  • Welcome everyone to my review of the third generation Nissan Qashqai.
Apologies for the sound quality as the wind was a little blowly!
Back in 2007, the Nissan Qashqai started a revolution in the SUV segment by creating the family SUV. Giving buyers a choice from the traditional family hatchback to the family SUV. Everyone now wants to feel like they're sat in a high riding suv like a Range Rover.
What is this third generation like?
Stick with me to find out.

I have lived with my Nissan Qashqai Tekna+ for just over a year now. I can honestly say it has been a real joy. I have done over 12,000 miles and everyone of those miles have been comfortable and enjoyable. I have never felt it wanting on power and performance. My best return on MPG was 51. That was on a 40 mile journey. Obviously, if you have a heavy right foot, can expect an average of around 40 mpg, perhaps even lower around town. I think that is the same with all ICE petrol cars. When it comes to motorway driving, just set the pro pilot and relax. The Qashqai really looks after you. I have the 20 inch alloys and the multi link suspension. The only time it gets a little fidgety is when you are going slow over a particularly rough surface. However, it is never uncomfortable. When it comes to handling, it is very poised and a great deal of fun on twisty roads. I keep the weight of my steering in sport mode, rather than Auto. It gives just enough weight and feel, and unless you are very feeble, it is perfectly adequate even around town. Even after a year of reasonable use. Everything still looks fresh and new. I imagine after a good valet, it would look brand-new. Because of the 360 cameras. The chances of curbing the 20in wheels is very slim. I have found the cameras invaluable and wondered how I got on without them in the past. Although it is quite a big car, it doesn’t feel it, when it comes to finding parking spaces it can fit into. So in conclusion, is it worth the money? Considering what you get, especially in the Tekna+ Specification. Yes it is, compared to its premium rivals, that will charge you an arm and a leg for all the options the Tekna+ has, on top of its initial purchase price, which undoubtedly will be higher in the first place. Also it is as close as an all British car, as you can buy these days. Yes, it is a Japanese company. But the Qashqai was designed, developed and built in the UK. It really is a very solid unit. Nothing has come loose, so still no squeaks or rattles. Everything, including the technology has worked flawlessly for me. I am 65 and have had many cars, even premium makes. I can honestly say, my Qashqai Is by far the best I have ever owned.

I guess the 19" wheels would have mellowed the comfort experience (as they did for me). One part I was missing in the review was the wind-screen diplay functions (which are awsome: Speed Signs, Calls, Music, Navigation directives, ProPilot state) especially along with ProPilot functions: Really impressed me. But ... really... greate review! Keep on.

Great review Dave, one of the best I have seen - I am about to pickup my new 2022 Qashqai in New Zealand near the end of October - The Qashqai's for Oceania are made in Japan, I am getting what is marketed here as the ST-L version, mid range - Have to say reviews like your have helped me in my decision, although having owned a 2019 2nd generation Qashqai that I was very happy with, I hope I don't expect too much - The improved technology is something I am looking forward too -

I went to my local Nissan dealer a few weeks ago and they said the old model will continue to 2023. Sad to not be able to see and drive this in person here. Perhaps in 2024? The Cross is going to destroy Nissan and Honda even with their new HRV which is larger than your version and has only 159 hp. Its built on the Civic platform and heavier.

I recently had a test drive in this new Tekna+, and currently have a 16 plate Qashqai Tekna. I think the way Nissan have changed things up in this version works for me, especially the HUD. I feel very lucky to be able to afford one and plan on getting the front of the car wrapped in paint protection film (PPF). Where I live the rural roads are terrible for stone chips and the paint on the front of my 16 plate Qashqai is very thin and show the battle scars. My previous cars (the last one listed first) were a 65 plate Fiesta S, Toyota iQ and an automatic 2.0 petrol Mondeo, thirsty. My days of being able to climb into a 'car' set low down are gone, at least without some pain, the very reason I bought our first Qashqai. Great video Dave, first one of yours I watched, and subscribed.

