Had this game when I was a kid it inspired me to play outside instead.
Outside? What platform is that on?
@@Shibanu_ It was on the Super-Touchgrass 400, but that only came out in Japan :P
lmfao, that's certainly one way to avoid it ANY WAY YOU CAN
@@Shibanu_windows PC and steam 😂
Ouch, and ?your welcome? Once the internet comes you will only have fresh air when going for Taco Bell. 🤥😬🤩
Skip this and go for Robocop Vs Terminator. Better yet, get Rogue City.
Or even seek out the arcade original.
Was gonna suggest this. Robocop vs Terminator had more fluid controls and movement. It was a vast improvement from Robocop 3.
RogueCity is the game I wished for as a kid.
Or play it on Megadrive
PC version of Robocop 3 is pretty good. Sort of a primitive FPS with 3D graphics.
Had this as one of the first SNES games I got as a kid - could never get off the first level, and ended up trading it in for Shadowrun. Best trade I ever did.
At least Ocean ALWAYS delivers in the music department, their composer went HARD
On C64 their music composers were some of the best. Check out any of the "Ocean Loader" themes.
Jurassic Park NES soundtrack is phenomenal
The Game Boy Robocop theme is downright famous.
The C64 title theme of Robocop 1 made me think about my past choices in life.
Shame the people actually making the game didn't.
Fun fact: RoboCop 3 was stuck in release hell because Orion Pictures was in the midst of bankruptcy (hence why the game came out first). The film's release was delayed again because Orion (having gotten out of bankruptcy) couldn't find enough distributors for a wide release of the film.
Sick PFP. Someone has good taste in Metal.
Am I right in remembering that they shot 3 either simultaneously with 2, or back to back with it? And then 2 did okay but nowhere near as well as the original, though I don't know if that had anything to do with the bankruptcy.
@@esmerylan Not shot back to back, but pretty close. Orion had greenlit another two films after RoboCop 2, but they had piled up losses from box office flops before production began on RoboCop 3.
Kind of funny considering the same thing happened to Omni Consumer Products in the film.
You get a like for the Mercyful Fate pic.
Honestly, I'd just prefer to play ESWAT: City Under Siege
Game just slaps and has an amazing soundtrack
I remember going to Blockbuster and seeing this on the shelf wondering "Wait, there's a Robocop 3? And why does he have a jetpack???" Figured it was one like 'Goonies 2' being a game-only sequel. This was one of those 'one and done' deals- never got passed the first level and I never revisited it. Weekend ruined.
And it turns out it has a jetpack in the actual movie.
If you’ve never seen it RoboCop 3 is great, if you like “so bad it’s good” movies (emphasis on the bad)
My mom bought me this, it's the classic case of moms blindly buying games based on a recognizable IP/franchise. I agree it is frickin hard, Robocop does not lose health when he touches bad guys, but he continously loses health when a rat touches him. I'm proud to say I finished it. You are correct, inching slowly is the strategy and saving weapons for specific bosses and sections is key
I think this was a game I rented as a kid. If not this, a different Robocop game. Didn't care for it, but I will say I'm impressed at how well they captured the way Robocop is extremely vulnerable to small arms fire, just like in the movies. Dudes with pistols CONSTANTLY take him out.
🤣🤣🤣

I think Robocop 3 on NES is good. It's a very short game but the sprite work is good, the music is great and there are secrets in the game as well as a couple of cool boss fights. Also a satisfying repairing and weapon upgrade mechanic. It loosely follows the story of the movie.
Was there an NES version of Robocop 3? Was it as good as Robocop, the original NES game? I liked that one a lot.
I’m with you. RoboCop 3 on NES is pretty cool.
I'm with you! That title music by Jeroen Tel is probably my one favorite piece of video game music ever. Up there with the Mario theme by Konji Kondo, no less. Jeroen Tel also did an amazing and moody soundtrack for Alien 3 on NES, too.
And I actually liked Robocop 2 on NES, it had many many secrets, many levels and nice music, too (not by Tel, though). It was very tough, but I was able to beat it on real hardware with no save states when I was a kid. Cool game.
I'm with you. It's a flawed game, but it's decent for what it is. It's way better than NES Robocop 2, and it's way better than the Super NES and Genesis versions of Robocop 3!
