This was amazing work -- especially since the original was so fragile (thin metal, very rusty, etc.). I love the technique for gently removing the rust and old paint; anything more aggressive would destroy the toy.
I'm surprised that, based on the comments, other viewers don't see how radical this video is. Restoration videos, especially of old metal toys, are a category of UA-cam videos that we all know well. TheFabric is doing something different. The video isn't mainly a record of a restoration; it is a work of art (ASMR and visual art) all by itself. The colors are stunning. The images command our attention. The video is the art, and I find it exhilarating.
I love that your restorations are true restorations, staying mostly true to the original toy and returning it to what it looked like when it was new. You do wonderful work!
Excellent chemical treatment of corroded metal. Very high attention to detail. An incredible amount of work has gone into this beautiful vintage train model. Simply ingeniously made
What an absolutely outstanding restoration. Saved from the scrap yard and lovingly restored. Enjoyed every minute of your video, thank you for sharing.
I had the same when I was a little boy, sixty years ago, she had been stolen by burglars when we were gone to holidays, maybe was it this one ? I did not thought I'll see her again, and working ! Thank you, that is supremely zen ... One blue thumb!
Really wish toys were made like this, even caked in rust they still stand up. With toys today that are plastic, they die out in a few years after being made, they get brittle and as soon as they break a little bit we throw them away because its cheaper to buy a new one than refurbish current ones. We live in a world of consumership and replaceability, not long lasting and repairable... its sad.
My father had some Hornby and Dorfan tin trains similar to this in his collection. They had been well cared for and stored in a dry closet. He had classic Marx, American Flyer, and Lionel, as well. My favorite was a pair of Unique Lines Rock Island Diesel Engines.
Thank you very much !! Someone told me it’s a rare set that was sold as is, with only one railway car... I bought it 12 euros. Thanks a lot for watching !! 🙌
Amazing mind blowing gave me another insight on some of my restorations maybe i can do as well as yours now I've seen your video will help me a lot will keep watching well done
Thanks a lot for watching and commenting !!! 😆🙏🙏 Well I’m not sure they would really enjoy the painting work... 😕 Could have been better... thanks again !!! 👍🏻
Supreme workmanship.......I have that model loco by Piko (die-cast) 1961 TT gauge still original and runs, immaculate condition in grey and red. Could watch your work all day
I collect antique toy trains for a living, and the way in which these have deteriorated is strange. I haven't seen any models in my years of collecting that have surfaced like this. It's almost as if the models were purposefully damaged and soaked in a chemical to force them to rust
I collect antique toys too. But only the rustiest ones :) I can tell you it’s real rust. I’m not doing anything to force these toys to rust.. Many video makers are doing it on YT but I do not. I’m always buying toys that have been forgotten for years...Thanks for watching tho 🙌
The other day I answered your request to vote on which model train to restore. I chose the Marklin, thinking it was rough enough to test your skill and knowledge. Looks like it may not be such a challenge after all. Excellent work! Look forward to the Marklin.

Some more quite soon 😃👍🏻
Model train 😁

Hey Steve thanks a lot for these kind words 🙌🙌🙌 I’m so glad to share my work with you 😌🙏
It's nice to see a restoration channel that doesn't waist time by making it look like they found the item there fixing in the middle of nowhere.
It would be nice to see every toy train that has been restored moving around your little railway in your garden in one video.
I will show more on a next video.... Thanks for watching !!
ШИКАРНАЯ ВЕЩЬ ! ПРЕКРАСНАЯ РАБОТА !!
Imagine if that thing could talk. I bet it would have so many wonderful stories of some young lad, or lass, and all the days of joy it brought them.
I love that your restorations are true restorations, staying mostly true to the original toy and returning it to what it looked like when it was new. You do wonderful work!
Thank you very much !! 🙌🙏
Quelle patience . Mais ç a fait plaisir de retrouver cette petite locomotive Horn by que j' ai eue dans mon enfance
Excellent chemical treatment of corroded metal. Very high attention to detail. An incredible amount of work has gone into this beautiful vintage train model. Simply ingeniously made
Thank you so much Paul !!!🙌🙏👍🏻
This model is similar to the electric locomotive type F, which was built in France for the Soviet railways from 1959 to 1960.
Yep thank you for the info ! 🙌
Great that you restore these trains and refrain from customising. This electric, clockwork model looks fantastic. Thanks for the video.
Thank you too! 🙌
Quelle belle rénovation, le résultat est bluffant ! C'est un vrai régal et c'est très bien filmé. En plus, un train de la SNCF. COCORICO !!!
Merci !!! 😃

You repaired this rusty toy train and made it nice and like new congratulations to you
Is it you, Sheldon?
