Where alliance and enemies aren't always clear cut! Each side having it's own agenda! The Cylons trying to annihilate all humanity, even humans in the Galactic Empire; the Galactic Empire seeking total domination; and even the Rebels and the Colonials not agreeing on every issue, even at times being set at odds against each other! WOW!
A Galactica/Star Wars Crossover would have been a dream come true. 😎😊 I suppose it may have happened if not for a) that stupid lawsuit and B) if Galactica Season 2 had happened. 👍 It may have been that humans in the the Star Wars Galaxy could have originated in the Kobol/12 Colonies Galaxy at an even earlier date and flourished over there while the 12 Colonies ultimately fell (as per Saga of a Star World). If only. Both franchises have been taken in the wrong directions: GINO (2004 onwards) should have been an entirely different franchise altogether while Disney has really gone off the rails with their handling of Star Wars. 😕 Classic Galactica and Classic Star Wars will endure for many yahrens to come, and may the Force be with both always. 👍 👏😎
I would say a TOS Battlestar is worth 2.64 ISDs. And the Colonial Fleet had 12 Battlestars. Durability/Firepower Tie Fighter: 6100/15250 Viper: 15600/15600 Tie Fighters lack Shields and therefore have 2.5x less Durability than a Fighter with their power output would have. whereas the Viper has Shields (I think it does anyway) one shot from either would destroy the other. it depends on the skill of the Pilot.

im not here to hate like others do, i loved it, it is a dream come true to watch the colonial fleet battle the empire, a battlestar vs a star destroyer, im 100% the colonials, the colonial pilots can fly circles around Tie fighter pilots, and im sure the Galactica can take the punishment, not so sure the ISD can withstand a barrage of nuclear missiles tho, good work bro
The TOS Galactica and it's fleet of 220 Civillian Ships and 150+ Vipers would actually add up to being about the same strength as the Rebel Fleet at Scarif. Just enough to take on 1 Star Destroyer in a slugging match but not a Basestar which is more powerful than the Galactica (In terms of Fighter compliment and number of guns) and the ISD.
The only way the Galactica was able to defeat the Basestar was due to the Galactica sending Starbuck and Apollo to sabotage the Basestar in order to give the Galactica a head start.
Hey, joe Padilla I agree with you ,that colonial pilots are trained better and have more skill sets then, Tie pilots do. moreover a Battle Star a think has better armor and damage control personnel to keep them in the fight ,but the empire only chance is to use tie greater numbers and rely on previous republic projectile weapons to have a chance of winning a fleet engagement with the colonial fleet.
ISD carries 72 Tie Fighters. Colonial Battlestar Carries..... over 67 Vipers. so in a one on one engagement the Galactica would most likely win due to having Solonite Missiles which are powerful enough to destroy the Galactica itself with just a few hits hinting at Megaton scale damage. The ISD would have a Turbolaser advantage (The Devastator sported 40 individual Gun Turrets in several triple and dual or quad mounts the Galactica had 32 Cannons.
The Battlestars also sported between 1 and 2 mega laser cannons mounted in the nose as well as (basically) ICBM launchers. Plus, each Battlestar carrying, at least 75 MK I Vipers, which are far superior to the TIE fighter, a Battlestar would be a match for an ISD
The Colonial Fleet did not have deflector shields where as the Imperial Fleet did. Both sides used laser or plasma bolt weapons so perhaps the Colonial Fleet ships had hulls made to resist these types of weapons similar to Mandalorian armor plates.

@@onetruekeeper well, you can throw science out the door when it comes to the show. Also, Adama does say, "Positive Shield! Now!" when the Galactica is under attack. You'll then see a large blast door drop down from the main glass window on the bridge, so no laser blast will take out their glass bridge window. Also, Commander Cain on the Pegasus did say, "Bring all electronic defense shields to maximum power!" so the Pegasus does have some form of extra shielding. He also commanded "Shield!" and the Pegasus also had a blast door cover it's bridge window.
Ralph McQuarrie was the designer for both. You can find his original design for the Galactica bridge online....when you see it, it's like looking at the common ancestor of both the Galactica bridge we ended up with, and the Star Destroyer bridges we see from Empire onward. Also, McQuarrie's original design for the Colonial Viper became the Starfighter in the late 70s Buck Rogers series.

The Colonial Fleet Battlestars did have armor plating, per the series. The Pegasus actually had deflector shields, on top of their armor.

I have noticed that Battlestar Galactica's "ragtag" fleet resembles the Rebel fleet in the way the ships look alike.

You can find his original design for the Galactica bridge online....when you see it, it's like looking at the common ancestor of both the Galactica bridge we ended up with, and the Star Destroyer bridges we see from Empire onward.
