    Mine is the same, I have tried General Cure, Fenbendazole, Flubendazole, and Levamisole and at this point he is paper thin and dying.
    I saw white cysts on the body so I am hoping the levamisole, followed by 2 more doses in the next few weeks can save the rest of the discus.
    Btw your fish, like mine, also has his skeleton showing through his side. A couple others have big eyes. So hope you were successful by now. I gotta check your channel.

    New sub here! hopefully your Cichlid is all back to normal now, poor guy! I have been excited to set-up an African Cichlid tank and was wondering if you are going that route as well in the future or a new tank with another species of fish, Cichlids or other fish? Nice Truvu! Hopefully you will do another video update on your tank as well! Beautiful Discus and planted tank scape!

    Thanks for sharing. It took 5 days huh. I have one cobalt that won't eat for 2 day's when he really gets scared. When catching other fish out of the tank etc. Stress the hell out of me every time.

    As i know the production of general cure is stopped from API. I will try with the metronidazole as medication especially for internal infection from anaerobic.

    I know this is an old video. But I wish you showed how he eventually did. I realize that requires large planning and a lot of time, so I don’t blame you. But how did this fish end up doing ? My whole tank is currently infected with a parasite. Again, I know this video is old, but it’s probably the best one I’ve found for how to administer general cure for parasite discus disease. Thanks in advance and I really hope you are able to reply. These discus are so important to me.

      My intention was that by showing the fish that was sick and not eating going for food at the end, that they improved. I have had to do this a few times over the years and it usually works. Depends on the issue and other factors. Good luck.

    Do you need to remove chloride in the water that you mixed with med?

    Seeing what happened on day 7, a week later, and then 2 weeks later would have been very useful to know. But I guess we have to just use our imaginations.

  • @miscmeme

    I appreciate the tips. Any chance you know how to maintain a carbon filter during med treatment? Take it out and let it dry or put it in a bag of tank water till treatments done?

    • @hugheymorrow
      @hugheymorrow  4 роки тому +1

      They (API) say to remove carbon during treatment. Personally I don't have any carbon. I would think the carbon could likely absorb medication.

    Is it ok to leave the spong filter on while medicating

  • @lawg2909

    I have a discus fish (blue diamond) that changes color, from light to dark to light... i am not sure if i need to worry about it, but yeah i am kinda bothered whenever he turns dark. Also you mentioned about the eyes being dark. Whenever my discus turns dark the eyes become black, and light color becomes bright red. And he can change like in just a seconds. is that normal? Or there is something wrong?

    • @hugheymorrow
      @hugheymorrow  3 роки тому

      It is a stress indicator. If it is only occasional it is probably ok. If it is long term and other discus aren't behaving the same way, could be some kind of sickness only that fish has. If they all do it, likely environmental reasons like something with the water. I have all healthy discus at the moment but some have different personalities and go dark or show stripes for short intervals and I never know why.

      No need ro quarantine the one if it has been with the rest since the beginning, especially if it is a parasite within a community already exposed.

    • @hugheymorrow
      @hugheymorrow  4 роки тому +4

      @@Jackson22379 yes it is costly. Discus are even more costly though, and besides that over time they grow on you and the value is beyond monitary. End of the day, if there is a parasitic cycle, one should consider that treating the whole tank ensures that the parasites will not spread to the rest of the community. This is why I treated the whole tank. The parasites could be in the fish, in the substrate waiting to be ingested by another fish, and stuff like that. If I only treated one fish and the parasites were spreading in the community, I haven't done much good and probably wasted the medicine I used to treat the single fish. If the other fish are not yet showing symptoms, they may still already be infected.