My first game I ever had. I was undeterred. Finally beat it after twenty years
Time well spent 😅
This game had so many copies at the convention I just went to and I passed on it. Needless to say I didn't think I would see a review that confirmed why I didn't get it (other than the price being high)
It took literal decades, but we finally got a GOOD Robocop game in Rogue City! Growing up, I was a HUGE Robocop fan, because I watched it way before I likely should have, lol. And I played all the duds. Was refreshing to finally get the Robocop game we deserve.
To be fair, "RoboCop Versus The Terminator" for the Sega Genesis was awesome. 😎👍
Volgarr the Viking is a good example of this style of game done right
Edit: I mean a game where you're gonna die a ton and just hope to get a little further the next time.
Or Ninja warriors
Volgart was inspired by Rastan Saga.
I remember renting this and robocop vs Terminator the same weekend. Needless to say, I think Robocop 3 saw the inside of my SNES for about an hour that entire weekend.
I remember my mom buying this for me when I was a kid. It was awful, couldn't make it past the second level. Everything about it sucked. But my mom thought I'd dig it. Miss you mom, thanks for the games
Dang. That hits hard bro
I think I'm the one guy on Earth who always loved Robocop 3 the movie. Mostly for the same reason I love Escape From L.A. more than Escape From New York. They're just so over the top and unapologetic about it that I can't help but love it. Seeing Robocop flying on a Jetpack after fighting Ninja Robots or Snake Plissken surfing a tsunami after battling for his life playing basketball just puts a smile on my face. Games like this on the other hand do not.
Kind of like Conan the Destroyer
@@MentalLiberation Exactly! It's just over the top fun. I mean who isn't grinning like a fool when the Wizards fight each other.
@SciFiDude79 That and they got someone else to play Robocop. Those are the only legitimate criticisms.
The top-down shooter footage reminds me of Banpresto's Mazinger Z arcade game.
I’m old enough to remember the ZX Spectrum port of the RoboCop arcade game Ocean did.
Wasn’t old enough to play it at the time but it was HUGE! I think they rode that success for a good while.
We got the SNES Jurassic Park out of them at least, and I got a soft spot for their Amiga games of Batman and The Untouchables
yeah, the speccy version of RoboCop was the best selling game of 1989, and stayed in the top 5 for the system from December 1988 through to February 1991, and i think the only reason it wasn't there longer is because they stopped printing the sales charts for the ZX Spectrum at that time. that game was MASSIVE
Robocop was initially a huge hit on ZX Spectrum, not the NES. Ocean were also involved in licenses before that game, with several truly awful licensed games released beforehand.
If I haven’t took you recently, you’re the best. I love and watch all your vids ☺️
I must be the odd man out, because I've never hated the movie. Yeah, it pales in comparison to the other two, but it's got some fun moments. The Otomo robots in particular are super cool and it's got some good action sequences. It ain't great, but it's solidly average. There were just too many good movies overall that year, and it really looks bad in comparison.
The PG-13 rating really hurt it. There's a lot of good ideas in it that could have worked much better if it wasn't so tonally different from the first two.
The movie’s not ALL bad. E.g., the donut shop bit. “What’s it like being a rocket scientist?”
It’s the first movie in the series to ask “If he’s a robot, shouldnt he have some kind of robot-like upgrades? I know he can pull his pistol out of his leg, but what about a machine gun arm or a flamethrower or jetpack?” This, I say, is absolutely the correct instinct.
Murphy died for this.
Thank you for your hard work snes drunk your the best, please keep it up !! How about an updated favs list from you ?
Imagine what we could have enjoyed if all those Ocean IP's had been in the hands of Capcom or Konami instead.. a Konami Robocop game would have been insane fun.
The two arcade games were done by Data East, they were fantastic.
Long time fan! Thanks for the awesome content. I'm curious if you are able to (or bother) to beat most of the games you review? Thanks and have a great day.
I havent had time enough to watch snes drunk, but still one of my favourite channels
Robocop vs terminator for genesis was better
I love love that game. It's Nintendo hard me and my brothers still can't beat it and we all over 40 years old 🤣
The Genesis version of Robocop 3 is better as well. Robocop moves faster, improves horizontal screen real estate, and a difficulty option was added.
