Hello from deepest South Devon in the South West of England. I have been watching your podcasts all this year and feel very lucky that they were the first podcasts I ever watched. You have helped me through a very difficult year which has seen me both recover from major hip surgery and close my wool shop. I am now a new convert to podcasts and have also watched many others mainly through your recommendations. So a huge thankyou. I am 63 and have knitted since I was two years old. I have taught many people to knit and spin..it has cheered me to know that so many young people are enjoying these fibre crafts and are now linked across the world.
@@knittingtraditionsThank you All went very well and I am now out of pain. Knitting is almost always the answer to most things in my opinion. In my shop I specialised in selling natural yarns and the majority were not super was as I have always advocated the yarns you call rustic..(I do like this description) I now have a house full plus a friend's spare room of remainder stock. If you know of any one who would be interested..I still sell a little to my current stoners from my cottage, but it would be nice to see the rest go to a good home maybe a startup business. I have some interest in this but would like to spread the net further afield. Take care. Dawn.
I would add my voice to your post as UA-cam podasters have helped me more than I can say over the pandemic. Inga being one of the best podcasters, imo, and I think we should give a huge thank you to her for holding down a high stress job and producing the podcasts we love. ❤💖💙🧡❤
I have also knitted my way through a couple of hip replacements and so many other losses and ups and downs. I cannot imagine how difficult it was to close your wool shop. It is wonderful to "meet" you here though!!
@@Stumpybear7640 I agree. I would love to learn to do a podcast but don't have a clue how to start. I was used to travelling around giving talks to large groups but it's the tech bit I would flounder with.
Thank you so much Inga, for another wonderful podcast! All of your content is so interesting - and I always learn something from you. I love the way you present all the lovely wips, fos and acquisitions. And I also enjoyed that you included a wee snippet of your visit to Tromse! ❤❤
I use a mnemonic for kitchener. Just remember to ‘cough upon’ your kitcheners. That means You ‘koff pon’ the front needle, (knit-off : purl-on). and then reverse that for the back needle ie ‘poff kon’ (purl-off : knit-on). Set up is just the ‘on’ parts of that, so purl-on for the front needle, knit-on for the back. I hope this makes sense 😊
One of the things I love about your podcast is that you aren't constantly using hand dyed yarn for everything. I love hand dyed yarn, but I can't afford it for everything. A sweater will run $100.00 to $200.00 dollars for hand dyed yarn. I love hearing about all the other yarns and where you find them. It is a big help. Your sweaters are always lovely. Thank you for sharing it all with us.
I am knitting my first top-down raglan sleeve sweater (Petite Knit's "No Frills Sweater"). I chose a lace boucle in pale tan and a fingering weight in dark cream. It's not too bad, though I do catch needles in it ever so often, but it is beautiful! I've been knitting off and on for over 50 years, or I wouldn't have tried a boucle and a new adventure at the same time. It's working out though. Thanks for being an inspiration.
I appreciate you telling us about the eco information on the Drops website. I will not buy superwash because of the environmental impact and the people that are exposed to the chemicals used. I knit with a lot of Drops KID SILK. I WILL CHECK I TO IT. THANKS AGAIN
You've chosen some nice patterns and yarns for your knitting. Like your striped self designed jumper. You should discover some native Norwegian designs and add your own unique style. Like with your grandmother's sock technique, but with patterns, colour works for jumpers.Just a thought.
If you like unspun wool, you should check out some of the Cowichan patterns from Vancouver Island. My mom made a set for my little brother when he was 2 (cardigan and hat). Virgin undyed wool in ivory, grey, beige, brown tones. My mom treated hers with a castor oil bath, before blocking.
Thank you Inga! Must tell you I bought a lovely hat in Fenwicks Newcastle you may have heard of it here in Uk 🇬🇧! Hat was only about 84 kroner instead 213 kroner the style is beanie but a beautiful colourful yarn similar to the blanket you are knitting! Love both your sweaters you showed in fact everything you show is gorgeous and I agree lots of beautiful yarns! Xx 💜🧶💜
Inga, you've inpired me to make to Bjork Raglan, your version is a very beauiful color combination and it looks great on you!! I've just started knitting in the round (after the short rows) in the raglan increase section in the yoke but I'm stuck!! My problem is that in the raglan stitches around the BOR are not lining up. I cannot fingure out how to avoid the jog problem. I keep getting a zig zag pattern (like spider web) rather that the raindrops pattern at the BOR raglan. Please advise. I'd really appreciate any help here!
When I sent you the Ravelry links for the Sofia Capelle pattern, Heart of the Forest, I forgot to mention that "Fruity Knitting" interviewed her and she discussed the story behind the pattern. If you haven't seen it, you might be interested in it as you also seem to love the out-of-doors. 🙂
The stitch holder tubes. Are they hard to slide stitches on? Mine seem to stick more then I'd like. Takes me much longer to do the quick try on or block for size. Defeats the purpose. It looks like the same brand. I've gone back to the cross stitch string and darning needle.
If all knitters would make a beauty contest, I am sure you would win that sparkling, You are so beautiful and it's such a pleasure for the eye to look at, and when you speak, you are mellow and smart. Please be careful and be safe. Thank you for your talents.
16:38, I love the top-down raglan, the colorwork has a horizontal stripe effect to it that's why it makes you 'look' bigger; I find that horizontal stripes tend to do that.

