all of them show up on any given game day. We around 9th or 10th level.
I've seen the later stuff and loved it so I had to come back to the beginning. Its amazing how this company comes to be... they are so much more decisive than my group. Gotta Love Jerry Holkins Leadership, Jim Darkmagic is as cocky as balls, and Scott Kurtz as Binwin Bronzebottom is a freakish comedic genius (though they all really are). I'd pay money to play with Chris Perkins as my DM.
DND is practically free form jazz in the sense that (from a DM stand point) you have to be ready for ANYTHING the players think of, that you have to play along with in a seamless fashion. Making sound as if *as dm* it was planned all along. Which makes for an amazing game session
If you listen through all the AI podcasts there are alot of situations in games that are foreshadowed in previous campaigns. I'm convinced that Chris re-listens to these and picks out one or two things that were said and builds on or around them
joey gautreau Do you think the grey-haired man in the tavern who is talking to the commander and raises his glass to the party in 2014 is Nathan Fairingray?
Hmmm idk, it's possible I guess, the only problem with that theory is the party switched from grey-hawk to faerun. If his 2015 campaign is any hint, then the grey - haired man could be anyone from Elminster to Isteval
I’ve never heard any of these original podcasts, I only ever saw a couple of the live show videos and just thought they were cool. This should be fun to see where things started!
This helps because when you listen to podcasts in iTunes it downloads mp3's to you computer which can take up space. Might not matter to a lot of people these days. But something of note. It's fun going back to here their first time naming him Jim Darkmagic :
If this conversation/podcast happened 2000 years ago, then this would be a major world religion in the current time. The 'Bible' would just be a collection of Jim Darkmagic's childhood stories and Oman Drann's legal contacts over their past 20+ years.
Having discovered AI by watching later episodes at PAX, I am finding the very first podcast and game ever played thoroughly entertaining! These guys have come a long way.
I'm patiently awaiting the last Acq Inc. (v1.0) adventure from PAX Unplugged that just happened this last weekend. I had to go back to the beginning and drink deep of their awesome launch that has launched a franchise that was my companion podcast through so much bs of my life over the last decade plus. I love this group, I love this brand, I love PA and I love AI. I even bought merch that other people had to ask "what the hell is that?" Jerry, Mike, Scott, Chris... thank you.
I've really enjoyed the PAX D&D sessions, and this is watching (listening) to their old home movies. Here is the origin story of Acquisitions Inc., has Mike's first d20 roll ever, and Chris reveals a penchant for pools of acid.
the short "darkmagic is just your name, that doesnt mean people would suspect you of using dark magic" convo gave strong "cannibal named hannibal" vibes
"This is my first roll" "It's important to roll well or you will curse the dice forever." *rolls a basically perfect roll* Thus Ac Inc was destined to flourish
Wow, I’m the first comment in about 3 years! Crazy! It’s great hearing the start of the huge phenomenon that it’ll turn out to be. It’s great to tune into the earlier episodes to gain that kind of perspective. You’ve gotta love that about the internet: the way it historically catalogues information that might turn out to be really important later on. It’s wonderful stuff!

Scott tried to get bonus hp forBinwin right off the bat and Chris shut it down.. HAAH!
Man, all this 4e talk is oddly nostalgic.
If Mike ever joins the Star Wars games as a player rather than DM, he needs to play as Chet Awesomelaser.
I wanna hear more about Chet Awesomelaser!
avbsvideo i wanna know how he got that name!
Menard Shortypants as his trusty side-kick.
Sometimes its just nice to go back and listen to how it all began
Listening to this made me a little emotional. They don't know how big this will be.
Was a big fan of Dice Camera Action and was curious to try this series out. So far its really interesting seeing how naturally this all came about.
First time listening to this series. Hope I'll enjoy the ride :)
I hope you found it that way.
was it good?
I like the name "Chet Awesomelazer"
And it's really nice to find one of these that doesn't start in the middle.
