What a beautiful gem. I've been telling people for 30 yrs JPJ was the glue that made the music of Zeppelin shine. Yes they all brought a Creative force, Plant with his rough bluesy style, Bonham with his incredible booming rhythm and Page with his arrangements and pushing the sounds and equipment that Guitar players everywhere now can use everyday. But it has always been JPJ playing the Keyboard hitting the right keys that sail with PLants vocals, playing the Mandolin to give the song The Battle of Evermore that kick the song over the edge into our imagination. Laying down the Bass beat rhythm so Page could fly and always have a place to land safely. Anyway all those guys when put together gave us Music that will last as long as men have electricity to run music players
Yep John Paul Jones the arranger the man that put most of all the ideas together what's awesome about Led Zeppelin was total respect 4 each other in the studio. But him out here playing with Seasick Steve this is a treat I love this bluegrass and Seasick Steve was one of the coolest musicians around.
I am scrEAMINGGGG Omggg look at Jonesy!!! Good lord, how I love that man!!! He's adorable when he stands still, he's adorable when he walks, he's adorable when he's sitting down, he's adorable when he's playing and making cute faces while playing, he's adorable when he's giving solos, he's adorable when he's talking.... But looK AT HIS FACE WHEN HE'S SINGING. I CAN'T. *Why is John Paul Jones SO FUCKING ADORABLE.*
Came across this video looking for Seasick Steve videos. Little did I know I would come across John Paul Jones being awesome. That dude has stood up well against the hands of time. Good to see him out there enjoying himself.
@trialsanderrors, thank you for this gem. I was at this set. My friends and I can all be heard screaming our asses off in this video lol. We were to the right side of the stage, pretty much right in front. None of us had any idea who Seasick Steve was, but earlier that day, during Les Claypool's set on the big stage (I cannot for the life of me remember the name of that stage now!), where he was performing as a part of Les Claypool's Duo de Twang, one of my buddies found his way down into the audience and smoked a bowl with this random other guy. The guy told my buddy that he just *had* to go see Seasick Steve that evening, and my buddy took the advice to heart! We were far from the Porch Stage when my buddy informed our group of ~15 people that we HAD to get to the Porch Stage to see Seasick Steve. He played one song and then he said, "I'd like to introduce my friend John Paul Jones!" We all freaking lost it. All of us were/are huge classic rock fans, and, obviously, Zep takes the cake!!! It was a day I will never forget!!! Thank you for the shared memories!!
Jp is so cool and diwn to earth- probably one of yhe greatest musicians in the greatest bands and he is stood there like - lets blow the roof off this tent
Grateful I was tipped off to not miss Seasick Steve. Was one of too-few people witnessing this incredible performance! Thank you both & Warren Hellman & HSB. ❤️💪🎶✨🌎✌️
Not at alll! I was *there* . Steve opened his show with just his drummer on a small side stage at HSB festival. There were around 100 people in the audience when Steve announced that he was bringing out JPJ from "The Led Zeppelin" the place went NUTS. People started calling and texting and in minutes *thousands of people crowed around. (Robert Plant played on another stage that day, but not with JPJ.)
I feel like not a lot of people realized that was the bassist from led zeppelin. maybe steve introduced him at that but if not they were certainly in for a treat
Mea Culpa 😔...... Les deux autres gars vibrent aussi !
John Paul Jones and Seasick Steve are like chocolate and peanut butter.
I love how JPJ has a backstage pass hanging from his belt. As if anyone ever would stop him and say “sorry mate, artists only.”
Whatever instrument John touches he brings to life ✨🎶✨
Probably one of the greatest musicians, JPJ...

Page played the Mandolin on battle of evermore. JPJ was going to California. I do agree though. JPJ is quite possibly the finest musician alive.

Still have an adrenaline rush watching this. It was pretty hard holding on to the camera in the throbbing crowd.

Only Jonesy can get a crowd on fire with a mandolin lol
He was the brains of Zeppelin
So happy I found this. I was there. An absolutely magical performance. Highlight of my festival.

He is so much more well known in Europe than he is in his own country USA!
Screaming for Steve and probably don’t ever realize there is a rock god on the stage.
Absolutely

I was there. Once news broke he was playing people started to swarm to the stage. In my opinion it was the best set of the festival.
One of the *KINGS OF ROCK AND ROLL* playing with a nobody (:
JPJ kills it as always
Felipe Fagionato yup🍺........ 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎻🎻🎼🎼🎼🎼🎻🎼
This gave me a big smile
Play this so loud your entire neighborhood rocks!
Ole JPJ has himself a damn fine band with him
Jonesy on electric mandolin!
In my sole I am smiling
Must be pretty lonesome for JPJ. living on a whole different planet as a musician from the rest.
Truth!!
He can remember before it was that way and travel back and forth effortlessly though.
People LOVE him!!! He is so great.
John and he loves Opera Love the guy
A true musician.
I should have found this one earlier!
Like Johnny Cash showing up at your family backyard BBQ!
I was there!
I feel like not a lot of people realized that was the bassist from led zeppelin. maybe steve introduced him at that but if not they were certainly in for a treat
They know what a god looks like.
I was there. He did introduce him and the crowd started to grow as word spread he was as playing. It was packed and awesome.
Oh yes so good.
Hell yes, rockin' bluegrass

I was there ,HSB best time of the year
J.P.J este un muzician desavarsit !!!!
I'd love to see JPJ and Marty Stuart do a Mandolin-off ...dueling mandolins