Hi there. It is been some time since I have checked in. As a doctor I am so amazed with your time to knit and bring these video’s in sharing your beautiful makes. I am having a bit of tea also while watching. The sweater is fabulous. Wow the stripes match from the sleeves to the body. Such perfection. I do love that type of collar and have thought of alternating a pattern (pretty bold for me) to make it mine. Nice that you had time to visit yarn stores. One day I would love to visit Norway.

Hello Inga! Thank you for all your lovely podcasts! I have a wip with the Drops Bouclé and have a lot of problems. It is a beautiful yarn but so difficult to knit. I dropped some stiches and saw the holes too late! I don’t recommand but maybe you will manage!
I love your podcast. It's so calming. I wake up every night around 2am and watch you until I fall asleep. I'm die (actually late)with baby #3 and I'm going to start from your first episode during those late night feedings.
I just finished the Bjork before Xmas. Exactly the same colors as yours, except my rust for the colorwork is Nutiden also. And while I am watching your podcast I am using Zakami Suri Alpaca (bought it at the Perth Yarn Festival last fall) along with Nomad Asperitas for a Lento. I am in the US, but this summer I will be in Norway and Denmark, so there will not be a yarn diet in my life. I do knit a lot, but you are next level. Happy to see you today!
Hello, first time here. I really love the brown/yellow sweater. It looks like a traditional sweater that has been forgotten in an old boat with rust stains and grunge and stains. It's like it has an old story already, if you get me right. The yellow yarn makes it very interesting. Greetings from Denmark.
Hello from Harare, Zimbabwe way down in the southern part of Africa ! I love your knitting podcast ! Thank you for all the inspiration and showing us interesting yarns (we call it wool here) that's around. Also love seeing the scenes at the end of your Norwegian street scenes and of course the fabulous shop with all the wool / yarns to buy. Wonderful !
I got some pure wool Swiss fingering weight yarn at the thrift shop for $1 and after I started watching your podcast I bought a ball of silk mohair. I am making the most lovely pair of socks for my sister! So, thanks for the great suggestion!!! I am an avid cross country skier too, here in southern British Columbia. It doesn't get as cold as Norway and our winters are shorter. so it's a challenge to figure out what to make that won't be too hot to wear out on the trails. I want to wear my knitwear skiing!
Enjoy every minute! As much as I love your scenery at the end of your podcast ( really love) man that yarn shop is unbelievable!!! It’s like therapy for the knitters soul!!! I need a fiend trip there !!!
Always a delight to sit and knit to your podcast! I love both sweaters you wore; the stripe my favorite! I think Kat of Heather and Hops might have a pine tree hat border pattern...think she did a sweater too. Happy New Year!
Hi inga, saying hello from aotearoa new zealand, and thanking u for bringing this content into the world, as always ❤❤

Hello

Wonderful !
That rust & yellow combination is so pretty!
Your sweaters are beautiful. Too bad you didn't see the Northern Lights. That yarn store looked AMAZING!!
FYI, in Italian "filati" just means "yarn", so that yarn must have another name too 😉
It was lovely to visit with you today! Love your makes ❤️
😘😘😘
Thank you for the time, Inga! Love your striped raglan!!!!
Enjoy every minute! As much as I love your scenery at the end of your podcast ( really love) man that yarn shop is unbelievable!!! It’s like therapy for the knitters soul!!! I need a fiend trip there !!!
PetiteKnit has just put out patterns for bouclé cushions and Sari Nordlund is doing a waistcoat/bolero….
Always a delight to sit and knit to your podcast! I love both sweaters you wore; the stripe my favorite! I think Kat of Heather and Hops might have a pine tree hat border pattern...think she did a sweater too. Happy New Year!
Boucle yarn is definitely fiddly to work with, and it slows me down. I like the outcome, but I am not a fan.
Your colorwork sweaters are beautiful! The size of that yarn shop is mind blowing!
A lovely corner indeed.
Thank you💕💕💕
Hi Inga! Oh, those silk mohair cones are sooooo pretty. I need to pull out my garter squares and make some more for my blanket.
Look up the mitre square blanket. That’s a fun and easy pattern for scraps of yarn.
I love the improvised sweater! I'm having dreams of casting on my own now. :)
You can do it!
Çok güzel olmuş
