Assam floods: 6 persons die in last 24 hours, death toll rises to 52

The flood scenario in Assam remains precarious even as the situation has overall worsened. A total of 6 persons have lost their lives in the floods in the last 24 hours. This has taken the total toll to 52 so far in the state. Over 21.50 lakh people are reeling under flood waters and a total of 29 districts out of 35 have been affected. About 40,000 people are taking shelter in relief camps after their houses were either inundated or destroyed by floods.