Am I the only one who Googled "rat king" because there is a wikipage. XD
I thought you were talking about a dnd monster but after I heard them talk about it I had to google it too. Cray
I'll always love this episode. It was the thing that got me into D&D.
I love watching Jim aka Mike rolling his first 20 sided. to dm ing a game.
Here to get ready for the series.
Thanks you, Christopher Perkins for improving my DMing. Your forever in my that debt.
DND is practically free form jazz in the sense that (from a DM stand point) you have to be ready for ANYTHING the players think of, that you have to play along with in a seamless fashion. Making sound as if *as dm* it was planned all along. Which makes for an amazing game session
31:10 Will Wheaton should have paid attention! Chris foreshadowed that fateful day all the way in the beginning!

If you listen through all the AI podcasts there are alot of situations in games that are foreshadowed in previous campaigns. I'm convinced that Chris re-listens to these and picks out one or two things that were said and builds on or around them
joey gautreau
The best DMs are the most evil hobbitses
joey gautreau Do you think the grey-haired man in the tavern who is talking to the commander and raises his glass to the party in 2014 is Nathan Fairingray?
Hmmm idk, it's possible I guess, the only problem with that theory is the party switched from grey-hawk to faerun. If his 2015 campaign is any hint, then the grey - haired man could be anyone from Elminster to Isteval
I’ve never heard any of these original podcasts, I only ever saw a couple of the live show videos and just thought they were cool. This should be fun to see where things started!
I've never gone back to watch the 1st sessions, but here we go!
This helps because when you listen to podcasts in iTunes it downloads mp3's to you computer which can take up space. Might not matter to a lot of people these days. But something of note. It's fun going back to here their first time naming him Jim Darkmagic :
And thus, a legend was born.
If this conversation/podcast happened 2000 years ago, then this would be a major world religion in the current time. The 'Bible' would just be a collection of Jim Darkmagic's childhood stories and Oman Drann's legal contacts over their past 20+ years.
Thank you.
I can't believe that Jim Darkmagic was like 1 step away from being Jim felt or whatever the fuck they said
+Jude Lucas fell-magic i believe, same meaning
Having discovered AI by watching later episodes at PAX, I am finding the very first podcast and game ever played thoroughly entertaining! These guys have come a long way.
i watched most of this like 6 years ago
doesnt show which episode i was on so time to rewatch them all
I'm patiently awaiting the last Acq Inc. I even bought merch that other people had to ask "what the hell is that?" Jerry, Mike, Scott, Chris... thank you.
Lovely found the beginning of this troup of.. wanderers.
16:48 and the ultimate adventuring business endeavor, is formed.
7:02 and thus a legend was born...
I've really enjoyed the PAX D&D sessions, and this is watching (listening) to their old home movies. Here is the origin story of Acquisitions Inc., has Mike's first d20 roll ever, and Chris reveals a penchant for pools of acid.
and here we are , 5 years later - and a new game Clank! Legacy will come up soon, based on this epic DnD Podcast :D Excellent ;)
the short "darkmagic is just your name, that doesnt mean people would suspect you of using dark magic" convo gave strong "cannibal named hannibal" vibes
"This is my first roll"
"It's important to roll well or you will curse the dice forever."
*rolls a basically perfect roll*
Thus Ac Inc was destined to flourish
Scott: "I'm going to move here--"
Chris: "Okay, stop."
This happens again in a later podcast. Ha!
At 16:43 the first time Acquisitions Incorporated is named And So It Begins
Wow, I’m the first comment in about 3 years! Crazy!
It’s great hearing the start of the huge phenomenon that it’ll turn out to be. It’s great to tune into the earlier episodes to gain that kind of perspective. You’ve gotta love that about the internet: the way it historically catalogues information that might turn out to be really important later on. It’s wonderful stuff!
Jim winks.
From "How do you throw a rope in a hole?" to making out with a lich clone of himself so that he can blow up its head with a magic tower he grows out of a pebble. Jim Darkmagic has come a long way.