4:06 Thanks a lot, just happen to be going to the dentist tomorrow
SNESdrunk! Longtime fan, here. Have been watching your videos for years. I really appreciate your passion for oldschool video games, it feels very authentic and as such is quite contagious, hah. You've also got a hell of an ear for cool chiptune compositions, I really appreciate those playlists.
But on the subject of licensed games, a rental of Terminator 2 Judgement Day ruined one of my weekends so hard as a kid, that I didn't touch a single licensed game until Spiderman for the PS2. Dear god what a turd. Robocop 3 at least seems marginally better than that mountain of excrement.
You need to cover the arcade hack of the NES forst game. It is absolutely phenomenal, literally very close to the arcade but with much less slowdown.
4:23 They actually improved the Genesis version. Robocop moves considerably faster. They added a difficulty option, increased horizontal screen real estate, and they took out the annoying sound effect of Robocop walking.
they also fixed the floaty jump
@attackmode0379 Yes, my bad for missing that point 👍
Total length of video: 295 secs.
Total length of "SNES Drunk": 2.5 secs.
.85% of the video was spent listening to "SNES Drunk".
I need at least 5% to feel anything anymore 😢
Thanks, Rain Man!
I’ve somehow never played robocop 3 on snes but I was about as a kid to play Batman on the Amstrad, speccy, c64 & Amiga. Great game!
I was always curious about trying this one coz no one ever talked about it, especially after the new game
Thanx for saving me the trouble!
Always frustrated me they didn't port the Amiga version of the game to SNES, as that was amazing!
I remember this being one of the most disappointing rentals in my childhood. And there were quite a few but Robocop 3 is way up there.
I even remember my brother saying "Don't you dare rent that game again." Funny how little details like that stick in your mind after 30 years, so that's when you know it made an impression.
Looks really similar to the Robocop Arcade game. I love that game.
one of my childhood's nightmares.. with gremlins 2 on game boy..
never reached the 1st boss if there's any.. don't know..
the contrary of fun.
Dude all the best to your channel! Very professional and great presentation! Good luck!
I remember renting this one from my local Blockbuster a couple of times back in the day. Never made it past the first stage, though.
Robocop vs Terminator is still decent, especially if you play it any way you can. I played Rogue City last christmas and enjoyed it, too. It's fun and really makes you feel powerful, like you're Robocop blasting through all these weak thugs in Detroit.
Love Ocean games
Wow, a glutton for punishment AND mediocrity!
I would NOT buy that for a dollar!
The Addams Family on SNES was fun! It was FUN! It felt like the movie as a platformer! The fact that it had frustrating sections and slightly squirrely play control is entirely beside the point! Its flaws did not prevent me from enjoying it from start to end, the soundtrack was replete with bangers, and darn it, it was FUN!
Damn! The music at the end of the video sounds killer, though. 🤘😄🎸
It is clunky but I really enjoy the game. Hired it from local video shop in the day and last year bought it and then submitted a 1CC WR on PAL to TG: 378,105
0:36 - 0:38 That was late 1993, so firmly within the mid-1990s range.
I could swear I had player Robocop vs Terminator when I was younger and I thought it was crap for years but only now I noticed it was this game instead. So frustrating. Concerning the NES games I used to enjoy the first one (plus it had a cool chiptune from the classic theme), but the second one annoyed me a lot because of the way Robocop moves - he sort of "accelerates" while walking and when you change directions it feels like he's on a soapy surface. So bizarre. Cool video as usual
Robocop 3 was going to come out in 1992, but it got pushed back to due to the studio going under. Robocop 3 was turn into a family film to save Orion Pictures. The film does feel like a big toy commercial at times.
Ocean we're awesome in the zx spectrum days, they were known for being quality
I can't be the only one who unironically likes the Robocop 3 movie, right? I loved it as a kid, it had Robocop flying, it had robot ninjas, it had a battle in the streets between the cops and the criminals, I have fond memories of watching that movie.
The Amiga/ST/PC version by "Digital Image Design" (also published by OCEAN) was great; that game powered by te "superFX" snes chip would have awesome...
I always assumed the game was broken as I couldn't seem to find a way to damage the first stage boss. The only SNES game I owned that I never played the entire way through.
I don't know what was worse, the movie or the game.
me at 2:20 literally out loud "What the fuck is that thing?!"
Love the major chord snes drunk
In case anyone wants to know who beat this game. Its me. Yes it took a lot of trial and error but keep in mind that's a lot of games in that time.
