@HmR91 Reid can read 20 000 words a minute and an average book is about 80 000 to 120 000 words long, so it would take him 4 to 6 minutes to read it, plus the buying time. Wow, I cannot believe I just researched that :P I really need a life. Or rather, I really need to stop putting off writing my music essay :D I agree though, Reid is DEFINITELY the best.
@HmR91 Nothing is impossible for Reid. Besides, I figure he meant 10 minutes to find the book in the store, start reading it, get in line at the cashier -while still reading- and by the time he pays for it and walk out the door, the 10 minutes are up and he's done reading it.
Put together. Reid canonically reads at 20,000 words per minute, the average book is about 100,000 words long, so reading it would take him 5 minutes, giving him 5 minutes to find it in the bookstore.
Ok, with Reid being able to process 20 000 words per minute, let's break this down: 20000/60=333 words per second. With a page of a novel being roughly 300 words, that would make about 2 seconds per double page, including page-flipping. Google says that empty planet has 304 pages. Skipping over the table of contents, etc. that would make 300, and 150 double pages. 150*2 is 300 again. And 300/60 is 5 minutes. So if he manages to locate and buy empty planet within 5 minutes, and then reads it as fast as he possibly can, he might cut it in 10 minutes.
@wanderer7in7blue but still, he needs to leave the building, find a book store, find the book and pay it and turn over the pages and actually read. it cant just take 10minutes. its impossible.
Nobody can Read a book in 10minutes. Even the time it would take to turn over the pages would take more than ten minutes, nevermind the time it takes to go to the bookstore, find the book and than actually buy it. But still, I loooove Reid. Hes the best!
While I love Reid his character is just ridiculously unbelievable. Tesla couldn't read at the speed they attribute to Reid and he's recognized as one of, if not the, smartest people in history (recent or otherwise). I'm a fairly fast reader myself, but I can only read approximately 400-500 words a minute (depending on complexity and length of the language in question). The way Reid is written he could actually qualify as a form of superhuman that wouldn't be out of place in a sci-fi or fantasy series (Spencer Reid as the READER or BRAIN or some other silly superhero name relating to intellect).
I don’t know why this was reccd to me out of the blue lol not to burst anyone’s bubble, but Reid’s ability to read 20,000 words a minute is physically impossible. Even people who claim to read more than 1000 words per minute do so with a hit to comprehension. Few people are capable of truly reading at that speed. The fastest reader I know reads ~950 words a minute for academic texts and research papers, and about 1050 words a minute for pleasure reading.
I love how when Reid said "Both actually." Morgan just stopped like "I'm done."
If I could read that fast I'd probably spend all my time at the library.
You'd be like a supa computa
Bruh same. I WISH I could read that fast
He does read 5 books a day 😬
Probably why it’s not surprising he knows so much general knowledge and even pop culture

xD
Imagine him as a kid with a library card. He sure got his moneys worth he probably read 40-50 books a day.

I’ll probably just read it in about 5-6 minutes and leave. Why pay for it? 🤷🏿♂️😅😅
@@becks23mt Cause that would be stealing
@@DeathnoteBB I never said i will take it with me. You don’t read much i am guessing …
@@becks23mt …it’s still stealing. Like pirating a movie. People will get mad at you if you just sit there and read their merchandise without paying
@@DeathnoteBB NO ONE will expect you to read a WHOLE book in 5 minutes. Don’t worry mr. honest.
Real question is this, put together or as separate events?
I know it’s late but this is all part of one scene

Reid never stops impressing Morgan.
Love how Reid completely ignored Morgan's comment 😂

God I wish I could be like reid he can read a book in 10 minutes I cant even finish reading a book :( !!!!
Of course XD
I was on one at 5 and ended up fracturing 2 bones in my wrist.
Morgan had a bigwheel?

@QueenManaOfEgypt well, okay, fair enough.
Me too!

It is explained that he doesn’t actually read every word. His subconscious picks up the rest and he can recall it all. That’s the genius part.
