This. This is what games should be about. Storytelling. Emotion. Action. Love and care for the characters. No loot boxes, battle passes or endless money grabs.

From being afraid to touch his shoulder as encouragement to openly hugging him in front of whoever could see them, it feels so nice
the fact that right after this moment, kratos sees the mural of himself becoming a peaceful, caring God who is loved by all, and almost breaks down 🥲🥲 THIS is how you write a character arc in a way that's respectful and beautiful. So perfect.
such a perfect ending
Then walks out to look over Midgard and repeats Zeus' line. "There is much work to do, much to rebuild." Chef's kiss.
@@shaecouture7480 he is his fathers son.
He just chose to be better.
Yes for me though Sindri's character development is more emotional and relatable.
@@shaecouture7480 I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE!!!! Thanks for pointing that out!
This game had me so choked up in so many parts and this ending broke me... The best storytelling and acting in a game I think I've ever played in my life.
💯 agreed
Dude me too, I swear I wish there was like a cutscene re-watch section where you can watch these again.
@@nkbluerosegaming I want to reset my memory so I can enjoy fresh again.
@@chojthoj08 yeah, but me too lazy to grind all my stuff again.
The Fenrir scene at the beginning got me as an animal lover
This scene fucking broke me. It broke me just like how it broke me when Arthur Morgan died. The reason why is that Kratos has changed a lot, he overcame and accepted the mistakes and sins that he committed in his past.
Such an incredible character ❤
He became better
i also cried when arthur died 😪
My brother was heart broken for Arthur I never played red dead but I did play this game and I really was sad when it all ended. This game is incredible any game that can make a humans emotions change in an instant like that are amazing at showcasing their skills.
It was even more sad when Arthur said "I gave you all I had" and looked right at Dutch.
@@michaeltheakos4484 I can still see Arthur's face and how heartbroken he was at that moment, he seriously didn't deserve this💔
You can see Kratos was the first to break the hug, even lightly pushing Atreus away. Not just so Atreus will let go but also so that Kratos will do so as well. It's such a touching moment between a father and son.
"If i keep hugging him, i don´t know if i´ll be able to let him go"
This is the best character development in video game History! Who would’ve ever thought that the Ghost Of Sparta would be a loving Father??
he's always been a family man lol
Kratos had always been a loving father in the old games (Chains of Olympus)
*flashback when he meets Calliope*
I guess the forms of "A loving father" changes based on how his children need that...
@@fieldmarshalblyat4402 Yea he has always been a Father, and a husband but not in this manner. Spartans aren’t raised to sit at home and play Daddy, like us Men do here in America. They are trained at birth to always think about War, always think about fighting. Spartans aren’t your average type of Men. This is what I mean about a loving Father. When he was in Greece his whole life wasn’t centered around Calliope like it is for Atreus. He cared more about getting revenge at that time. Now EVERYTHING he does is for Atreus, and to make sure he makes the necessary steps to ensure he doesn’t end up like him.
This hits harder for people who have kids seeing them grow up, being their own person
this x10000000
I have 3 sons and this game constantly kept touching and the father son bond and bringing me to tears!
if you did not feel a single emotion during this scene, you are not a human
I may not have felt it physically (crying and such)
But my heart….my heart felt every bit
@@godzillaslayer5817 well yea I have been playing games for so long this is the first time I teared up a lil did not even cried during rdr2 ending
The Golden God feels no emotion
@@opto9 I-……How?- show me your secrets-
Some streamers who play it: 😐😐😐😐😐
I had such a hard time playing this game. My dad recently passed away from cancer and every scene was gut turning. RIP Dad.
Sorry for your lost brother
rest in peace to your dad, brother.
May he rest well.
Keep fighting the good fight
Hang in there brother. He will watch over you from the heavens while you succeed
He went from losing his first family by his own hands
To
Another family which his child still lives
And he didn’t destroy a continent with his actions. Ragnorok only destroyed Asgard and not the other realms.
“For your own God of War game”
Atreus earns his own Choir theme song, but instead of “Kratos”, it’s replaced with “Loki”
Imagine we see kratos in atreus own game ending and they show he will return
@Kratos I'm gonna cry a river Nile
Bro that hug was so emotional 🥲
This isn't a game with a wonderfully done story, it's a wonderfully done story made into a game.
Brok’s death was sad, but this was what got me. As a parent now, learning to have trust in your kid and letting them go is one tough thing to deal with that has so many mixed emotions. Kinda sad I didn’t get to play GoW2018 as a parent.
Thanks for the spoiler you're great dude. Just starting it out like that. I guess it's my fault for being poor
@@hollowtamashi8722 It is. Get a job, brokie.
@@hollowtamashi8722 I’m sorry but if you havnt seen Brok’s death why are you here at end game…?
@@JustHeretoTrollallday algorithm. I could only see the first half of the title so I came to the comments to see if it was gow 2018 or the new one and avoid the spoilers in the video.
