Why wasn't this interview 2 hours long? I could've moved into this interview. I could've made a warm and cozy home.
because these interviews are about selling something. They never take long. The product is presented - ben is back, there's some small talk and then they move on.

Julia Roberts is amazing in that she has navigated Hollywood as a young attractive woman and maintained her career to her middle years by quality performances and a variety of roles.
She is a tough warrior who has blazed a trail for female actors.
Great to hear her. She has nothing to prove.
I think she navigated it with just a genuine quality and brilliant brand management. People making fun of her for running away from marriage? She does a movie about being a runaway bride. People feel out of touch because she's absurdly famous? Well "I'm also just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her". She built empathy and connection with audiences on a massive scale through brilliant choices. Not necessarily a variety of roles, or brilliant versatility as an actress, but just showcasing herself and her natural charm really really well.
how many people just watch Pretty Woman every once in awhile because it's a great movie

Yeah. This. He's fantastic with people and can put on a mask easily, and he wore a super accommodating one here. Not sure if she's got a diva rep or not but even on their small disagreements he backed off at the slightest resistance/nudge from Roberts. You want a real interview with a woman and Stephen, check out Nicki Minaj interview. He was genuine there, wasn't as buttoned up, and was a lot looser and comfy. We can't pretend to know if Roberts is chill or not and he's not going to assume, played it safe.

I watched the first 3 episode then i quit. It was just really weird to me. I didn't get the pull to keep watching like i do for other shows.

Hey @StephenColbert I love your stuff, but this interview hardly passes the Bechdel Test. You started with Julia's appearance, then asked her about her hobbies, then poked at her age and spent most of the rest of the interview inquiring about her male co-star. I expect better, less sexist interviewing from you!

I don't know if Julia Roberts is a diva or not, but she's comes across here as a strong-willed and fiercely independent-minded person. Stephen had sense enough to back off from any particular line of questioning at the first sign of disagreement or opposition on her part. Her last spontaneous ( and genuinely funny) response saved an interview that otherwise never seemed to really take off...
