The question is asked very well, r Elya Brudny demurs on answering the question then r Aaron Lopiansky gives a full throated defense of the frum medias no pictures of woman policy, of course his answer completely ignores the question and insinuats that anyone who doesn't agree with the frum talibains idea of tznius has no respect for woman, then brudny jumps in to insist that no one respects woman as much as bnie toyrah
Most of the rest was banal
a few other scattered gems like R Brudny 39:39 quoting Achad haam
or R Brudny blaming the recent rise in antisemitism on those damn liberal yidden at 1:08:40
Moderated by Sruly Besser (Mishpacha magazine editor)

With all due respect, Rav Elya Brudny, women married to Bnei Torah ARE pushing back on this policy of no female pictures. They are not being heard and their concerns are being disregarded. This is the very definition of not being treated with dignity by Bnei Torah.

Rav Lopiansky says women who are baalei kishron, on a case by case basis, can have their faces shown - but who decides this? The men? That's patriarchy. That's not okay.
And the whole thing about bnei Torah treating their wives better, that progressive velt calling out the abuse versus the silence on abuse in the frum community - you're looking at the data all wrong. This is sickening. And by the way, #MeToo - in the frum community.

What is so funny about laughing off woman's concerns?? and then arguing that an environment where men are powerful and woman are powerless (because the Rabbi decided that this is what GOD wants...) leads to more respect to woman? what? are you trying to sell me the Brooklyn bridge? because that would make more a lot more sense then your line of non-reasoning

every community can choose their own ethic. if haredi women are cool with this , they won't pressure their husbands, they will continue to buy Mishpacha and Ami etc. since there is no mass boycotting, there are almost no one haredi who really cares about this issue...

Not necessarily. Many people can be unhappy with a system but feel powerless to oppose the powers that be, so they resigned themselves to the situation. Often the dissatisfied people are afraid to talk about it out of fear of being labeled an outcast for it. Thus, everyone thinks that everyone else is okay with it which creates a feeling of "if everyone else is okay with it, so should I, and if I'm not okay with it, that means there's something wrong with me, not the system." This makes more people more reluctant to voice their opinions, and thus the self-reinforcing cycle continues to prevent the masses from opposing the authority.
Change doesn't come without a significant catalyst overcomes this problem. The catalyst can be a revolutionary who galvanizes the masses, a less dramatic gradual simmering until a critical mass of brave people are brave enough to stand up and say what everyone else is feeling, or a particular event or series of events that sparkes outrage. Or, it can be a combination of all 3.
For example, the leader (in this case a "gadol") says something outrageous, which can then be used by the revolutionary leaders (women in the charadi community who have been fighting back, like Rachel Freier
) to tap into the simmering widespread dissatisfaction, get a critical mass of people willing to stand up and speak out... and that's how change happens.

@@yaakovasternberg6295 1--- haredi women allow the magazines in their house and buy products advertised therein are at fault . 2-- the magazines won't care even if there is a boycott---because this is now a yeiharaig v'al yaavor issue---what , Mishpacha will now start putting in womens pics because they had a tantrum -- and causing mag to lose all chassidishe clientele , no ain't happening

@@yaakovasternberg6295 haredim vote with their money like everyone else. the woman voice will be shut up , because those willing to leave aren't haredi by definition. the talibanization will only increase with time as the left of O gets weaker , the right has to react to deterioration of the weaker elements by enacting much higher fences...

Okay now I see where you're coming from.
We DON'T have a double standard. The only other choices you have is either no standards at all, or total separation of the genders. And having a happy marriage is a higher priority even than for instance how to raise the children because without a happy marriage the children will have a hard time.

I'm just at the beginning of this video, where question of pictures came up. Unless I'm talking about something else, this argument is not about publishing pictures of women. This is about when a potential marriage match is suggested resumes are exchanged, giving education, what their lifetime goals are, references ( for personality traits) etc. Historically photos were NEVER exchanged. Boys mother's have lately begun demanding photos and it's very controversial.
By the way the next stage in the process is dating, not marriage yet
