I honestly can't tell you how much I've enjoyed watching you take this barely floating hull, and turn it into a functional, well built, machine again. I enjoy watching somebody who's truly skilled, with a can do attitude, get the job done.
Must have been quite satisfying for you to see that prop and rudder back in place all redone. When the engine is in and everything is all connected that will be another nice bit of satisfaction.
You won't regret getting the inflatable. They're so easy to haul on deck when towing isn't an option. Just one tip when towing the inflatable. I rigged a bridal from the rear handles along the sides and through the front D ring, to cut down the load on the the single D ring. When towing with the outboard on the transom, it will significantly increase the strain on that single front ring, and the bridal set up will take a lot of load off it. Loving your videos mate. Thanks for allowing us to share your journey.
I've really enjoying using the inflatable and I think it is going to be a great tender. Good tip about sharing the load so the front D doesn't get ripped out. That wouldn't be a great day.
If you want steering and maneuverability. You can always put a flap on it on the back like a a plane wing. They make a huge difference. All the crayfish boats have them here in nz.
I think i've watched too many dangar marine videos, cause stu just appeared in my dream. Only it was a more angry version of stu. He was angry because he just lost an auction on a bike that he was already starting to take apart. And he unleashed his fury on me the seller.
That is real progress! Starting to look like she's ready for sea. Oh yeah, I do have one of the same Tohatsu 6's , the sail version. But, it is crocked up now. I left it idling in a tub to flush it, but the tub had developed a hole so the water ran out. When I got back to it, the motor had seized. I can pull it through but the piston does not move freely. I wish I lived down under, so maybe I could get you to work on it. LOL
@@DangarMarine It is 5 years old and has between 40 and 50 hours on it. Maybe I'll get into it and see what I can find. I certainly can't make it any worse. Thanks for the advice.
Getting close to the finish line! Well, there's never really a "finish line" with boats, but that day when she's water worthy and ready _to sail_ is drawing nearer.
Great video, Stu. If you have time, how about a video of you taking the new inflatable out for a test ride. Thanks for the intro to Project Brupeg, have been binge watching the channel.
Hey Stu, love the channel! An old trick a grey haired man once told me, as a good 'marine grade' anti seize, mix black molly grease at 50% with roofing tar. The tar seals and water-proofs the item and the grease stops it from hardening......ever!! I have tried this and it works remarkably well. I'm a diesel fitter with about 30+ years as a tradesman, so have a bit of an idea about some stuff!! Good luck, keep up the good work.
Hi, Nice job, at 15:50 you can hear the rudder is binding, if it was me I would make the bottom bearing looser and the 4 holes bigger so you can situate the bearing so it does not bind, interesting to see how the propeller anti fouling will hold up.
It think that noise is paint and antifoul that has run into the bearing a little bit. I'm expecting it to free up pretty quickly given it is the original bearing and already a little worn.
Everyone knows the color red adds five knots to any boat . Stripes add fifteen more ! Don't over do it or the hull won't touch the water at full power . LOL Lookin' great Brother ! And glad to see yall still happy !
Stu this thing looks fucking amazing! And you’re not even done. I bet the owner wants his vessel back 😂 You’re the man! You give me hope in any boat with a little hard work my man!
Hi Stu, Just an observation. When I installed the rudder on my 45ft narrow boat, I dropped three 1/4" loose ball bearings in the cup so that the rudder post sat on them and the "rolling resistance" was reduced. I am not suggesting you take it all apart again to do this, but it certainly made life easier at the helm.
I’m glad I saw you wearing eye protection when you were cleaning up the prop with the grinder. I cringe when you don’t. Personal experience. Fantastic progress! You inspire us weekend warriors.👍
@Happy McJoyjoy He did but he had a 5:00 shadow by 10:00am!!! I was in the military with a poor guy like that, they made him shave twice a day in basic training.
They threw me into rehab this week when they found out I'd bought another boat. Sorry Stu, but when they grilled me as to why I had fallen so far backwards into my horrible boat affliction, I blamed it all on you. Now I must be very careful in here lest they find me watching your videos, but I do so enjoy them. Thanks buddy, oh, I mean mate.
Good video. You are a working machine! I suggest consider moving the sacrifical zinc on the rudder. The current position is in the area of maximum water flow from the prop. Maybe move it to the top or bottom of the rudder where the water flow will be less disrupted by the zinc. Best regards, Greg
Hi Stu, Nice work she is going along beautifully. Just an Idea for all the panels and add ones in the engine bay and anywhere on the troller- rubber mount anything you can that's not welded on, it will help reduce vibration noise.
Best birthday present I could have hoped for, a new Dangar Marine video. Three hours, 10k views, I remember not too long ago, when you had 10 subscribers. Continued success, to one of my favorite tubers.
Had not heard of Prop Shield before. I know people who use to paint their props with bottom paint. Be interested to see how it works. Yeah, Red Dwarf! Now Cat and Lister need to show up!
Well Stu it's getting closer and closer everyone's getting more excited can't wait to see it done I'm sure you can't either... Before I forget and I will mention this again when you install the engine make sure you have a system in there to kill the air into the engine to stop a runaway that happened to me it was the scariest thing ever when you have a diesel Full Throttle and you can't stop it and you have to open the hatch and you're afraid it's going to blow a piston or the blower what happened to me this spring broke controlled the throttle anyway take care my friend
My Capt on the tug used to say "my stern gland is leaking" whenever he ripped a fart...kind of got stuck in my head...so I still giggle when I hear the term.
When you were carrying the "Red Dwarf" on your back to the water, all I could think of was the pioneeer aviators with their wings strapped on, about to leap off the high ground. Wishing you a soft landing and a water tight hull.
Heading on our annual RV trip down south. Going to do a couple of on location videos down there for a change up. It's so beautiful not to. I'll have some in the can to load when I get back. Will keep checking on your next one too
Stu, Just wanted to say how entertaining your channel is for me. I find that most channels I watch go for the money around 100k subs. Good to see your content is still entertaining. Buy USA lol
I love that it is starting to come together. The wood is looking great, The camshaft defo needed to be changed, that was a lot of pitting. I was totally gutted that you didn't have the tripod to show the prop shaft going in. The prop looks awesome, thanks for showing that process. And the Red Dwarf launch was epically celebrated by the pelicans. Great video, and the haircut to boot :)

