I had very few friends as a child. I simply loved my parents: My Dad died in 2003 and my Mum died just last year in 2023. I remember with extreme delight and fondness every Saturday night, being given a Snowball to sip, with my Mum and Dad enjoying a couple of beers at the end of a hard week. Parky was always, always a favourite to watch and share together....I have very happy memories of times past, and now lost...
Amazing to see their friendship form here which would become legendary. It’s obvious Cilla adores Lily/Paul - she’s so released and unguarded with him.
Parkinson the best. Cilla takes me way back to my childhood and she always retained such a humble loving heart...Lily...always in our hearts too....just real down home heart xxxx miss them days.
Met Cilla only twice, but she was exactly the same as on TV, couldn't have been nicer and spent so long chatting, getting pics taken and signing away. I'm glad she was the way I always imagined her to be.
I remember one episode when he had Bruce Willis and Bob Geldof on. Geldof spoke about the difficulties of his divorce and how it had effected his time with his kids. Willis had just gone through his own bitter divorce and was struck by how his own and Geldof's experience rhymed. Both men had divorced in similar circumstances. Their wives had had affairs and had left the marriage. They began talking together about their experiences, the pain of the end of their marriages and the injustice the legal system had made them go through as fathers. Both men seem to have completely forgotten they were on a chat show. Parkinson registered what was happening ,folded his arms, sat back and just let things flow.
That's a rare person on TV that doesn't have to have their own ego on display to be comfortable. A well adjusted entertainment figure 😂...hold my beer!
I remember Parky saying there were only three guests where he knew he could sit back and just let them go without needing to prompt them much: Billy Connolly, Peter Kay and Paul O’Grady/Lily Savage. Not bad company! You can tell he’s properly laughing here too.
Two of the best ! I laughed the whole way through. I see what my mum means when she said ' there's no real stars anymore - real people that we can relate to and can relate to us. All the stars of today are so busy navel-gazing they wouldn't recognise real life if it came up and kicked them in the rear end! '
Parky was one of the very best with such fantastic guests always. I recall seeing this when shown originally, tried never to miss Parky. Paul/Lily and Cilla, great tv. Sadly no longer allowed to have a good laugh as we once did all too pc sadly, world has become bad tempered and miserable 😢
In the mid to late 90s, Paul as Lily had a contract with the BBC, and he did The Lily Savage Show and rebooted Blankety Blank. Sadly by 2001 his time at the BBC neared it's end as they were going through a lot of problems and thought Lily was not a proper fit for them. He went to ITV in 2001 where he remained until 2006 when he moved his teatime show to Channel 4, where I think his best years were, on Channel 4 2006 to 2009
So sad watching Parky, Cilla and Lily chatting and laughing; thinking that they’re all gone now.
Yes your right .
SO very sad !💐💐💐
Rot…we all have to go some time. They all had long successful lives. Get a bloody grip

Just LOVED Paul O'Grady. SO sad that he has left us. His hilarious Lily Savage and his great love of animals, especially dogs, so sadly missed.

Cilla wasn't very nice by many accounts

All three of them sadly gone. And really missed

Three high calibre guests.
I LOVE LIAM NEESON! x