Welp time to bawl my eyes out multiple times
This scene was so emotional, but him seeing the real future of the mural behind that one is what really broke me…
Everyone: “Damn I’m gonna cry this is so amazing”
Dante’s chat: “Damn I wish I had a father”
Imagine the love that Faye had for both of them considering she knew this would happen and she would be with them every step of the way.
It's enough to make a grown man cry. And that's okay.
It takes a real man to cry....showing emotions for a man is hard because we are supposed to be tough, we are seen as weak if we get emotional.
It takes alot of courage for a man to show his feelings 🤔
This is better than other reaction channels.
LOKI WILL GO, ATREUS.. ATREUS REMAINS
🥺🥲🥲😭😭😭😭😭
That line had me in tears!!!
@@Deathlikesensation me too!!.. 🥹😭
I wish there was a cutscene re-watch section where you can watch these again.
Most games probably don't do them anymore cause you have UA-cam.
This was the moment that broke me.. then a week later I lost my father. We weren’t on great terms, and this was all I wanted from him. A hug and reassurance.
Kratos crying gets me every damn time..
"loki will go...atreus... Atreus will stay"
😭 like bruh..
That's why Kratos feels like a fully fledged human being not just a character...he changes and evolves and betters himself for his child...can't think of many other definitions of a human being...
Don’t think I’ve ever cried as much playing a game ever, such a beautiful game.
An absolute titan of the industry. I got some minor spoilers from YT just for listening to the game's main theme, but what a masterpiece. Enjoyed every second. Except for some of the optional enemies. Lol.
Man I just finished the game and I got to say this broke me man it's kinda hard to play this game without Atreus/BOY it just doesn't feel the same anymore but yet I understand why this has to happen 😔😔😔 hopefully they see each other again 😔
Such a tear jerker and the full smile on kratos face while hugging Atreus 😭😭😭
The script is getting its moment in the sun here, which it deserves…but also let’s make sure to give it up for the voice acting. Both of these games have had FLAWLESS acting. SO GOOD.
T.C. Carson had an amazing voice for the previous games, representing a crazed but also in pain Kratos. Christopher Judge as a mellowed but still dangerous Kratos is seriously awesome as well.
You know a scene with Kratos is emotional when he’s struggling to speak in fluent sentences. This scene broke me as a person, seeing how the violent warrior he once was is now a caring father and well-respected god shows his character has come a long way from where he first began, learning from teaching his son and his own studying of further knowledge
this game genuinely made me cry. Any game that makes me do that is good in my book
Bro i swear i have watched the ending so many times and i still cant stop tearing up
Kratos being the champion is what broke me into tears. Can’t even explain it other than I was so proud of how far his character had come. Him being the champion was his perfect redemption for everything he’s done in his life.
Men don't cry but when we do, we do for the one we love the most
I cried. Beautiful ending. Made me think about my relationship with my children, and especially my son. What a game.
I cried so hard through the entire ending oh my god
Having to say goodbye to Atreus after all we have been through was the toughest and hardest thing is all of god of war
We need more of Atreus
One of the endless reasons why GOW and elding ring is winning is because there's no money grabbing bs.
From Gow 1-3 : rage,angry,screaming
Now : smile
this game is the definition of amazing perfect storytelling
Kratos: "Loki will go, Atreus remain"
Goodbye son we will see each other
Again
I remember weeping at this scene sayings “That’s my son”😭
They did unfathomably well with this game
I actually watched the video of all cut scenes in order and man that was the best 7hrs. It's a movie in a game. GOW should win an Emmy or Golden Globa it's that good.
Elden ring doesn't have a chance man. This game hit all the spots that make you feel emotions
Yeah. Elden ring was an amazing game but Ragnarok made me crying at LEAST 4 times throughout the story. Masterpiece
Gameplay wise Elden is fun but yeah emotionally it’s bland
This didn't age well
@@softhands3394 I refuse to believe Jeff didn't have an agenda and gave the Award to the studios that would most benefit him. Ragnarok was the most nominated game of the entire show
This didn’t age well lol
Kratos voice crack broke me instantly
By the far the best game I have ever played I cried like a baby
Definitely need more games like this. Such heavy emotion, yet balancing action and adventure
This scene hit me hard.
This is a masterpiece of a game
This clearly depicts how the GOD OF WAR becomes the GOD OF PEACE 😭
Good Grief! There are so many times you can see Kratos cry for goodness sake! Let alone that many in a row!
