  • Welcome to this special video! We are taking a closer look at the dealership converted TTE Turbo Toyota MR2 W3 (aka. MR2 Spyder, MR-S, ZZW30)!
    Toyota Team Europe designed a Turbo Kit for the NA 1ZZ-FED in the 3rd generation MR2, boosting the power to 184PS and 255NM! Only a few of them were built so this is a pretty rare conversion with waranty!

    Love this version of the car, invaluable. Saw one by chance at a jdm meet a few hours away and was suprised there even was one in Norway.

      That's why I decided to make this video! I felt like the car had no real international coverage at all! So I wanted to show more about it as I had the opportunity:)

    I had no idea this existed... so sad that this wasn't an option all around the world!

      I feel the same, somehow this car never really got much attention, which is why I did this video :)

    Wtf I have owned my MR-S for over a year and this is my first time hearing and seeing one 😮 These definitely wasn’t offered in either Japan or US. Amazing!

      Exactly, it was a Europe special and I think most of them were even built in Germany ✌🏼
      Glad I could spread some more information about our great little frog :D

    Awesome video man ! I wish I could find TTE parts here 😥 still great to see the knowledge about its existence. Thank you for sharing 👍🏽

    • @PlaneTMRS
      @PlaneTMRS  Рік тому +1

      Sadly it's even hard to find the parts here. Maybe some wing or wheels but nothing about the turbo kit. Because most of the converted cars stayed as garage cars and never got changed so there is no source for the parts :/

    Sehr cooles Video. Es ist ja schon selten genug überhaupt mal einen anderen MR2 auf der Straße zu treffen. Von einem TTE ganz zu schweigen.
    Generell wären Tests von unterschiedlichen MR-S-Varianten bzw. unterschiedlich modifizierten Fahrzeugen bestimmt ein interessantes Format für den Kanal.

    Ist das dein Neuer? Hab auch nen 2005er Facelift in genau der gleichen Farbe. Leider kein TTE 😢.
    Cooles, interessantes Video.
    Mach weiter so. Finde es als Mr2 Fan klasse wie du den MR2 feierst und mit Begeisterung für das Auto brennst. Deine Japan Videos fand ich immer sehr interessant. Ich liebe auch die Japanische Autokultur.
    Toller, kleiner Kanal. Mach weiter so.

    That MR-S in the Japanese clip has also got a TTE "banana" spoiler. Mine has got the same one and also a TTE exhaust (which is just a re-badged Remus) both fitted by a dealer. There were a lot of TTE goodies for this car available in Europe, overall facelifted Euro-spec cars are kinda sweet with a highway-friendly 6-speed manual and helical LSD being standard, glad to own one except for having to replace the engine due to oil burning issues.

    • @PlaneTMRS
      @PlaneTMRS  Рік тому +2

      That's true 👍🏼 TTE made many great rare parts for the MR-S in Europe! (Or resold them haha)
      however I think not every Facelift got the LSD. The one that I drove in the video clearly behaved like an open diff sadly. Any power and a slight corner lites up one tire :D

    • @Agu_Ra
      @Agu_Ra Рік тому

      @@PlaneTMRS hmm, everywhere I read, they say every Euro 6-speed manual has got an LSD. That's interesting! I wonder if helical LSDs have any perceptible reaction time.

    • @PlaneTMRS
      @PlaneTMRS  Рік тому

      @@Agu_Ra I've read that too but I can just speek from my experience :D of course, in the end I don't know if the helical might not be able to handle the torque but that would be pretty disappointing ;D

    • @Agu_Ra
      @Agu_Ra Рік тому

      @@PlaneTMRS pretty sure it should be able to, that's a simple mechanical device, no clutches to slip, if it was not able to handle the torque it would've blown up. Maybe all the "LSD as standard" came from the UK face-lift MR2 Roadster press release and isn't the case for all of Europe, who knows.

    • @PlaneTMRS
      @PlaneTMRS  Рік тому

      @@Agu_Ra I agree, I also don't see why it should not lock up at all

    Hi! I’ve got TTE turbo mr2 with all of TTE accessories (wheels, bumpers, style bar, side vents, spoiler, stickers ect) for sale in Poland.

      Wow that’s amazing! Sadly I’m not in Germany at the moment or I would have considered getting it ;D but if you really want to sell it, you can send me some details and I can show it to the German mr2 forum, I’m sure there are people who are interested!

  • @jamiemr2255
    @jamiemr2255 Рік тому +1

    That looks great and all mr’s should have been turbocharged or 2zz-ge from the factory.
    What size wheels is that on 👍

  • @B_-.-
    @B_-.- Рік тому +1

    Although a 2ZZ swap seems like the obvious choice for extra power, this is a tempting competitor.
    The noise is intoxicating, and the low end is probably far better than a 2ZZ. Reliability is bound to be impacted though.
    I managed to get a MR2 with the TTE catback and rollbar. The car was well priced - but it was 400 miles from me 😅 couldn't say no though, you basically can't get the parts anymore.
    I think the rollbar must help, the chassis feels very stiff between the two sides - much stiffer than between the two axles.
    The exhaust is imo the best sounding 1ZZ exhaust that exists. It has an obvious impact on the powerband too, it's much wider.

    • @PlaneTMRS
      @PlaneTMRS  Рік тому

      Thank you for your comment! I think the difference in between the TTE Turbo and the 2ZZ is ultimately the driving style. The 2ZZ only gains in power over the 1ZZ when you hit lift, which means you need to rev the engine completely. In comparison to that, the Turbo gives you a great boost in torque already above 2500/3000rpm