I actually like this game.. legit
wow.... i actually had fun with this and untouchables
I didn't even know there was a Robocop 3 on the SNES/Gen!! Oh well, at least I know about the wonderful game that is Rogue City!
When it comes to RoboCop you basically have 2 options:
-RoboCop vs Terminator (Genesis)
-RogueCity
That's it.
least Waterworld had that music
Don’t forget super widget. I actually loved that game as a child. But I was also a fan of the cartoon.
I don't really want to drink beer out of a coffee mug, but I'm considering it now that I see you have some for sale. 😀
Wish 'By GAWD ITS STING!" made a cameo in this game. IYKYK.
Best thing about the game was the music. The them song gets played in clubs
Ocean, the only thing I liked they made was Theme Park
The main problems with the robocop games is that he is supposed to be impervious to small arms and small thugs. VS terminators made sense though since it s a more even matchup.
The city of Detroit was a paradise, but something happened… coincidentally right after this game was released.
Hm…
Robocop vs Terminator on Sega Genesis is outstanding.
Ocean Software released arcade ports and original games before moving into movie licensed games. I'd definitely give those early arcade ports a look if you're wondering how the hell these guys were able to get the standing they did. They did have some very talented coders with them, but you were more likely to find them on places like the ZX Spectrum rather than the NES.
The weird thing is a lot of their titles on the microcomputers are often WAY better than anything they put on consoles and not just in a 'this doesn't translate to console' way. Lethal Weapon is a very good example of the quality discrepancy between computer and console. The Amiga and SNES games are very comparable at a base level but while the Amiga game has brutal but generally well thought out level design and tight controls, the SNES game is a slippery mess with level design that is far more aggravating. This isn't a hard and fast rule, there are some pretty colossal stinkers on the computers as well (*cough* Highlander *cough*), but there are definitely more good games to offset them. I have no clue why but this isn't just limited to Ocean. There were a lot of games that just, frankly, were best played on the Amiga or something rather than their console "ports".
Waterworld's music punched way above it's weight, I'd class it as a top ten SNES soundtrack.
I don't remember that mecha-devil boss or whatever from the films.
I don't know if you've done it yet, but could you make "every game made by ocean on SNES/Genesis" video?
When i think of ocean i think of the c64. They made great games for that system.
Ah, more PTSD time 😂 I remember this game's first level just because I couldn't get past from it. Thanks SDrunk 😅
I loved the untouchables. Had it for the C64
I like Oceans Addams Family on SNES.
I remember kinda liking the NES version when I rented it.
3:35 this is what the Rocketeer should have been like.....lol you should do a review of the Rocketeer for the SNES.
The best is this game was listed for like $79.99!! It was insane
There was a Game Gear version I remember being just as brutal, except it's on Game Gear.
Today I learned that someone had the most bizarre idea for writing a book.
And that person delivered.
I found a good deal on ebay for a boxed version...
now I don't have to buy it!
Thanks SNES drunk! You've saved me money on yet another occasion
The only good thing about a Robocop 3 videogame is the NES ones opening theme... It was pretty badass.
Have you done Robocop vs Terminator? I remember wanting that game so badly, getting it and beating it fairly quickly but I can’t remember if it was any good.
Feels like this could have been a great arcade game on a proper arcade platform, had Street Fighter 2 not been a thing
I'm going to search for speed runs for this game. Seems like they'd be pretty unique.
The other day I was playing this and wondering if you would actually reviewed it and lo and behold it pops up today
Rogue City is amazing
Ocean games always had sick music tho
Oh, gawd I remember this one renting it at the local Blockbuster. I got through the first stage and the game broke me after that.
3:46 cant fool me.. thats crystal lake 😂😂😂
Thanks!
Ah yes, I look forward to these videos
I played it on sega Genesis and it was fun .
Good review! Were there any good Robocop games? The franchise seems like it would lend itself perfectly to a fun run-and-run like Contra! Maybe if Konami or Capcom had access to the Robocop license it could have turned out better? Oh well.
Yeah, Ocean was the epitome of "mediocre". Their games just sort of...existed. Granted, I did have fun with The Addams Family game as a kid, even though Gomez controls like the bottom of his shoes are made of Teflon.
The First one on the Nes and both Arcade games were good.
I like the jetpack in Robocop 3.
