Whilst I agree with you on your views (as an ex-Muslim too) I just want to give you some background info. You also need to understand the experience our older generation went through during WW1, Ataturk's reign and the fall of the Ottomans. After losing so much in WW1, the Turks were going through a severe identity crisis because their Ottoman identity was destroyed leaving behind only their last remnants of land that were conquered in the name of the Islamic ideology against the Byzantines. By this time most of the Turks had already forgotten their original Tengrist religion (although some of the traditions are still being practiced). Plus identifying as Muslim meant that you still keep some connections with the other Islamic regions (even if they were the ones who played a key part in stabbing the Ottomans in the back, leading to the fall of their last Caliph and splitting the empire). Ataturk's method of implementing secularisation by force did not go well either even if he formed the Replublic of Turkey. Basically he mocked all religions, restricted people's rights to practice it (women were not allowed to wear hijab) and the way it had to be practiced (the adhan was called in Turkish instead of Arabic for example...), etc. Also after Turkey was formed, the value of the Turkish lira was so low that it made it into the Guiness World records for being the lowest in the world at that time. Come Erdogan and he brought some religious freedoms, improved the value of the currency and some quality of life in the country. Because the older generation don't forget and the opposing party to Erdogan are ...a bit incompetent, he keeps getting voted back. This is also why most of his policies appeal to the conservative older generation's ideals to keep him in power. Now with the recent earthquake, technology, tourism, Kurdish rebellion and the younger generations waking up, he knows he's losing his grip. So unless he changes his own ideals to become more secular he will eventually lose completely.

Education is the best way. The more educated a country, the less the chance for them to be blindly superstitious and religious. And most importantly, in Islamic countries, education is given in madarsas and Islamic schools which again teaches Islam and it's greatness. First, we need to replace that by normal schools like rest of the world. That's the first them. Only then, can we make them understand that Islam is totally wrong and fake and man made.
Do you think this election will be fair? Do you think this election will not be rigged? Erdogan will ensure he remains in power. On a side note: I always cringe when people say that cracking down on alcohol is an infrigement of their civil liberties. Alcohol can be addictive and devastating. Honestly, cracking down on alcohol is not something I fear. Yes, we should fear for our right to speak out, to dress how we want, to believe what we want. But alcohol? In the grand scheme of things, it's not important.
Yes, but if someone wants to drink they will. I have never been drunk in my 47 years but I brew my own alcohol (mead). Education is the key, well-educated people who have good jobs and happy lives rarely turn to drinking and they understand the issues with drinking too much (but again, anyone can at any time). There is nothing wrong with enjoying a glass of wine with a lovely dinner, or a beer with a BBQ.
@@theastronomer5800 I'm not sure if you have understood my point or perhaps I wasn't clear enough, or maybe I haven't understood your reply. Either way, let me put my point another way. I drink alcohol. I'm not an alcoholic and neither am I in danger of harming my liver by drinking too much. I enjoy a drink now and again. But, when trying to argue about civil liberties, losing the right to drink alcohol is the last thing that should be argued because there are things far worse to lose than the pleasure of alcohol. And especially when you are appealing to muslims to vote for a more secular government.

Actually, it's the opposite. Turks are becoming irreligious. The conservative and oppressive administration with religion sauce of Erdoğan cause this. Erdogan uses religion as a shield for his politics. The majority of people over the age of 40 in Turkey are quite conservative, but atheism, deism or agnosticism skyrocketing among young Turks(generation z) born or raised under the 20-year rule of Erdoğan and his party. Also, nationalism is on the rise as a result of extreme Islamization and the effect of more than 10 million Arab refugees and illegal immigrants who came to the country. For this reason, there are many young Turks who turn to Tengrism, the old faith of our ancestors.
The vast majority of eligible Turkish voters will vote Erdogan to power under a false assumption that he's the perfect candidate in elevating Turkiye to greater heights economically and politically. However, Turkiye under Erdogan is on track at becoming another Iran and Pakistan is more real than apparent. Thank you Harris Sultan for highlighting your invaluable point.
Istanbul Turkey is different from Anatolian Turkey. Erdogan's support comes from the Anatolian heartlands and to stay in power he has to do as the Anatolians say. In a dusty village in Cappadocia Islam is the bed rock. Not beer and disco.
If you're trying to say he's with the Illuminati, isn't Islam even worse? Sorry Harris Sultan but as a Greek i can tell you that Erdogan surely pushes more into religious matters into the Turkish people but his opponents are nationalists and more fascists than Erdogan and his party. Have you seen lately the fascist speeches of Kemal Kilicdaroglu and his party about invading Greece since Erdogan is only threats and no actions, about what happened in Cyprus in 1974 and other matters like these? Here in Greece nobody likes Erdogan but i can ensure you that the people hope he stays as president just because they are afraid of Turkish nationalism with Kilicdaroglu and what will follow if he wins. Let me remind you that the Greek and Armenian genocides started out with the three Ottoman Pashas and were continued with the rise of nationalism of Kemal Ataturk. There is not always one side to see things which in your case is just religion, i thought as you said before that you are against nationalism but here i see you talking in favour of nationalists who like the Islamists also took part in horrible genocides of innocent people last century.

