    On plywood subfloors I wouldn't consider doing tile over tile due to the sheer weight you will have on that floor. Just asking for issues down the road if you ask me. Concrete floors i cover cracks with fabric and prime with eco prim grip and have never had an issue doing tile over tile and in some cases the added height corrects the elevation issues with adjacent flooring....but its rare.

    I would recommend paying extra for removal of flooring versus cutting all door and removing all baseboards and even more.

      You could use it but you could also mix 3x’s as much with a better THINSET

    Any suggestions for putting ceramic tile over linoleum or vinyl tiles? Great video. Thanks.

    • @OBFTILE
      @OBFTILE  3 роки тому +1

      Over linoleum if its well stuck, not bubbling up or coming up on the edges you should be good just use a modified thinset. Key it in on the floor the spread and backbutter tiles. I wouldn’t do it over vinyl tiles though gotta demo those
      Unless youre over plywood subfloor you can just screw 1/4” hardibacker over the vinyl tiles(usig thinset in between like a sandwich)

      @@OBFTILE Thank you so much. That helps me a lot. I think I'm in good shape to tile over them. They're in really good shape, I just want a change. I'll be tiling over ceramic tile in my bathroom as well. Thanks again.

      @@OBFTILE I don’t have room for hardi or ditra under a door so have to go over sticky stuff bcuz without a heat gun idk how it will come up. It’s over wood subfloor.. anyway does any allset work? They gave me the “Schluter” modified allset so curious if that’s good or go for more of a faster drying glue but I hate fast stuff. Tile cover my bathroom tile and no issues in 4 yrs

    I am wanting to go over a tile on my front porch that has no defects. No baseboards or doorways to worry about. It has one layer of tiles over a concrete substrate floor. My question, will any of the of the bonding primers you mentioned suffice for my project or do you recommend one over the other?
    Thank you for the video.

      Yes they should, I would try to contact your local mapei or laticrete rep so he can come out to your house and check it out so he can assure you or talk you out of it

    Anyone body use a steam mop on tiles? Over the past year I’ve been using a steam mop to mop the floor tiles and my grouting keeps coming off. Is this bc of the steam mop or is it a bad grouting job?

    • @rickblaine7463
      @rickblaine7463 2 роки тому

      Both in my experience but...mostly bad grout I would say

    You didn’t mention what mortar to use when tiling over tile?

    • @OBFTILE
      @OBFTILE  2 роки тому +1

      You can use any thinset appropriate for the tile youre installating. Those primers don’t specify a thinset kind to go over them