Great work as usual Stu. The propeller was a faf though. Haven't used a wax like substance like that since I used to go skiing, and I don't mean water skiing!
Not a criticism, but I think you should do some kind of pre-emptive reinforcement of Red Dwarf’s D ring where the painter is attached. That is a really high stress area on a dink like this. Either that or rig a bridle and avoid the D ring altogether.
I honestly can't tell you how much I've enjoyed watching you take this barely floating hull, and turn it into a functional, well built, machine again. I enjoy watching somebody who's truly skilled, with a can do attitude, get the job done.

Yes, having bits going in rather than coming out feels much better.

It is good seeing stuff go back on permanently. That was a chorus of approval from the pelicans on the launch of Red Dwarf.
They probably think I'm providing a new toilet for them! :O
Forget all the boat stuff. Now I know how the filmmakers create those creepy swamp scenes with the bubbling steamy water!
always click on your videos as soon as they pop up cant wait to see the finished product
You're totally right, man. This project is really lookin great, isn't it?
Thanks Mike!
Same here been watching from the start well done on what you have done so fair
Me too, I wonder how much he's got into her so far? Looks like he can make a little go a long ways.
I just found watching Stu building this trawler so relaxing
Had to watch this again in order to get my weekly Dangar Marine fix satisfied.

Yes, keen to give that a go after a while so I can compare the difference.

By the looks of it's my guess is he will be running it back and forth to the trawler from the Island
Yes, will definitely be out for a ride in the inflatable soon!
Glad to see the D71 again.
No celebrating the prop going in!. I was all ready to watch that. Cold beer and all. I was diddled!

Cool, I'll give it a try. :)

Keep the GREAT WORK coming!
WHO knew that building a trawler took SO MUCH effort.
I certainly didn't!
Stu ,those little Tohatsu motors are superb, had three of their engine's in the family now and will not be changing .
I still got my -82 Yamaha
Mate, the pelicans weren't complaining, they were celebrating the launch... ;-}
That was Pelican for “Hooray!” ;)
Man those guys did a really nice job on that Detroit Diesel! It's nice to see high-quality work!
They sure did, can't wait to get the engine back now.
Good job getting that shaft to slide up into the tube using the dry ice. I bet that ...ahem...soda pop was chilled properly as well...

Love the shaft install technique with the dry ice Stu.

I like that idea. It's only a five minute job to get the rudder out and in again, I might look into doing something like that.
that does sound like a cool idea
I’m glad I saw you wearing eye protection when you were
cleaning up the prop with the grinder.

Very inspiring to see all your hard work you put into this boat man, its looking real good.
Thanks mate. :)
another great video.....Dang !....Can hardly wait for the next one. Please make them longer
Yes, lost a bit of footage this week due to camera problems.
Thanks Stu i had something to watch on a cold wintery night here in Melbourne cheers.
Cold? Your average winter temperature in Melbourne is the same as the average in the hight of summer here :D

Yes, just can't use ordinary hull antifoul.
"Dane Gar" gotta love the Aussie accent. And dry ice is Co2 no worries on pollution. Those big truck trains in aussie pump out a lot more Co2