Every time Kratos cries, a stoic bearded man cries somewhere! And this one is full on Niagara falls right now!
it was hard to imagine that a warrior who was able to ravage the heavens of the gods single-handedly in the past had a gentle side as a father. But that's what's happening now and we're proud of that
Even Tho It Didn't win Game Of The Year, It's still My Game of the Year
Christopher judge fucking nailed it out of the damm stadium
i don't know why this did'nt won game of the year, thjs is game of the sanctuary , i have completed this game fully and achieved platinum trophy , there are many moments which makes me jumps out of my seat, like when kratos asked brok to bless his spear , when brok dies and sindri's emotions 😪😪 , and when kratos telling the story to Atreus before ragnarok , when atreus hugged his father after ragnarok , there are many memorable diaglogues too, i don't know how many am gonna finish this masterpiece
Almost everyone is either wearing the realm shift armor or the dragon armor 😂
True
Is it weird that I just stuck with the big man's regular armour and upgraded it thru the game? Am I the only one?
@@shawnthompson2303The only piece of armor I remember definitively sticking with was the Nidavellir Plate(chest armor) for the health burst on Stun grabs, but I ended up finishing with the stock armor. Just felt better.
Kratos for me has the best character development in video games
I felt this so deeply in my soul that ky tears automatically rolled down my face
...I've been playin GOW from the very beginning and seeing Kratos character development is such a deep deep inspiration 10/10.
If a Game can make you Cry.....this is it.....
And rdr2
You should also do another where they react to Kratos looking at that back of the proficy
Kratos breaking down after seeing that LITERALLY broke my fucking heart 😭
Me and my brother passed this game on the hardest difficulty, sacrificing 2 months before we’d ever watch most UA-camrs to prevent spoilers. When we’ve reached this part, so much relief and also grief was felt. I almost shedded a tear 🥲
as a dad I've played the whole game while my 10 years old son is next to me like watching a movie together ... we call this game Father and son game lol ...we were together watching at the end when Kratos said "Loki will go ... but Atreus will remain here" ... omg that moment my eyes flooded with tears and hugged my son so hard realizing that the day will come my son will become the wolf to face life on his own one day ... with huge responsibility on my shoulder to prepare him well for it just like Kratos and any dad would and should do ...
I put nearly 350 hours into elden ring, but I still think this should have won game of the year.
I was just wanting this lol
When a video game has a better storyline and the best climax than hollywood movies -
This game single handedly was one of the greatest story experiences I have ever seen! Please keep making such fantastic games like this and I will ALWAYS keep coming back!
I love how this all came full circle. There was a time where Kratos was afraid to hug Atreus or even acknowledge him by his name. There was also a time in GoW (2018) where Kratos told Atreus that he he was not ready. There was a time where Kratos never considered that he would one day be worshipped and adored instead of being seen as a monster and a destroyer. Kratos has come so far… I do hope that we find out how Faye died and if Kratos tells Atreus more about his life before he born.
while playing this, i could hear thousands of fathers out there crying.
definitely alot of proud fathers out there who arent ready to let their kids go just yet.
Just like kratos.
Probably seeing themselves in kratos shoes, seeing this moment as a reminder "aw shit, when my kid grows up this exact thing is gonna happen.."
*I really feel like a dad*
*When i play this*
*😢*
*Makes me feel something no other story has made me feel before*
from a menace to the Greek pantheon to a feather soft heart, kratos came a long ass way to make a scar in our hearts forever:-)
Knowing he does not show affection or emotion whatsoever but does here makes me warm deep down
This game is pure uncut happy tears
"Loki will go. Atreus remains" is the hardest line spoken in a game, ever.
We will never forget the legends of Kratos and BOY!!😢
It's so beautiful... I'm not crying, you are crying 🥲
No game has ever made me ugly cry like this one. I was full-on sobbing all through the last two hours. And now I'm sobbing again watching this. Just....this game. Wow.
What makes this moment slap you harder is the fact that playing the previous games we’ve kinda only seen Kratos as a rage filled badass that was scorned and hated by all except his fellow Spartans
Bro I haven't even played the game and this hits hard
"Loki will go"
I'm crying and shaking rn
Kratos has changed so much!
damn it... i was just cutting the onions at the wrong time
Dude this game ending made me cry soooooo much 😢😢😢😢😢 ❤❤
what a game... obviously this is my Game of The Year.
I cried so much at the end i couldn't sleep afterwards
Why does the first one look like Heimdall?
Bro I thought I was the only one thinking that
Jesus fucking christ this scene gets me so hard. Maybe I'm having an emotional night or something but I, grown man, cry every time I hear those words from Kratos.
Desperately waiting for the PC Version!
"do what is necessary not because it is written".
I love all the god of wars but this right here was one of the best to ever do it very emotional game😢
Not gonna lie I balled my eyes out, grew up on GOW. Whole ending destroyed me
i love how half these people are like joking about it but like IMMEDIATELY shut up when shit gets real
Sidk if im the only one but it llok like kratos is smiling a little when they hug
God of war just always feels like a movie to me
Elden ring may have the better gameplay but gawddamn God of War has the best story
I find the gameplay of GOW more fun but I platniumed both games. This year was so good for video games man
I wish that it had the reaction to Kratos seeing his own prophecy
I cry everytime
Perfect ending God of War games are god tier
