I had this "Raju Biryani" and the so called "Fried Piece Biryani" when I was last there in Hyderabad. These two are biggest ripoff menu items on the market. I ate in 3 different places and they all tasted different! Raju's Biryani is not a biryani - it is basically a pulao where they have stolen the techniques of pulao making and just replaced the rice with a local variety called "Chitti Mutyalu" and are marketing it as a new "Royal" product. Note that this also a great strategy to increase the sale of their local variety of rice. Fried piece Biryani is another such ripoff. We are served some fried pieces of chicken (Kodi vepudu) on a Veg pulao and are expected to believe it is a Biryani. They have just stolen the name Biryani and are putting it on every rice dish they can come up with and are marketing it as an innovative dish. Yes, I have heard but not eaten the Avakaya, Gongura and Ulavacharu and Vijawada Biryanis too!! And it's not that they have invented a new dish. Oh no! That's too much of trouble and innovation! They simply throw the original dishes together like mixing Pachadi with Biryani rice and serving. They are simply assassinating the legendary Avakaya Pachadi and the Biryanis both at once! And because these dishes are dished out for the sole purpose of cashing in on the Hyderabadi Biryani craze they are prepared without much thought or standards so they taste drastically different from each place. Bagarannam or regular Annam with Kodi Kura or Mamsam Kura is better any day than these junk Biryanis. Sorry for the rant.
