Thanks for keeping my dads music alive.
- Wren Stewart Tidwell
I had the great pleasure of playing steel with Wynn for a show in Glenn Rose Texas I think it was 1983. I worked with a band here in Springtown Texas and they played it's such a pretty world today. It brought back a wonderful old memory.
Your demos are so clear and the pace is just right. Really appreciate everything you put out.
Thanks for sharing this
Completely brilliant ❤
I don't play pedal steel guitar, but I've recently found out about this song by Wynn Stewart and absolutely love the pedal steel guitar part/sound. Your video has made me appreciate the mastery of the musicians even more - I'll have to go and find some more Ralph Mooney to listen to. Maybe I'll have to try and learn the pedal steel as it's such a great sound. Though I don't think there's much calling for such musicians in Suffolk, England where I live. Cheers.
Thank you for the kind words! I would imagine it would be hard to find people to play with over there, but probably not impossible. It's a challenging instrument for sure, but addicting when you finally start to get it. Ralph Mooney was an amazing player. Always love learning his style.
It’s the half A!! I probably would have never figured that out. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve always wanted to learn it!!
Would you show us the intro to Charlie Pride Crystal Chandelier .
Merel Haggard learned a lot from wynn stewart.❤
What is the pedal to the left of the A pedal?
B-Bb pedal. Lowers strings 5 and 10 a half step. A lot of people have it on their left vertical but it’s very useful to have as a pedal because you can split it with the A pedal and get an augmented chord in the open position without having to use a 1/2 A pedal. Travis Toy turned me onto that idea. I use vertical lever lower 6.
@@steelymike9995 thank you for this info on the Bb pedal. I do have the vertical version of this and hardly ever use it. I love the idea of having it as a pedal to get the augmented I chord! Brilliant. I have to look into getting this change. Thanks again.
I use mine a lot more now that it’s on the floor. Back 2 frets from an open position with that B-Bb pedal gives you a cool sounding 9th chord.
Thanks Mike😊
What rig are you playing through these days?
I changed some things up over the winter. Some videos I record just using my little Spark practice amp, but the main gear I’m using right now is a Sarno Earth Drive (if using distortion on a rock song), TC Corona Chorus (if needed), Nux Atlantic Reverb/Delay then using either an Evans SE-200 or a Milkman The Amp 100 direct or to a 15” cab external cab with a TT-15 speaker. I think this video was using the Milkman.
Hello friend, I'm new to pedal steel and I would like to ask a question, is pedal C heavier than pedal A to activate? on my Steel it is considerably heavier and has a longer travel than the A pedal
It’s not uncommon for it to have a little more travel because it’s pulling thinner strings. It can be a little stiffer, but if it’s overly stiff there’s a host of things that could be going on. If it’s an older guitar the changer fingers could be all gooped up and need a cleaning.
That must be it then, it's new, everything is clean and lubricated, I'm going to have to get used to putting more force on the foot when I use it, thank you very much for your help, your videos have helped me a lot@@steelymike9995
If it’s a new guitar there’s also the break in factor. The blue Mullen is still loosening up for me and I’ve had it almost 2 months now.
@@steelymike9995 Yes, it's a brand new guitar, zero miles
Nice! What did you get?
