- This is an in-depth lesson on a seemingly simple rhythm part for Molly Hatchet's version of Dreams I'll Never See. Note the bulk of the video is several "play along" practice sections at various tempos. Please see the pinned comment below for links to those timestamps.
I've seen quite a few people struggle with actually playing this lick at tempo and sustain it for the whole song. So this lesson is aimed at helping those players play it right and be able to actually sustain it.
* Just the notes, no percussion: 13:56

One of the most recognizable licks of someone born in '64. Love it. Thank you
@SuperReverbious - Great job explaining the chucking technique in this awesome song. It is a very catchy beat, and seems so simple, yet very challenging to play (at least for me). You give a fantastic roadmap to help us novices get it right. I started getting interested in playing this song a few weeks ago and I didnt see any videos that break it down the way you do, and then whammo you posted this up. Great timing on your part - Thank you!!
Thanks, glad you found it helpful.

Thank you so much for posting this, what a great song anyway.
You’re welcome. Yes, great song compliments of Gregg Allman. They did it in 3/4 time while Molly Hatchet covered it with this rendition in 4/4. Both versions are awesome.
Since you appreciate the song, here’s a link to a performance I did in 3/4 time - ABB style. (my old Allman Bros. Tribute Band.

Thank you for that awesome lesson on this song. Sounds simple however, making it sound like that is the work of genius. Then, trying explain how to do that is Brilliant! I’m working on this song and your lesson is very helpful
