Just watched the video all the way through, the other thing I wanted to add: You're like... the one channel that actually shows how to interact with the push as if it were an actual instrument. It's pretty rare to be able to find content like this. TL;DR - You're an absolute gem and I look forward to seeing your channel reach 100k subscribers.
@@jxmieblake Ha no pressure, don't want you burning out feeling obligated to upload videos for us mere peasants. But we sure do appreciate the value you bring because no one else is doing what you're doing and dare I say - even capable of what you're doing! Regardless, looking forward to seeing more content from you. Interested to see how you tackle bass and sub-bass, hoping that's on your list of things to teach. See a lot of tutorials on how to sound design but virtually none on treating bass as it's own instrument.
Daaaaang. This is so helpful. I play piano/keys and have been, for over a year, trying to develop my chord vocab on the Push 2. The 10th is a great sound and not very accessible with my small hands on real piano haha. Great stuff.
Where'd you go man? I love your stuff I'd love to see chromatic mode practice exercises. I know you do a bunch of that already, but I mean more for muscle memory sort of thing. Hope you're good!
Great video on the Push! I'm a guitarist and I've started using Launchpads a few months ago and I don't want to touch a piano anymore :) Push or Launchpads are really a credible and underestimated alternative for musicians!
My guy! It's been a long while since we've seen you posted a video! Stayed subscribed to you on the off-chance you decided to resurrect this channel. With the release of Live 11 and upgrades to Push 2, hoping this is the first of many in a series of videos from you! Keep up the creative work and stay gnarly homie
I agree, I’m a (fretless) bass player myself - I’d sign up in an instant for a course on how to play the push like an instrument. That’s why I bought mine, can’t stand the piano layout most midi devices have.
I’m right here, learning with you man! Just bought the push last night and even though I had no idea what I was doing it was fun as hell to play around with.
I got a launchpad pro and you inspired me to approach it as a legit instrument, to learn scales and chords on it etc. I really enjoy what you're putting out there. I'm hoping to see more!
Today is now officially a good day. Thanks for returning Jamie! Your Making A Beat From Scratch video is still a favorite I rewatch from time to time. So more workflow videos are high up on my list!
Wow! I absolutely LOVED how you demonstrated how to play on Push 2! I've struggled with that a lot, now I can try and emulate what you did here. Many Thanks!! I have subbed!
Thank you for sharing. I use a Akai Force and Launchpad pro mk3 in this style. I find it to make my music more realistic then playing chords with one pad or drawing out the midi(I use all these ways to play my chords). Thanks again 🧔🏽🙏🏽
Nice vid and good to see you posting again. I'd be interested in Push technique for those of us that are not piano players. I understand where 3rds 5ths 7ths are, but knowing where to play when I get far from the root gets challenging. I.E. How to come up with right hand notes, for those less versed on the piano. Just saying since you asked. :-) Cheers
Been waiting for more content from you man! Looking forward to more Push performance videos and tutorials from ya! Keep em coming as often as you can! Cheers!
Great videos man! I have a question. I notice the sleek piano screen. How do I get the piano roll on the screen of the Push 2? I recently came up on a Yamaha ModX8 and this technique seems like a good one to kinda self teach myself how to play piano better. Thanks for the great content 👊🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Hey mann u going deeeep And that’s intense how u play push 2 !! I also use push 2 and I have a question Is the Display of Push 2 really showing the piano 🎹 or did I cut that into video ? I would really need that too 😄 Anyway thank you a lot for sharing this bc im struggling still a lil but with push 2 for how to play chords etc but from now on you will helping me a lot !!! Thx
Nice video. I like how you presented the chords on the side. That's great chord recognition software. Others have asked but how do you get the piano on screen on the push?
But guys can we have some custom chromatic layouts? Lets say I want rows of the grid to have the same intervals between them that guitar strings have. Do I have to buy 3rd generation launchpad or I can still get away with my push 2?
In this particular example all the notes are diatonic, so chromatic mode isn’t necessary. It’s still best to learn in chromatic mode though, as it’s not limited to diatonic notes (just like piano/guitar/bass/etc). I show this in my other videos and will be posting a new video soon about this topic :)
For some people, piano shapes make more sense. For others, guitar/bass shapes make more sense. If guitar shapes make more sense and you want the flexibility of applying those shapes to virtual instruments/synths/etc, then this is made for you :)
@@jxmieblake hahah bro, I’ve had a group of tabs with you playing push for 1 year now, same tabs just using your shit to practice when I can, glad your back, still remember when you did your last video before starting school
@@jxmieblake how could I not, no one does it like you, maybe JNTHN Stein is the only other one, but apart from that you guys content is rare, and thank you for sticking with push and dedicating your time to showing us how it’s done, You could have easily moved on especially with other instruments, but it’s clear push has a special place. Thanks again man

Guitarists I’ve worked with love the fourths string layout of Push/Launchpad/Linnstrument. Like you said, they’re really underestimated :)
Dope push content. I would love more pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase
Look for another one next week!

Thanks. What is the notation software you are using please?
Thank god you are back Jamie!!

Really like the style of your videos, well done! I'm curious what software you're using to display chords in Realtime?
Can you do a video (if you've figured this out yourself) on how to THINK about playing it?

did you figure this out? im still trying i know i did it before a long time ago but cant do it again

Nice. How do you get the keyboard to show in the display like that

@noahbwoodworks aw really? Well it should exist. Seems possible with max4live
Can't wait to see what kinda wizardy though have for our eyeballs
The only kind I know 🪄
What VST piano are you using?
James, you‘ve changed. And you have an American accent now, too.
(Still making great music, though ❤)
Just watched the video. How do you put the keyboard view in the screen ?
It’s overlaid in premiere pro :)
@@jxmieblake oh wow thats alot of work :P
@@jxmieblake could be really cool if there is a way to make a max for live plugin like that - maybe via usermode
Couldn't you do all that in scale mode and then dial in your scale? What do you like about using chromatic mode vs locking stuff in a scale?

@@jxmieblake Thanks for the reponse!
More jazzy would be to play 7chords and then only 3&7, maybe root but ommit 5. Thats what guitars and pianos do in accompanying (comping) in combo's.
You really need to improve that latency! 😋