What would be the benefit of changing my Lexus NX 300h for this?

    • @BobH809
      @BobH809 Рік тому

@@attilab.2818 Well, that would be for you to decide. I think if I had the NX 300h I wouldn't get another type of car. When you like something, you like it, why change. That's why I stuck with what I know is what I like. I looked into the Lexus because I wanted a better car than the J11 (2016 version) Qashqai. However, as the increase in tech and quality caught my attention in the new Qashqai (apparently Mercedes helped out on that score), I just wanted one. It's familiar to me, it had most of what I was looking for in a car, for that money. The new NX 300h is better than the last one, as you would expect, but I couldn't afford a new one so I spent little time looking at it. Each car is Japanese, so reliability, they build great quality into their cars, now more than ever which is why I chose the Qashqai. Take a look at the kit list for the Tekna+, see what is different between the Lexus and the Nissan, aside from price. You might be surprised.

I’m going to trade my Mk 2 N-Connecta for a new 2023 Mk 3 Tekna. Ps I wouldn’t recommend a diesel/manual, I found petrol/auto are the very very best model to go for ❤😊

Point on review...after a Passat B8, C Class with Airmatic and Seat Leon with DCC, I think the suspension/comfort is better on the Nissan...not as good as some, but still really good...especially compared to the C Class we had with Air suspension, which really have been a dud...or the über hard Passat.. or the loud and rattling DCC of the Leon. I absolutely enjoy the relaxed drive of the Qashqai every day. Also the interior is great...not Audi quality but less teutonic and sober as some vw group rivals, and just a friendly relaxing place. The use of physical buttons for e.g. the climate control is a huge plus point compared to other rivals.

I have just ordered the new Nissan Qashqai Tekna +, with the new 12 inch infotainment screen. You can now order a normal Tekna, with the Bose sound system. So you can get smaller 19in alloys. However you don't get the multi link suspension on the rear, as you do with the Tekna +. You of course can buy smaller alloys if you wish. The car I test drove felt very smooth and quiet to drive even on the large 20-inch wheels. Might be a different story on a rough country road though.

@@attilab.2818 Probably no benefit in changing your Lexus for a Nissan Qashqai. But if it was a toss up between buying a Lexus or a Qashqai. You would certainly get more bang for your buck‘s with a Qashqai. Especially the top spec version. The Tekna+ Has all the features found on the Lexus top of the range model, but at a fraction of the price. I have found the build quality to be excellent, as well as the level of comfort and refinement.

That's not what coasting means. Coasting is when you disengage the gears, either by pushing down the clutch in a manual or putting an automatic into neutral, whilst moving. It causes an enormous loss of control, which is why it's advised against and will cause a failure if you do it during a driving test. Letting off the gas when you've reached your desired speed is just a normal part of driving.

      Hi there Raj.
It depends on the type of petrol engine and the size of the car it’s powering. You can get frugal cars out there.
There was no need for the dislike Raj. Have a great day.

@@AutoBears yeh the smaller the engine the more frugal, infact it doesn't matter about the engine being frugal is all about the driver. In my 1.6d 48v Sportage I have managed 60mpg and in the forum's everyone says I'm a lair means I'm just a better driver than everyone else.

@@rajindernijjer very true. How you drive the car is a reflection on the economy figures.
60 is respectable in the sportage.

@@rajindernijjer Hate to piss on your parade, but just because you're achieving 60 mpg doesn't mean you're a "better" driver. Unless you're talking specifically about your eco driving skills. Which by the way is not how this came across.

@@stuontwo677 oh that's funny because there's a event for eco driving and guess who used to win it always yes Micheal shoemaker he didn't win it either because he's a better driver.

Don't forget to remind everyone that some / most of the extras you're talking about are specific to the Tecna plus. The model most will not buy, they'll go for the N Connecta.