I have read most of your history books and I am shocked the level of HATE and indoctrination inside them towards Turkish people and Turkey! Even your National Anthem has words against Turkey. You are obsessively stick into history. You initiate the history by the Helenization period of Anatolia, Ageid, Cyprus etc, but when it comes to Turkification of same lands you began complaining about imperialism, invasion blah blah! so lets make a deal and leave the Anatolia to its "real" owners who are the Hitties and Luwians and Urartus before Greek invasion. Last words for the Cyprus; It was just a state of Ottomans for about 500 years like Texas to US. With the help of British,Texas became a free state, great, then decided to join Mexico, great, and finally begin to convert it a spanish land and begin the ethnic cleanization of Texian Americans(google Bloody Christmas in 1963 of Cyprus) After all when US conduct an operation to rescue the texian americans you begin to cry about invasion! Who is the invader, who invaded who's land, that's the question my brother..
Last point came to my mind that turn your argument invalid about the so called fascist speeches of Kemal Kilicdaroglu!! If Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was such an evil fascist then why the heck the leader of Kurdish Party Selahattin Demirtaş declared his support to him and called all Kurds to support him in his last twitter message! Just google the below since Yotube don't let me share a twitter link; "Imprisoned Kurdish political leader Selahattin Demirtas announced his support for Erdogan's opponent in the upcoming presidential election, calling him the "13th President of Turkey"Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu"

The Origin of Hijab Narrated 'Aisha: The wives of the Prophet used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqia at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. 'Umar used to say to the Prophet "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam'a the wife of the Prophet went out at 'Isha' time and she was a tall lady. 'Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed.
Actually, let people do what they want as long as they don’t force it upon others. That’s the main point. Extreme of anything is disastrous
Thank you for such an elaborate comment. I think I agree with most of not all of what you said.
@@HarrisSultanAtheistthat’s absolutely wrong what the guy stated above in his statement that the value of Lira improved with Erdrogan. Use the chart of Turkish Lira vs USD and see it for yourself it directly corresponds with the year Erdogan took over Turkish Lira has been falling. All the Turks I spoke to want him gone asap. I wish Somalia’s youth could also take inspiration from Turkey’s and Iran’s youth, protesting and demanding the government for long withstanding change. But most desire Erdogan and Islamic based societies even though that is majorly contributing to the societal and governmental destruction.
However it may be, good luck to Turkey! I’m supporting them in righteous democracy. More power to the people!
Next candidate is Bangladesh after Hasina government. This country will turn from secularism into Islamic Sharialand.😂
Hats off to you harris bhai. You are really a gem.

very good summary Harris. The election is over, but the concerns you raised are ongoing.

It is a shame that the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Latife Uşşaki is going to disappear little by little, until Turkey is another "Islamist Bastion" like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Somalia or Afghanistan.

It’s impossible bro. Pakistan is screwedd.
Great job Harris keep it up and take care. Hope the Turks do the right thing.

Ex president of turkey tansu ciller was western secular and Erdogan is Turkish secular
Salam barardar jan, you made me smile when you said that in Pakistan it was not so bad! I'll tell you it's the same thing! whether in Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan.... when politicians use religion to hide behind it because they know that the mullahs support them! power, money, prestige! It reminds me of the great Mughals... people seek peace! a job, a normal life without being forced to belong to a religion! free will is not there! when you showed the old photos, you had to explain why at the time women were free... still a story of politics behind... like the partition of certain countries... more politics! visionaries like Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, wanted a country at peace! and of course the extremists came and ended the peace! take care! Khoda Hafez!
100 years ago, there weren't many y fanatics.
I wish Islamic rule for Turkey! Currency devaluation and high inflation will take them to seventh century! Pakistan already on its way and their iron brother Turkey shouldn’t miss that bus!

Yes, Indonesia has undergone significant political changes after the reformation era of 1997 including Islamism, fundamentalism, wahhabism, and alike, but from my experience, it is generally improving especially in urban areas, and people are becoming tolerant even in Aceh.
Oh i didnt know about turkey😱
Are the Turkish people more religious now compared to 1990?
not at all.
Opposite of it
Almost same
Yeah
Good one
very true brother
True about Modi too
The vast majority of eligible Turkish voters will vote Erdogan to power under a false assumption that he's the perfect candidate in elevating Turkiye to greater heights economically and politically.

If they lose there will be a shortage of bedsheets and Curtains because all the women will be forced to wear them to cover their bodies.
Nice footage of attaturk , we can see him displaying the hidden hand . Interesting
What do you mean?
If you're trying to say he's with the Illuminati, isn't Islam even worse? It controls every single step of your life - how to eat, what to eat, how you sleep, how you poop, who you marry, what you question and even what to think - all this to avoid a punishment for what Allah forces you to do. That's some 1984 sh1t right there.

The ever-surprising world of politics.
Erdogan Will Anyway Going To Win Elections. But, You Have To Make Your Country Stronger Instead Of Wishing For A Good Leader To Come In Turkey.
Finally someone with whom I can agree with
man, first of first Kemal Kilicdaroglu is a social democrat and I have never heard him to make fascist speeches or invading Greece LOL!
Last point came to my mind that turn your argument invalid about the so called fascist speeches of Kemal Kilicdaroglu!! If Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was such an evil fascist then why the heck the leader of Kurdish Party Selahattin Demirtaş declared his support to him and called all Kurds to support him in his last twitter message! Just google the below since Yotube don't let me share a twitter link;
"Imprisoned Kurdish political leader Selahattin Demirtas announced his support for Erdogan's opponent in the upcoming presidential election, calling him the "13th President of Turkey"Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu"
Wrong image of Indonesia. It's far free and better than fascist asian places pak, india, etc, It has got better ranks in various indexes than others. I enjoyed my days in Jakarta, Yogyakarta some years back

The Origin of Hijab
Narrated 'Aisha:
The wives of the Prophet used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqia at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes). Reference: Bukhari 1.4.148 or Sahih al-Bukhari 146
One thing Islam does pretty well is scare the sh** out of everyone,
The current leader is undoing all the hard work done by Ataturk Mustafa Kemal Pasha to transform Turkey into a modern & secular country after the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
