Love his story….but Blue Jackets need a way more aggressive and physical defender. Columbus already have defenders like him already. Don’t need anymore Charmin defenders.

Montreal does not have anyone quite like Parekh...and he is a righty. He "might" become a futur superstar. Hutson does not have his size nor his skating. I would not be surprised if Montreal was to draft another defenseman this year...if they pick the best player available at the 7th to 8th spot !!!

I think no matter what we’ll end up with an exciting player. But I wouldn’t be surprised either if we ended up taking a D at 7.

@@bluechipprospect On my end I am afraid we pick a guy like Helenius above Parekh...

I wouldn't be crazy about picking Helenius but he's still a fantastic playmaker. He understands timing and spacing better than most in this draft.
My issue is that if we were going to pick a player under 6 foot to fill up our top 6, I'd hope we pick someone with a more dynamic skill set like Catton or Demidov or one of the top D prospects.

@@bluechipprospect I totally agree, if Montreal goes for the best player available, it will definitively not be Helenius. Furthermore, Montreal needs a top 6 player with size or a genuine top pairing defenseman...time will tell which one they will pick...!!!

His performance at the CHL prospects game was underwhelming. He seemed totally out of place in his own zone

And invisible offensively also. Not a great game for him whatsoever

    Why doesn’t he play forward?

      Different skill set.
Offensive defenseman like Parekh thrive with the puck on their stick. As a forward you're often on the move without the puck and reading where to get to to receive the puck.
Forwards also have to go deep in the offensive zone and win puck battles on chipped in pucks. Not exactly his strength lol
In the NHL, a lot of the offense from forwards is produced through contacts or in traffic with very little space.
By putting Parekh at forward, you would lose his ability to breakout the puck and transition defense to offense in an instant and under pressure. You would lose his ability to dish long passes on tape through the middle splitting the defense creating odd numbers on attack or hit wingers on the move through the neutral zone from behind his net just a second or two after shaking off the forechecking pressure.
You'd lose his ability to keep a gap with attackers while skating backward and keep the offense to the outside.
In the end you would lose too much to gain very little. He can create offense, find lanes and hit seams playing from the blue line or join the offense as a trailer or support winger. Being a high end offensive defenseman who can defend adequately is imo a much harder job than being a winger. So if you find a guy that can do all that, I don't see why you'd want him to transition to forward.
Henry Mews who's another offensive defenseman who's more chaotic and can't exactly play at the same level as Parekh did play a few games on the wing this season. Didn't look great imo 😆

I keep hearing that it looks like he gets bored out there playing sometimes.

Haha ! It sure looks like it sometimes. I wouldn't say it's boredom though cause that would mean he's always bored. There's something about the way he carries himself and the way he plays that just looks lackadaisical. I don't know what to make of it. From what I've heard, he has a great attitude so maybe It just come too easy to him 🤷

He’s not going out of the Top10.
      And most likely going Top5.

What if... he gets drafted by Buffalo 🤯

    • @bluechipprospect

Well, at least they would have a right shot D on the team !?
With Dahling, Power, Byram and Samuelson all being left shot, it wouldn't be a terrible idea 😆
