Takes me back , lived in caravans / bothy while we planted trees all over Dumfries & Galloway . It was hard work but you don't realise how lucky you are growing up in these areas until you are older & surrounded by concrete jungles.
"Let's face it, no one really likes turkey" - Today I made my first ever turkey in the oven, spent about two hours of prep time and "basting" it inside the oven. It looks glorious, golden brown, perfect temperature in the breast meat as well as the legs. Turned out great. Salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary. Sliced onions, carrots etc around the turkey, and and onion inside the turkey. When I sat down to eat it, it was the most mediocre thing ever. Literally said to my brother: "Should have gotten a grilled chicken from the store". Eating turkey isn't a "thing" here in Sweden for Christmas, but after all the years I've seen Brits and Yanks consume it in all the Christmas movies I've seen for almost 40 years, I had to try it. It's safe to say that turkey isn't going to be on the table the coming Christmases. Anyway! Great video, great meal. Looks like a really nice place that.
Yeh but when the road was open you could drive right up to the bothy (apart from the last 1/4 nile on the rough track) so it did atract the party squad but its perty quiet now ,great wee bothy aswell

It’s a beautiful area, lots of Forestry work going on while I was there. Seems like a constantly changing place 🌲
Excellent - lovely meal!
It was! Best I’ve had in a Bothy anyway 😂

this is so true! You’ve got to try it at least once anyway 😂, glad you enjoyed it 🎅
Pretty spectacular meal for a bothy. Thanks for sharing. And happy holidays everyone.

Had many a nite in Tunskeen, its quieter now that the road has been closed the past 3 years so stops most of the hawfwits, great video 👌👍👏
Ah brilliant. The road didn’t look very useable to be honest, guess it must really make the Bothy quieter, it’s also tucked away which must help

Yes, Tunskeen was the first bothy to be restored by the newly-formed Mountain Bothies Association in the summer of 1965.
Fantastic thank you for that! 😝
